Thank you for giving us a try and for the honest feedback! We're glad your Biology experience has been positive. We've been working hard to improve every week, so it means a lot to hear things are heading in the right direction.

We also run Medly Mondays, where a different subject is completely free every Monday with unlimited access for the whole day, so you can always try out other subjects for yourself and see how they compare! Check out the timetable here: https://www.medlyai.com/uk/medlymondays

Thanks again for choosing Medly! :)

its worth it

The experience was amazing since there were a large amount of questions available but some of the questions are not exam board friendly. Especially for sociology, the theories are not covered in the exam board. Other than that, its a great app!

Very helpful for exam questions

I started using Medly because I wanted a quick way of practicing exam questions (for A level Biology) as this is what I struggle most with. I was finding I knew the content, but figuring out what the questions were actually asking was where I was losing marks.

The things I have found most helpful are:
- instant marking of exam questions
- very clear on how to get the marks I have missed
- helps me to understand exactly what the question is asking me

Areas to improve:
- sometimes feel like the marking is lenient or not harsh enough (biology aqa markschemes are very specific)
- gives you the markscheme straight away when it marks it - I would prefer if it gave it to you after you have figured out the correct answer

I think it is expensive for what it is and I would have considered it earlier if the price was lower, but it is a cheaper alternative to a tutor which is what it’s marketed to be. I definitely feel more confident when it comes to exam questions which is what I wanted. They have hundreds of exam questions for each topic which is great because I was struggling to find topic-specific questions. Overall I think it’s great.

Thank you so much for your detailed review. We’re really pleased to hear Medly has helped you feel more confident with A-Level Biology exam questions and understand what questions are really asking.

We appreciate your feedback on marking strictness. Our marking system is designed to be slightly more lenient in some cases, especially in longer answers, to encourage learning progression rather than overly penalising near-correct responses. That said, we are continuously improving our platform so we really appreciate your feedback.

We totally understand your point about the cost. To give you some context: the way our platform works means each user generates significant AI costs every time they practice, get feedback, or use the tutor. Unlike a static revision site, every interaction is computed in real-time, especially with unlimited use, which does add up quickly.

That said, we’re always looking for ways to make our platform more accessible as it has always been our mission to make personalised education accessible for everyone, regardless of their background.

We have recently released a weekly event for every student called Medly Mondays, where one subject's practice questions and Textbook Mode are free to use with unlimited access for a full day each week: https://www.medlyai.com/uk/medlymondays

We're also actively working on more personalisation features that'll help you get even more out of the platform quickly, whether you're on the free or paid version. In the meantime, thank you so much for choosing Medly and for your understanding! :)

We completely understand your perspective about not revealing the full mark scheme straight away. The tutor is designed to guide you step-by-step, but in some cases, it can feel like it is revealing too much and too quickly. We’re always looking for ways to improve our platform so feedback like this really helps us!

tried out the medly monday on biology and love it so much, so many questions especially 2-4 markers. Excited for the next few medly mondays especially for chemistry, maths, history and the english's. One thing I would say is that if theres a question that you get partially wrong or fully wrong, maybe we shouldnt get the mark scheme just yet so that when we try it again we dont fully know the answer? Also I had seen the exam builder from a while ago and I would love if it came back. Overall really amazing

Overall, good and little to be left wanting for

Medley is overall a very good site for learning. It encourages active revision and overall good exam technique when answering questions. The AI chatbot is focussed and useful, and as far as I'm aware has never fed me false info or mislead me. The past papers I have available are useful and in depth, covering all topics within said paper. The reason I don't give it 5 stars is it lacks the History courses i'm doing at GCSE and choosing how many marks you want your question to have is impossible for any subject other than English Lang.

We completely understand your point about the missing History courses and the ability to filter questions by mark allocation. Subject coverage is something we’re actively expanding, and feedback like this helps us prioritise what to add next. The idea of being able to choose question marks across more subjects is also a great suggestion and we will definitely look into this.

Thanks again for the constructive feedback, it really helps us improve!

medly is so helpful because it saves me so much time and money that i would’ve spent to print endless exam questions. i love that when you get stuck on a question you can always ask the chatbot and it breaks tho question down without giving the answer straightaway which makes us actively recall knowledge and put it all together to hit those mark scheme specific points to achieve those higher grades. i love how concise and precise the marking points are which saves more time and is easier to understand where i’ve lost and gained marks.

