I recently went to the CrossGates Leeds store & the lady whose name tag read Kim(nice but Dim) was absolutely LOVELY. She had a lot going on but still dealt with us with compassion & care (my Dad pass... See more

As I recall, the online process of making the large landscape photobook was okay (but it's a while ago now, so I don't remember in much detail!)
Having then submitted my order, I contacted my local Max Speilman/maxphoto store (located within Asda) to ask if they could expedite the order, explaining that it's intended for a 50th anniversary event where it's to be presented to my 89-year-old father in appreciation of 50 years of his cycle club. The store staff at the above branch, Bournemouth were pleasant enough, assuring me that they would try to expedite it.
Meanwhile the event has been and gone and no sign of the photobook: no updates, no tracking... It just says 'processing' on the order page.
About a week ago (before the anniversary dinner event of 22nd November), I spoke to someone called Lee, apparently from the Southampton store but working at Bournemouth that day, who said something like, great news it's ready, but he didn't know when it would arrive.
Would be nice to have tracking at least, to mitigate this hopelessly baffled feeling.
Thankfully, I produced the small books (one for each guest at the event), on Snapfish: they arrived within a couple of days - phew!
I hundred percent recommend Snapfish over max speilman (aka maxphoto) based on my recent experience: soooo disappointed, gutted, about this order and the lack of communication (except when initiated from me by phoning the store off the hook until they get fed up and answer, which always turns out to be in vain). If only I'd used Snapfish for both the large and small books! (But at least I didn't have all my eggs in one basket, I suppose.)
If only I could get a proper status update at least!!
As I write, I've tried escalating my enquiry to the store manager, but haven't yet heard back.
I realise it's the run-up to Christmas but this is unacceptable, given that the stated time is 5 days, and that this is just one, albeit large, book! I submitted my order on the 14th and it's now the 28th.
I'm thinking of getting the large book redone on Snapfish, so at least it might be possible to give to my dad at Christmas instead. But then I'll need to claim the refund (£58) from maxphoto ...Good luck with that, I guess!...
I'll be sure to update this review depending on the response (if any) to my cry for help!

Update (2 days after writing the above) - book now received. The quality is good: I'm satisfied with the result, but still I feel that the time estimate for delivery was very misleading.

🌟 Five-Star Experience at Max Spielmann – Strood Branch 🌟
I recently visited the Max Spielmann store in Strood and had an excellent experience from start to finish. I was served by two wonderful ladies, Ruth and Rose, who were both incredibly friendly, professional and helpful.
They made the whole process smooth and enjoyable, taking the time to ensure everything was done perfectly. Their warm attitude and great customer service really stood out and made my visit a pleasure.
Thank you, Ruth and Rose, for providing such a fantastic experience you are a credit to the Strood branch!

We arrived at Tescos in Yeovil and was greeted by a member of staff called Hollie who very kindly booked us in for the next day. Upon arriving the next day with our little foster child we met Jackie the photographer who did an absolute first class portrait session of our little foster daughter with her angel wings on. we were overwhelmed with the quality of this session and could not believe what service you could get by going into Tescos. We highly recommend this service and the staff to anyone wanting a portrait.

We have had excellent service previously at the Caernarfon branch, getting passport photos for the Netherlands. We took them to the temporary embassy in Chester this weekend, but they were not quite happy with them. Computer said no. We hurried to the shop in Chester itself, who took new passport photos at very short notice, with no charge! These were accepted for the passport application, to our great relief. Your staff were friendly and so helpful, so thank you again.

The lady running the shop could not have been more helpful, though she was run off her feet!
And the photos weren’t bad either!

I just wasted £10 on passport pictures. They got rejected as they were deemed Black & White when they should have been be full colour.
I follow their vague instructions. Really useless.
In the end I used a picture from my phone taken by my son. No problem and free.
So annoying!!!

I contacted their customer service as they suggested. They asked me to email them a copy of the pictures and they would issue a refund, which I did.
Waste of time. Never heard from them again. So please don't bother to even try...

