Bought from Reading Bedding
Bought from Reading Bedding. The mattress we tried in the showroom was amazing. The mattress that came although allegedly the same as in the showroom was not the same. Hard and incredibly uncomfortable.
If only I could give zero stars!!
Purchased a Mammoth Pocket 2000 mattress which cost us £1100 in 2017 being told it was a quality mattress and had a 10 year guarantee.
What we were not told is it does not cover dipping which leads to dreadful backache and after a 4 year period desperately needs changing.
We thought we were buying a quality mattress and unfortunately this is not the case.
My advice, buy something else as Mammoth Mattress does not give customer satisfaction in any way.
Totally waste of a significant amount of money!
Mammouthley dissapointed
Very disappointed we have had the mattress exactly 3 years and it has become extremely uncomfortable it cost us £1.318 we complained to the shop wher we purchased the mattress and we were told we could pay after of £50 to have the mattress inspected but if they find nothing wrong we lose our money to look at the mattress you would not think there was any fault we decided to go elsewhere sorry to say 10 year warranty on this item is useless
Mammoth Sky 270 Superking …
We purchased a Mammoth Sky 270 Superking in 2018 and for the first year it was excellent and then we noticed a ridge had formed in the middle, the mattress had sunk on both sides and we are not heavy people.
In 2020 we contacted Mammoth and were told to take it up with the supplier. We also asked if we could purchase a spare zip on topper, the reply was, we don't do them any more. What sort of company is this that charges top whack for a mattress that the sales people tell you is one of the very best. A mattress should last longer than 2 years
The 10 year guarantee is not worth the paper its written on.
My advice to anybody contemplating buying one of these Mammoth mattresses is, DON'T, STAY WELL CLEAR.
Avoid at all cost
Specifically Ordererd Sports Matress, was told on delivery I was getting the Rise matress which was £300 cheaper in the shop. Tried for one night and requested refund as it was nothing like expected. Was told they didnt do refunds and that i would just get used to it , explained I hadnt been given what I ordered, was told that its the same matress but has a different cover.
Whole customer service experience was terrible, luckily could claim money back via bank. Matress itself was terrible offered absolutely zero support and compressed to flat as soon as you got on it absolutely not worth the £800
I find it incredible some of these…
I find it incredible some of these negative reviews and it is certainly not my experience. I found the mattress excellent quality and very comfortable. I do have some recommendations though, rotate regularly, use a hard base not a sprung base and dont buy the variants from furniture village or benson's for beds as they are inferior variants that those retailers have decided they want to offer the customer but at a similar price as mammoths own range. You should be looking for mattresses in the rise or shine collections.
DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY
Would give this a 0 if I could. Worst scam you'll ever get into. Mattress dipped in no time, it wrecked the bed we had bought from dreams, we spent £1200 on this "medical grade" scam, funny that it's the thing that caused my back pain. Then £500 on the base. We had to but a new base and we moved to divan and it had also wrecked the new bed within a month, we paid this bed off for 3 years and it lasted half that, will never buy from dreams again as they were the scammers who made us buy this mattress, STAY CLEAR. I wish I had read the reviews before I bought it.
Uncomfortable and not worth the price.
After receiving the rise plus I am thoroughly disappointed, my partner chose it after falling for the advertising. From the very first night it was extremely uncomfortable, the heavier person creates a slope that the lighter person falls into the entire night. It’s too soft, which is not what you expect when it’s advertised as a firm mattress. After the first night we both woke up with terrible hip and back pain. We changed back to our old mattress after the first night, we’ve tried emailing customer services but have not had a response, we’re now just left with an overpriced, unusable mattress taking up space in our bedroom.
The most uncomfortable mattress I've…
The most uncomfortable mattress I've ever had. I was looking for a traditionaly made mattress but my wife seeed to prefer the mammoth after listening to sales bull. I can honestly say I've not once woken without hip/back pain, I now lay on a feather and down duvet on my side. Pain relief. Next time should be my turn to choose mattress.
Avoid.
We purchased a mammoth mattress January 2019 (king, supersoft shine mattress). Sadly, my review will reflect the majority on this site; my problems are similar if not identical .
First few months, the bed was lovely. After this initial period the mattress has deteriorated. Sinking both sides with a ledge in the middle. Not very noticeable unless you physically lie on it for a period of time. I’ve never had back pain, and it’s now a regular morning (and mid-sleep experience).
Mammoth were contacted via email due to the “generous” 10 year guarantee (note: very limited ways to contact the company). They did respond and much to my dismay they said matters comfort is not covered by their guarantee process. They advised speaking to my retailer and referred me to a care guide. I’m waiting assessment of my mattress but based on the other reviews, I doubt I’ll have much luck.
My advice would be just to avoid. Poor customer service, deceptive and pointless guarantee. The company is an absolute fraud.
Bought mammoth mattress firmness rating…3
Bought mammoth mattress firmness rating 3 six months ago. At first it was very comfortable and gave support without being too firm. After only 6 months I wake up with lower back pain and hip pain due to an indentation in the mattress where my lower back is. I wake up with a hollow under my low back which is causing poor posture and no support to the spine. Paid £1300 for this mattress which I was told had medical grade foam and was recommended for sports injuries and joint problems. Do not buy this expensive mattress.
Avoid
Avoid . Bad quality, the washable cover is disintegrating-had holes for such an expensive mattress I did not expect this, the dye in the foam has stained the zip on cover and after 5 years it’s gone flat and uncomfortable. I tried to contact them 3 years ago about the dye, but got no response so the warranty is not worth a dam . I final got a response! Holes in a mammoth mattress are classed as normal wear and tear from use and the orange staining is normal for a mammoth mattress, happy to supply pictures of what to expect a 5 year old mammoth mattress to look like , it’s looks like a mattress you would see on a tip. Here was their response.
