Thanks to Medical Projects I got great overview what life of the doctor looks like. Not only did I acquire important skills which are necessary in life of every doctor such as cannulation or getting the patient's history, but more importantly I realised how important in the doctor's life is teamwork, honesty and perseverance.

An unforgettable two weeks!

It was an amazing experience that I will never forget. I felt that there needed to be more options as for some people there for two or more weeks it gets a bit repetitive doing the same three things. However the hospitals we did go to were great, we did sometimes have to make the first step, asking questions, but once we did we got along really well with the doctors we were shadowing. This trip has given me links to people all around the world: I am still in touch with one of the doctors there in Tanzania, and with most of the students that were there with me. I felt there needed to be more, free, sight seeing as we are in Africa, near mount Kilimanjaro and for some it is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
For the medical students there with us, they were great fun and help, opening more universities up to me, giving advise, and talking about relatable situations: such as failing the UCAT and how to work around it.
Thank you for this, it was my first experience of Africa, and an unforgettable one!

Overall would recommend to someone else

Really enjoyable week. Accommodation and food were good enough. The doctor was very professional and we learnt a lot from the sessions, and the simulation suite really let us improve our teamwork. I especially enjoyed learning how to suture. The mock MMI morning was very useful. They also gave us plenty of time to explore London.

However, I was a bit sad that although at the time of the booking there was an escape room scheduled, we did not get to do one. I also would’ve liked to perhaps shadow a doctor for a day in the hospital, though I understand that it would’ve been a bit of a squeeze in a week. Lastly, I feel that the UCAT/application day was great for international students who perhaps didn’t know the UK system, but didn’t add much for UK students.

Good

Lots of advice for applying to med school. Simulations were exciting and challenging. Would recommend.

My only complaint: dinners weren't very good.

Amazing opportunity for all

It was an eye opening experience into the medical world. Not only that but also to issues that are prevalent in the third world. For me the medical projects team were able to find a perfect balance of socialising through evening activities and holding sessions to help prepare for applying to med school. Would thoroughly recommend to friends and family.

One of the Best Medical Courses!

PROJECT LONDON

There is a very busy schedule during the week at Project London, with a lot of very important and interesting material to cover.
There was never a time where I felt like there was nothing to do.
The medical procedures I learnt during the course were suturing wounds; performing CPR for a cardiac arrest; inserting a cannula; taking blood pressure readings; taking a patients history and so much more.

The experience is so invaluable and is a brilliant taster of what life is like for a doctor and even anyone considering being in any associated health related role.

I was skeptical of making friends when I signed up to the course, however, the people you meet are unlike the majority of those within your school, everyone you meet are determined, focused and career-ready individuals who passionately care about doing well in school. I made a wonderful group of friends from a wide variety of backgrounds and became very close very quickly with them through our shared characters and career aspirations.

It is a fantastic opportunity to explore the whole of London. There are many chances to go with friends around the city of London and try out new things for example London Dungeons seemed to be an interest for us.

For me, the food each night could have had a little more appeal, however gave a very good representation of the traditional food of Great Britain. There are many opportunities to eat out with friends and even order Papa John's Pizza.

The staff were absolutely brilliant and so friendly. From the moment I met each staff member I felt extremely comfortable around their presence and enjoyed many laughs and interesting chats with them.
Any advice, help or anything you needed, you could trust the team to professionally resolve and help you out. Not to mention, there was an outstanding doctor for the week who was assigned to our Project London group and was constantly available to answer any questions about anything from what its like being a doctor to advice on applying. Not only that but she took charge of the lessons and simulations throughout the week, teaching us many things in medicine from her extensive knowledge.

Again I really recommend Project London to anyone who either doesn't know if they want to be a doctor or not, maybe wants to work in healthcare, definitely wants to be a doctor or anyone who is exploring career choices and wants to experience a fantastic week in London.

I could not be more satisfied, thank you very much!

At first I wondered if this would be a waste but the experience I've had has made me want to do Medicine more stronger. They teach your first year medical basics and give you an insight into reality in a ward. The stimalutions was the most fun because it gives you the confidence step by step to deal with worse conditions calmly and helps you focus on the situation.
