No deposit refund
No deposit refund after several promises. It's been over 60 days. They don't allow you to speak to anyone in accounts or management. My guess is they're going out of business and have got their heads in the sand.
Money claim will be processed online today.

Absolutely terrible from…
Absolutely terrible service from Mammoth Tool Hire.
They supplied a faulty digger and a roller that was not what we ordered — it was far too large for the intended job and completely unsuitable for the site. This immediately caused delays.
We were told an engineer would attend within the hour to repair the digger — no one turned up. We were then promised an 8am engineer the following morning — again, no one showed. I am still waiting.
As a result, we have now lost two full days of site work, costing us both time and money. Communication has been just as frustrating — it’s almost impossible to get hold of anyone unless you sit on web chat or stay on hold for over an hour.
Save yourself the stress, time and money — do not hire from this company.

Terrible
Terrible, incompetent service DO NOT USE THEM
Hired a log splitter and paid for priority service. Contacted them the day before delivery and was told that delivery would be between 800-1330. They didn’t turn up!!! At 1308 I got an email referencing my order saying my “first fix nail gun” was not available…I’d ordered a log splitter. No contact number on the website….huge red flag for incompetent service. Online chat has not answered my requests for money back. Please do not use, they don’t turn up and do not answer requests for your money back…it’s all a con
Took 1 hour 15 mins to get a response on Live Chat. Impossible to contact. Let see if they actually credit me back. Absolutely avoid.

Unreliable, not worth the hassle
I was charged a £30 change of booking fee for a floor sander hire that ultimately did not go ahead. While the hire cost was refunded, the company has refused to refund this fee, despite no service being provided.
Having booked days off work for this, it’s beyond disappointing and frustrating. My booking fee being refunded should surely been seen as the minimum compensation for having days wasted.
Customer service repeatedly relied on “company policy” rather than addressing the fact that the hire never took place. Charging and retaining a fee for a service not received is unreasonable and, in my view, not consistent with consumer rights.
A disappointing experience and poor handling of a straightforward refund.

No show delivery
Ordered a ladder to be delivered today but after no communication by 1530 when I had paid for express delivery by 1300, I contacted them to be told it wouldn’t be coming. Not a dependable business model.

Terrible service – wasted time, money, and endless frustration
I booked a sander hire through Mammoth Hire’s website, believing I was booking for the same day, 2 January 2026, for a weekend hire. I paid in full upfront by Mastercard (over £255). I received no clear confirmation of the delivery date.
When I didn’t receive confirmation that the sander would arrive on 2 January, I contacted the company via their Zendesk live chat to ask whether it was arriving that day and to request additional sanding discs. I received no reply. I also tried calling them and stayed on hold for 1 hour, 17 minutes, and 16 seconds (position 9 in the queue) without anyone answering before I was forced to hang up.
On 3 January 2026, believing the hire was meant for the previous weekend and had not happened, I emailed to request a refund. I received no response. On 8 January 2026, I contacted them again, asking either for my money back or to reschedule the hire for the following weekend. Again, no reply.
Only on 9 January 2026 did Mammoth Hire finally respond, stating that the booking had actually been made for that day and that weekend. When I immediately tried to cancel, they refused and said no refund would be given, despite the fact that I had contacted them multiple times before this date by email, Zendesk, and phone to cancel or get my money back.
They then forced the delivery for 9 January, leaving me with no realistic option, as they were threatening to keep the full payment and even charge more for any change. Even worse, the sander did not arrive at all, meaning I wasted an entire weekend waiting for equipment that never showed up.
As a result:
I lost a huge amount of time
I experienced significant stress and frustration
I am still out of pocket, with over £255 blocked
I never received the equipment I paid for
This is completely unacceptable. The company ignored timely cancellation requests, failed to communicate, refused a refund, forced a delivery date I did not want, and then didn’t even deliver the sander. This feels unfair and contrary to basic consumer protection principles for online purchases.
I would strongly advise others to avoid Mammoth Hire unless they want to risk losing their money and their time.

The hiring process was efficient
The hiring process was efficient, and even though it was clear they were merely brokers passing orders to actual plant hire firms, as long as it functioned well, it didn't seem to matter. However, retrieving my £500 deposit has been a frustrating ordeal; two months after returning the equipment, I haven't received any refund. Despite receiving a statement of the amount due and cheerful replies from what seems to be an AI support email, the money hasn't come through despite numerous follow-ups and promises of soon. Not recommended.

The hiring process was seamless
The hiring process was seamless, even if I discovered they were simply intermediaries forwarding orders to actual plant hire companies. As long as it functions properly, it doesn't really matter. However, the struggle to retrieve my £500 deposit has been frustrating. It's been two months since the equipment was returned, and I haven't received any refund. Although I've received statements showing the amount due and cheerful responses from the support team, likely AI, there's still no money despite persistent follow-ups and endless promises of an imminent return.Steer clear.

Stair scaffolding too big for stairs, refusing refund
Diabolical customer service and misleading product description. We ordered indoor scaffolding for stairs, obviously checking the size. The scaffolding delivered was too wide for normal size stairs and we had it picked up for return 30 minutes after arrival. Contacted customer service for refund and after two weeks received a reply showing a supposed little clip from their small print ( which I still haven't found) stating they cannot guarantee size of any products delivered. DO NOT HIRE from this firm.

Avoid
The actual hire process went smoothly and although it became evident that these guys were just a sales agent passing your order on to 'real' plant hire companies, so long as it works, who cares, right?
Getting my £500 deposit back is an ongoing nightmare though, two months since the equipment was returned and I have yet to get a penny back. Had a statement of how much is owed, always a chirpy response from a (probably AI) support email, but money none despite lots of chasing and lots of promises of 'soon'.
Avoid.

very bad experience with this company
very bad experience with this company, I tried to rent three times a ladder and there are always an error, the order never arrived on the agreed date or time, even after paying extra for urgent delivery(before 1 pm).
the third time it still didn't arrive, and they marked it as the costumer's fault. They wanted to charge extra.
