My experience with ME Bank has been extremely poor, and I would not recommend them.
The biggest issue is their communication and response time. Whether you contact them by email, internal message, or phone, it routinely takes a minimum of four days to receive a reply — longer if it’s over a weekend. In today’s age of technology, that is simply not acceptable.
When you do get through by phone, the wait times are long, and the service feels disconnected and unprofessional. Staff often can’t transfer you directly to the right department, and when they promise a callback, it rarely happens the same day.
Another ongoing frustration is their slow money transfer system. Moving funds between ME Bank and the major banks is unreasonably delayed, showing they are well behind in banking technology.
Overall, my experience with ME Bank has been slow, frustrating, and disappointing from start to finish. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for a bank that values efficiency and customer service.

Not impressed with security and customer service
Don’t be tempted by decent interest rates. I was the victim of a fraudulent account takeover and getting my funds back in a timely manner has been a nightmare despite alerting the bank on the day that my account was taken over . 3 weeks later I’m still waiting for my money to be refunded . ME Bank’s security protocol seems to be lacking .
A good bank that lost everything that made them special
I've been a ME bank customer for about 7 years. They used to special. Over the last 6 months I've moved most of my accounts to other banks, as they've dropped products and dropped the better than average rates they used to have. Now they're just the same as the big guys. But with less features.

Would give 0 if I could - never been so frustrated in my life. All of a sudden their online banking and app stopped sending the security code to my phone! Called, couldn't get through, message said use online chat that took longer!!! then when they came on they can't help! said reload the app - tried and now cannot get in as it needs the security code that it cannot send ------!!!!!
MeBank lost my trust and respect. I've moved on.
After hanging on far longer than I should have hoping things would improve I finally closed all my accounts with MeBank. Ever since the launch of the MeGo app and, let's not forget the major outage back in late January 2024 (the system was down for nearly 29 hours from the evening of January 24), things have gone steadily downhill.
Both the app and the online banking portal are plagued with recurring errors and glitches that remain unresolved. I’ve reported them repeatedly, and customer service has even acknowledged that other customers are experiencing the same problems yet nothing has changed. It’s frustrating to stick with a bank that doesn’t act on feedback or deliver even the most basic functionality reliably.
I’ve now moved to Bank Australia, and the difference is remarkable. The app actually works, the features are intuitive, and customer service has been outstanding. Everything feels modern, stable, logical and user friendly, a far cry from MeBank’s Go banking system.
MeBank, you had plenty of chances to turn things around but instead you just added to the failures. It’s disappointing to see a bank fall so far.
Slow
Overall, ill admit i never had an issue banking WITH Me bank. In process of refinancing and switching to a new lender.
54min hold time to get a discharge paper. Yes, you can download it yourself, however you still need the "unique" discharge number which can only be obtained via Me bank.
The discharge process...... 20-23 Business days... WTF...The only bank I've come across that for no other reason other than to annoy you and keep you waiting. Even my broker said, Yep, ridiculous, and only a Me bank thing. Apparently, there's constant and regular issues dealing with Me Bank.
Reading other reviews, it seems others have had similar issues when leaving Me, especially if you have a mortgage with them.

ME have lost the plot it’s time to leave
I have been an ME customer for approximately 25yrs. This includes two mortgages, multiple accounts and a Mastercard. I’ve recently started to transition away from ME due to the continued decline in service. The days of calling on the phone and being answered in a reasonable time frame are well and truly over. Right now I have been on hold for over 45mins. I’m attempting to call to ask why my request made over a week ago, to absorb my additional mortgage payments back into the loan, has still not been actioned? In fact I have just been advised this request is likely to take two weeks! I am disappointed that the Mastercard product has been withdrawn. Plus, I cannot believe ME is still playing the same painful music on a repeated loop after all these years. Finally, no Osko facility! I’m getting out.
ME bank no longer provides customer…
ME bank no longer provides customer service. Three weeks ago I had to call them repeatedly to get a card cancelled. They make it impossible to contact them any other way so I had to spend over an hour each time. I registered a complaint and guess what? Still waiting. Useless
Lazy and incompetent
I am actually (gulp) a mortgage broker and I can’t even get a closure letter for one of my own home loans that we paid out. It’s now been 3x weeks since the original phone call. What a joke.

I've been with ME for over 25yrs, but since selling out to BOQ in mid 2021, their service is non existent.
Online banking changes are frustrating and delayed.
Now changing banks, as I'm fed up!
Customer service is also dreadful.

Untruthful
I have been a customer for something like 30+ years. The customer service was helpful a long long time ago. My home loan accounts disappeared from the system after they transitioned to this new banking application. After repeated calls and assurances that the accounts would be reinstated and that they would call me back...nothing has happened for 5 months. They never return phone calls, do not respond to emails and they do not follow up on their words.
Untruthful and do not know how to treat customers in a respectful manner...

Worse bank ever i dont want to give them any stars..Dont bank or get home loan with Me Bank. Been with them for 5 yrs they have overdrawn my account by taking two home loan repayments out on a number of times left me with no money for days then my other bills get dishonoured and starts a chain reaction no apologies nothing dont bank with ME BANK F N SHIT customer service as well liars..
Intentional obfuscation to avoid paying
We set up a high interest account, and they paid us ~10% of what we were due for Oct 2024. We complained, and they said we hadn't met the deposit criteria (which we had), but that they'd make an "interest adjustment" as a once-off gesture. We took this to mean a full payment. It was another ~5%. We complained again and they never replied.
Ignores discharge request.....
I have been with ME Bank for 10yrs and recently requested to change banks so all of my banking is with the same bank.The commonwealth bank requested we wanted to book in a settlement date and discharge form to move forward on the 18th of February and its taken 6 weeks for ME to delay the process and ignore it.
When you call on the phone you are put on hold and moved from one person to another.
It's taken from the 18th of February to the 2nd of April just to recieve a different form for discharge.Maybe provide better customer service.In the 10yrs I have not received any positive updates or incentives.
I am glad I am moving away from this company.

deceitful interest charges on home loan
They can charge you home loan interest even if they tell you in bank statements that you ow about 2cents, I have just received a payout figure of $1500.

Refuse to refund cyber fraud
I was a victim of cyber fraud. Multiple small purchases were made on my card account in Melbourne, during a period when i was travelling overseas - with the card! I had notified ME Bank that I was travelling overseas. The card had obviously been skimmed and small purchases were made over three days until the card was maxed out. ME have refused to refund stating that I gave my card details or PIN number to a third party - which I did not! Clearly ME Bank are liable for these purchases, but are obviously just trying this on. Off to the Ombudsman and closing my accounts

Worst bank in australia, cancelling credit card after 10yrs, no option to balance transfer to BOQ who owns them. Theyve killed the bank , perhaps that was the plan, now have to rearrange my business and leave me bank. selfish.
NO STARS!!!!! Stay away from ME Bank
I have been a loyal customer for about 20 years and have even encouraged friends/family to use ME. For the past 10 years, my son and I transfer funds to each other with the transfer always being almost instant, but this has suddenly been changed. Apparently, funds transfers can now take up to 2 days! Money is immediately removed from my account and goes who knows where for 2 days, then it appears in my son's account - but he needed the money when I sent it!! The bank has been doing this for years under the "old system" but the new system has changed this - BUT I call boulderdash.
This is 2025, and all of this is computerised, so everything is instant - if they want it to be! They took my money instantly!
When I made a complaint, they didn't care and pathetically, did absolutely nothing to help.
