McCabes Pharmacy group is a 100% Irish owned and operated chain of pharmacies and was founded in 1977 when Roy and Margaret McCabe returned home from Australia after emigrating 10 years earlier. They understood the need for a more complete healthcare solution, one that encompassed both traditional health care and dispensing along with new market leading services such as Cholesterol and blood pressure health checks. The group grew over the years with three of the four McCabes sisters all being involved in the business, involvement that continues to this day. McCabes Pharmacy group now operates over 30 stores nationwide and continues to be a pioneer in the Irish pharmacy market, offering the innovative products and exceptional service that Roy and Margaret founded the business on 40 years ago

Shocking is the only word to describe it. 4 people frantically falling over each other trying to fill prescriptions. The can never find the details on their systems when you call to collect and the prescription ia never ready. Every time you are told "it'll be another 15 minutes". Untrained customer facing staff. Incompetent pharmacists. No control. Someone is going to end up with the wrong prescription and end up seriously ill or worse.

There was a problem with a short supply of one item of medication. The pharmacist in Carpenterstown, Isabella could not have been more helpful. She emailed me a detailed alternative and also gave me an emergency supply. When the shortage problem was resolved she updated me by email and had them ready when I called in. Great and professional service.

I received a phone call from the Dundrum store to say I had won the raffle where if you spend over €15 on vitamins you are entered free into the raffle I was delighted and now today they ring me to say it was a mistake someone else won needless to say I will be purchasing my vitamins elsewhere very poor customer service

Ordered o the 27th of July and still have not recieved my order on the 11th of August. No follow up on their part to keep me informed, left up to me to ensure that McCabes complete their part of the contract. Multiple day wait between emails. It seems this company might be a scam.
Bad Experience
I’m very disappointed to share that I had a poor experience at your Baltinglass pharmacy today. I received little to no support while purchasing a product, which led to me buying the wrong item. Moments later, upon realising the mistake in my car, I returned immediately — only to be told I couldn’t exchange it because I had removed the tape from the box.
The staff member involved took no responsibility for the poor guidance provided. While the manager did make an effort to calm the situation, I still left without a suitable product and €26 out of pocket, having bought something I didn’t need and left it behind in the store.
As someone who has supported this pharmacy regularly in a local town, I expected better. I would strongly suggest further staff training around customer service and product knowledge, as well as a greater sense of accountability when mistakes are made.
Based on today’s experience, I will no longer be shopping here and will be taking my business to Mc Greals.

Booked and paid for a blood test on line.
The appointment was for 10:00. On my way to the appointment I was called to say my appointment had been cancelled due to not having any test kits.
I had to fast for 12 hours for this test and I was almost arriving before I got the call.
Poor service, won’t use again.
My prescription was sent in last week
My prescription was sent in last week. 5 days later it’s still not ready. This is the most incompetent place ever . Someone will end up seriously ill or dead. They employ very young people who haven’t a clue and u can never get them on the phone. Dangerous practice!
Complete lack of concern for regular family customer
On 7th of July ‘25 - I accidentally splashed cleaning chemical into my eye.
I quickly went to My LOCAL McCabe‘s pharmacy yellow Walls Road, Malahide.
I waited until the pharmacist and his assistant arrived. I then got out of the car whilst holding my left eye with a handkerchief and pleaded with them to help me with an eyewash. I explained to them that I had got chemical in my eye which was clearly obvious anyway however one of them suggested that I should try Centra supermarket
Then they opened the locked door went inside and locked me out. - it was now after the publicised opening time of 9.00am - perhaps their early morning coffee is more important than customers !
I then drove 2 km with my only one good eye functioning into the village and I was kindly assisted to wash my contaminated left eye with the staff of Boots pharmacy who not only allowed me to jump the queue but kindly helped me administer the eyewash to my eye.
Shocking lack of concern …

Called over the phone few times to get my prescription ready for collection. Waited 10min few times on my brake but no answer.
Absolutely waste of time. Not using them any time soon again.
Very unprofessional
Went into gorey today with a prescription of 40 tablets and was told It wouldn’t be ready till Wednesday the doctor gave me the first 4 tablets on Sunday and said take 4 a day for a week so needed them in a hurry. My wife gets her prescription there all the time she rang on Wednesday twice no answer, she got through on Thursday and was told they would be there on Monday so while I was there I ask for her prescription, it’s wasn’t ready wasn’t even printed form the site told me to come back in 20 mins so I left and went to the pharmacy across the road and gave her my prescription and it took 10 mins , went back of after 20 mins they had to give different tablets and they didn’t have the ones on the prescription then to top if off she said she has to charge me two fees because the doctor wrote two prescriptions , won’t be going back the place is a joke
Very rude and unpleasant staff, very upsetting encounter
Very rude and unpleasant staff, Clare hall branch. Went to pay for item and it was more expensive than I expected, asked cashier if I could pay by card instead, I was told NO that it was rung up on the till, I suggested that she do a refund and start again, then another staff member came over and cancelled the purchase, the first girl then stated that 'I had gotten out of the bed on the wrong side and that it was only 9.30am'. This really was so rude and ended up with the staff member shouting that she wasn't paid enough for this, I reminded her that the customers pay her salary. I had to ask for my cash back which the first girl had put in the till. I will never go to this shop again, I worked for twenty plus years in pharmacy and if I or any staff member behaved like this we would have been given our P45 there and then! I am embarrassed that I got cross with this girl, but McCabe's management you need to address customer service issues, serval customers commented outside the shop that the staff where very rude in the store. I go to Boots in Donaghmeade normally polite, happy staff, always met with a smile...which is not always easy.

I purchased dental products and I got the wrong products and when I contacted customer service they told me that the products “ ordered “ were out of stock and they would get back to me to resolve this matter . Still waiting . I have dealt with this company for years and never had to return anything , but if something Is not in stock don’t send an alternative. Very poor customer serve 😕
Robbed of €45
Made an order online, this was for pickup in The Crescent Limerick, Order was taking too long for something that would have been on the shelf, as I heard nothing I cancelled the order and asked for my refund, then 2 days later I was told via email order was ready, I reminded them I was waiting for a refund as they took a week for a simple order, chased refund now for 2 weeks, they must be desperate for €45

The lovely staff forced to wait outside until the pharmacist arrives. I'm waiting to collect my prescription since 9.00. Head Office in McCabes need to treat their staff and customers better.

Had to give 1 star as no option to give nine. Service has dropped dramatically since McCabes took over this pharmacy. Too many mistakes being made and now of a more serious nature. You are made feel unwelcome every time you enter the pharmacy, poor assistance no empathy fir customers who are obviously ill or helping loved ones who are. Dreadful administration where you must allow 24 to 48 hours for prescriptions to be filled. This you can manage for repeats but new ones on discharge from hospital or Doctors care not always possible! but they don't CARE! Mislaying prescriptions and as a customer made to feel it's your fault, miscalculation when a new prescription is due to issue, and on and on! But it is serious when wrong prescription is dispensed. Happened to both my wife and I on seperate occasions. No apology even! This is professional misconduct of a most serious nature. And today my wife was being charged for HRT eventhough now eventually free!! Is this fraudulent? We have had enough of this unprofessional and poor customer service. Going elsewhere as soon as current prescriptions run out. If you too are a customer always check what they charge you, keep copies of your prescriptions and check that what you are given is as per your prescription.