Finally the customer service contacted me and gave me a full refund. So although the pictures didn't work at least they customer service team follow up eventually and recognise their mistake.

The staff members are always just a joy to work with particularly the manager Michelle, of the clifton moor york branch, she is so positive & talented helping me create fantastic pictures & projects with with a lasting impact. She is eager to get involved in my projects I present to her, & has lots of brilliant ideas of her own that we have incorporated. A very happy customer I highly recommend a trip to max spielmann.

Again Bhavishni came to my rescue when printing photos from my phone. Not only is she very knowledgeable about products, but always seems to find a way to print my photos when my mobile is not doing what its asked. She`s always polite and very helpful.

I ordered 2 photo print Christmas decorations for a friend’s birthday. One had the photo already in and was the great, the second one had the photos in a template I had to cut out … then try and prize them into the bottom of the decoration leaving it looking tacky and having a small crack. I 100% would t of ordered it if I knew it was the case.

Stay well away from their photobooths if you need a photo ID - the image quality was very poor, very over exposed, could barely make myself out on the picture, £10 wasted. AVOID.

I regrettably used a Maxphoto kiosk will visiting a Tesco store recently. The machine instructions seemed deliberately vague to me and resulted in my being charged for 5 sets of the same photos when I only required one set. When I complained to their customer service they were unsympathetic and declined a refund as apparently the instructions are indeed very clear and therefore I suppose down to my own stupidity. How very kind of them! I consider this approach to be an unfair and sharp practice.

I visited the Honiton Photo Booth for passport photo. I was charged twice but only the second attempt of using the service was successful after calling the customer service and they rebooted the system. I sent a refund request for the first attempt through the online form of their website 3 days ago but haven’t received any responses so far. The photo taken is fuzzy over part of my face and hair which is only obvious after printing but not during the preview on screen. I doubt if my photo can pass through Home Office check.

As a photographer I normally go to this store as it is the only place in Hanley Stoke on Trent which prints photos off. The shop is very neat and tidy and the staff here are very helpful and friendly yesterday whist ordering some prints I was appoached by one of the ladies on the till who commented and told me that I had an impressive collection of photos. Would recommend anyone to use them

There were only team members on & the other was a man.
She was helpful, kind, proffessional & genuine in her customer service.
I struggle due to disabilities & becoming overwhelmed & she was excellent
The lady had long blonde hair

During a recent visit to the Max Spielmann 3730 branch located within the ASDA store in Sweetbriar, Norwich, I sought to obtain a passport photograph for my two-month-old infant. The initial photograph was taken by a staff member; however, it later became apparent that the image did not fully comply with the official passport specifications. Consequently, we returned to the shop with the intention of retaking the photograph and paying for the replacement service.
Upon our return, we were assisted by Dan, a member of staff whose professionalism and customer-oriented attitude were exemplary. Dan retook the photograph, ensuring that every technical requirement was met with precision. When we attempted to pay for the new photograph, he graciously declined, noting that he recalled our earlier visit and that a replacement fee was unnecessary.
This gesture reflects a remarkable level of integrity and customer care—attributes that are often cited as hallmarks of service excellence but rarely experienced in practice. Dan’s conduct not only rectified an earlier inconvenience but also reinforced our confidence in the brand’s commitment to client satisfaction.
In an era where transactional efficiency often eclipses personal interaction, this experience stood out as a model of ethical and empathetic customer service. The Max Spielmann team at ASDA Sweetbriar, Norwich, clearly embodies the principles of professionalism, accountability, and goodwill. Their approach merits both recognition and continued patronage.
I wholeheartedly commend Dan and his colleagues for their exceptional service. I will undoubtedly continue to support this establishment and encourage others to do the same.

I was in the Saltcoats store today, and I wasn't sure how to print my photos and the lady there could not be more helpful. She's very cheerful too and we had a laugh. Great service. Will be back there for more of my photos.

I went into this shop and asked the assistant about taking pics of my phone and printing them up.
Him seemed bored and uninterested, another man came in with a parcel, the assistant just walked away and left me high and dry, thought this very rude and walked out. First time l was ever in there and the last..