We have reviewed the images and the topper appears to have natural wear and tear. With time, use and the friction created during sleep the material has worn thin. This is not a defect of the cover, I’m afraid. In relation to the colouring, there isn’t any ‘dye’ in the cover or foam. This is natural oxidisation of the foam materials used of the mattress topper. As this is your first foam mattress, I’m sure you won’t be aware of this process but I can advise that it is completely natural. Partly the air surrounding the mattress will change the colour of some materials over time, but also perspiration causes this staining. We would expect to see this with an item of this age.
Only received the mammoth move two…
Only received the mammoth move two singles clipped together a week ago. My husband had a bicycle accident and was paralysed so we thought this bed would be perfect for us . Mattress doesn’t feel to bad but massive failure is the fact the mattress comes of the side of the bed during the night leaving large gap in the middle very uncomfortable . I may well have to return as this is dangerous for someone who can’t use his body lower than his chest incase he comes off during the night. He’s not out of hospital yet so thankfully not affected him
Does not last, would not recommend
I purchased this mattress just over eighteen moths ago, paying £700 I would expect better quality it bobbled quickly even using the recommended protector supplied by the retailer. It is uneven and now also has holes formed in at least two places on the mattress topper part. After having a previous high brand mattress this has been a real disappointment and would not recommended I am hoping they can resolve these issues as from the reviews the customer service is very poor. Personally would not recommend their are other quality brands that stand the test of time.
Sloped on one side
As per other reviews, this mattress was great for the first month. Now however, it is completely lop sided - one side is now on a slope and whoever lies on that side feels like they are falling out of bed. Yes it has been rotated and still the same on that one side only. Cue hip and back pain.
I can see that I will be fobbed off and be told this is normal, what a rip off
so happy
I own a king size, mammoth performance 220/firm. This bed is a firm memory foam but is not hard. I suffer from hip pain and I couldn't sleep on one side of my body for about a year until I bough this bed. This is the best bed I have ever had. I have had this bed for over a year and I am very happy with my purchase and I paid about 600 pounds
The worst experience ever with a…
The worst experience ever with a mattress ! I bought Mammoth soft one less than 6 months ago, spent 3000$ on it: first it was emitting a very bad smell which lasted for few weeks, then support was horrible and now both myself and my husband are experiencing backache and neck pain every single time we use it. Indentation is very visible. Customer service is the worst, no replacement allowed and no even inspection by an expert professional ! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY on it.
Couldn’t be any more disappointed!
I thought I wanted a soft mattress. It felt great in the store. £800 and 9 weeks later it arrived and I honestly couldn’t be any more disappointed! My lower back pain in the morning after sleeping on it makes this the worst buy I’ve ever made. It’s a really well made mattress by all accounts and it looks great but there just isn’t enough support on this “comfort 3 rated (Bensons for Beds)” mattress for me. I’m now sleeping in the spare room on a £100 IKEA mattress until my replacement arrives.
After owning this mattress for over 2…
After owning this mattress for over 2 years my wife is constantly complaining of hip and lower back pain. This has been going on for around a year and we have figured it is a mattress related issue. The mattress felt a lot former as it is now when we first seen in store. As to be being sold to us was explained how it helps lower back pains and aches but things have gotten a lot worse.
Mammoth Shine Plus - Don't
SUMMARY: The mattress is advertised as a premium product with patented technology to boot. The support following six months use is terrible accompanied with no readily available information on the support beyond 'sports players use it' - it got me.
My Wife and I have been using a Mammoth Shine Plus Firm from Mammoth for c. 8 months (purchased from Elephant Beds). Note the Foam Company FOAMCO (Mammoths Parent company).
After around 6 months use there is very noticeable reduction in support to the point where half of me is below the bed surface (this is meant to be a firm mattress) and we are both experiencing back pain. We initially put this down to having a small child but since sleeping on the spare bed can confirm its the bed! Since then everyone we have shown agrees its very noticeable.
Having complained to the retailer we have been advised (Mammoth are very instant on only dealing with the retailer) that this is completely normal! and to advance the matter an inspection is required at a cost to myself. Having read the previous reviews I am very cautious to allow an inspection, particularly where it appears very limited and Mammoth consider the matter final based upon the independent review. From what I have read the inspections is limited to measurement of the surface impression on the bed (not our issue) and the independent inspectors are funded by furniture manufacturers!
I've asked Mammoth directly and indirectly to answer some basic queries 1. Do they think my issue is settlement or not (it appears they think my issue is settlement and this is normal) 2. They advertise technology to help your posture in areas of additional loading however provide zero information on what it is. 3, What does the inspection involve.
Mammoth have replied on all platforms (in what I can only assume some charade to appear to care) but essentially blanked my queries and told me to only speak to the retailer and paid no attention to my complaint.
I wish I had looked at some of these reviews prior to purchasing. The bed when new was lovely, now its just awful after 6-8 months use. Considering the price I can say hand on heart the worst purchase I've ever made and that includes some pretty poor purchases!
To clarify Elephant beds customer service has been reasonable (they regularly call and email) and have now agreed to foot the cost of the inspection. However whatever business relationship exists with Mammoth is resulting in no actual progress on my compliant and queries and i would go as far to say quite restrictive.
I'm now in a position where we sleep on the spare bed, have to find out what an inspection details (to even stand a chance of getting a refund), receive no meaningful correspondence and am £1300 out of pocket for the privilege.
Yes we rotate the mattress and its on a suitable bed frame!
I will be updating this review following the outcome of the conversations/inspection however I'm not confident of a positive outcome.