When I first purchased this it was…

When I first purchased this it was really good. However, I changed cards when I renewed and it lost all my daughter's progress. She was so upset.
I made a payment on the 4th January and there have been glitches. Despite my daughter and I changing the password she couldn't get in. There is nowhere to ring and chat wasn't working so I emailed Medleyai. As per their own advice. That was days ago and no response.
Very disappointed. It has been a waste of £25. My daughter has exams in May. There are cheaper options. Unless this is sorted and I get a refund I will not renew and will try a different provider.

Medly is a superb revision app that I in year 11 use frequently and it has with no doubt improved my grades dramatically from a 3 to 8-9s in most subjects.

Amazing but with flaws

Overall I would reccomend people to use this. There is an almost unlimited amount of questions that I can’t see myself running out of anytime soon and they are overall very reflective of the spec. I think this is a perfect tool for people aiming for the A*s who need help perfecting their answers. After an hour and a half of going through the questions I feel far more confident to answer similar questions in an exam setting. However, there are issues, sometimes the ai marks far too leniently, and I want it to be overly harsh rather than overly lenient. The chatbot also tries to help you reach full marks when you get things wrong but hands you the markscheme before it starts to give the support. Furthermore, in psychology the papers are nowhere near reflecting real past papers and honestly I don’t even see a point in using them.
Also, there are certain markschemes which do not reflect the specificity of the specification and are more close to other exam boards, however this is a rare occurrence and I have only noticed this 2-3 times (but it should be 0).

Furthermore, it only allows you to filter by topic, I think an amazing feature would be to alllow us to filter by exam skill, because I don’t have time to get through the entire set in one revision block so allowing this feature would allow me to cover all the different skills I need without wasting time.

Overall If you can afford medly’s pricepoint then 100% I would reccomend, but if not do not feel that your are missing out on too much as I think the programme is simply too brand new to be perfect.

Hi Oscar,

Thank you again for such a detailed and thoughtful review, we really appreciate the time you’ve taken to share this.

As a platform that only launched last year, our team is working hard to continuously improve Medly by introducing new features and content, refining existing material, and of course, resolving bugs as quickly as possible.

On the point about marking being lenient, there can be variation in how responses are interpreted and marked, even among the most experienced teachers and tutors. That said, we’re constantly refining our marking models to make feedback more consistent, transparent, and useful, particularly for students aiming for top grades.

Regarding Psychology papers, this is an active area of development for us. We’d be very grateful if you could share any specific examples with us at contact@medlyai.com, as this helps our academic team review and improve the content.

Thanks again for taking the time to share such constructive feedback, it genuinely helps us improve.

Good revision website

Medly is a really good way to revise, even better than flashcards since you can actually practice with practice questions and have a personal AI tutor that properly explains the concept until you understand. What I wish is there to be a more exam boards to study from since for some subjects, there are some subjects that have a different exam board, not AQA, Edexcel, ORC or WRC. For now I've been revising with exam boards that have similar topics to the subjects but I wish for there to be more exam boards to study from, like Eduqas for History and RE. There aren't any languages' subjects so I hope you will add that soon for some people taking languages as a GCSE or A-level. I hope that you will also add triple science subjects as well for people doing triple science, since there are no triple science options here.

Thank you for your honest feedback. We’re glad to hear you’ve found Medly helpful for practice and learning. We completely understand your frustration around pricing and subject availability, especially when not all of your A-Level subjects are currently supported.

We get lots of subject requests and they all get logged, ordered by volume of requests. The main problem and bottleneck is the more we push ourselves the more likely we are to make mistakes. We'll keep trying but do better but please bare with us as we may need to go a bit slower with adding subjects to prevent any more spec issues.

I really like using this app

I really like using this app, but sometimes i ask a question to the ai and it completely dodges
it, to add to that, the maths system on this app isn't the best, but everything else works really well. I really want them to add flashcards though.

We understand your point about the AI occasionally not addressing a question directly. In most cases, this is intentional, as the tutor is designed to guide you step-by-step rather than give answers outright.
