What about our health?

Been a couple of times before to this St Albans branch. Atmosphere and service excellent. My real concern, as with many restaurants, is the amount of salt used in all its food. Like so many older people, I have high blood pressure, so avoiding salt is crucial to our health. Megan's must have some of the saltiest food around! I won't be visiting again.

An absolute shambles

Anb absolute shambles, pre booked a large table at chsiwick and took 2 and a half hours to get just a starter and a main. Complete mess up on the drinks, 3 starters short and told we didnt order and my fault but we pulled out the email and voila it was there and they apologised. Food arrived cold. I had asked 3 times for a little patience as were paying in groups and then they brought out the bill for the whole table. Took 25 mins to get another bill and we ended being late for our show. I then wrote a letter of complaint to them and never got a reply, fuming, would never go back

Megan's Overated

Visited Megan's Kingston for the first time to celebrate a birthday. The overall décor and vibe were great — stylish, cosy, and perfect for a special occasion.

Unfortunately, the food was very disappointing. It arrived barely lukewarm, with no real presentation. Our platter was served on two cold metal trays with the tiniest dishes to eat from, which made the experience feel quite underwhelming. For the price, it was nowhere near the standard I’d expect — honestly, it’s something I could have made better at home. Thankfully, they kept the bottomless prosecco flowing for the full 90 minutes - hence the two stars given.

To make matters worse, the toilets were filthy and there was no loo roll, which really let the place down.

It feels like with many restaurant chains that expand too quickly, the quality starts to slip — and sadly that seems to be the case here. Overall, overpriced and disappointing. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning anytime soon.

Went to Megans in Welwyn Garden City…

Went to Megans in Welwyn Garden City for lunch. We were seated and then ignored. We sat for about 30 mins and watched as people who came after us had their orders taken. We waited and tried to catch the servers attention, but were completley ignored. The place was not busy. After about 30 mins we got up and walked out. Doubt if anybody (staff) even realised we had left. Would not go there again. If you are hungry I would recommend any other eatery.

Megan's at Chiswick- I am very disappointed and feel ripped off/ over charged.

Megan's at Chiswick- I am disappointed and feel ripped off by their waiter Alex . When we got home and checked the bill we found that we have been overcharged. The house water bottles we were given were charged at £1.50each. He first gave us 2 bottles, when they were half empty Alex took hem away and replaced them with another 2 full bottles charging us £3.00 again. We did not need these bottles as we were only 4 at the table- how much water can we drink? So we ended paying £6.00 for water! its annoying because it was not mineral water nor any commercial product. During the meal we asked for chilly sauce and again we were charged £2 for 2 smallest containers I have seen. Megans are the meanest restaurant in Chiswick. Customers should check their bill carefully for the unexpected additional charges. Do not accept water in their bottle. Ask for tap water in a jug and do not ask for any condiments they charge £1.00 for 2 spoonfuls of sauce. So paid £2.00 for this, so conned by £8.00.
Very very disappointing experience, ripped off by £8.00. I and my group will not return to Megans at Chiswick.

Had such a lovely time at Megan’s in St Albans! The food was delicious, the cocktails were perfect, and the service couldn’t have been friendlier - really warm and welcoming throughout. The decor is also gorgeous. Will definitely be coming back!

Overprice boring food

Nice atmosphere and deco. That's about it tbh. Ordinary overpriced food served by a waitress that was a Z gen AI robot. I fear this chain will become like Bill's and suffer the same demising fate.

Fraudulent Company Operations - No Meaningful Way To Contact Them

I want to love this chain but there are some REAL problems with the way that the company is run. You have to be very careful not to be overcharged.

I made a mistake purchasing a Gift Card and I quickly found that there was no real way to contact the company. At the time - only by Web Form, and you had to direct the form to a specific restaurant location, who don't deal with central administration issues.

I contacted my nearest restaurant via the Web Form (twice) and was ignored on both occasions. I called in at my nearest restaurant and was informed that I should provide my details and the manager would be in touch, they did not get in touch - again, I was ignored.

I called a number provided by my credit card company - never any answer!

Finally I gave in and decided that I needed to spend the voucher before it expired, so I visited another Megan's restaurant (not my closest) and found myself overcharged on my gift card - the waitress had not applied the set menu offer and instead withdrew the full amount of the meal cost from my gift card balance, never once presenting me with a bill.

When I reconciled what had happened, I returned to contact Megan's via their Web Form system with the transaction id and photo of the gift card receipt..

I was initially contacted via email to request the receipt again, then I was ignored. I chased for a response and was informed that they did not contact me because they were not able to trace the transaction from the gift card receipt (despite a transaction id being clearly printed on it). I had since replied asking about this, and again - have been ignored.

I've since had to return (ironically) to my nearest restaurant to spend the remainder of my gift card - and this time, witnessed another table to which the same issue occurred and the manager was needed to sort it out - and to my disbelief, this time, when I requested my bill (explicitly wanting to see how it had been accounted for) - the SAME THING happened again, but this time was sorted before paying.

£31 for two glasses of Malbec

£31 for two glasses of Malbec? Seriously? I thought I had been charged for the bottle but no.

As a vegetarian, I thought three mushrooms on a skewer for their vegetarian option was laughably in deficit.

On top of which there was a service charge. Average standard of service.

Pleasant enough staff but you need to up your game and lower the extortionate prices for an acidic glass of wine. Very disappointing .

Not likely ever to repeat the experience: an unsavoury taste was left by more than the Malbec.....shame,really, as I was hoping that Megan's might become a bit of a regular. Not any more. No.

Excited to go to Megans Marlow on our…

Excited to go to Megans Marlow on our spa weekend. Beautifully decorated with fairy lights...looks like a great place for a coffee and chat. Waiting staff were polite and friendly. Sadly the food was beyond disappointing. We had the set meal 3 courses for £21. Every other thing we ordered, including the tiny portions of fries, added £5. It's like they are trying to be a Turkish but not making it. We paid £75 and would have enjoyed our food more had we gone to a kebab shop. Def will not be going here at any location again to eat. Shame as it is my niece's name and was excited to take her had it been enjoyable.

The restaurant in Clapham is so…

The restaurant in Clapham is so dangerous, they have no concept of food hygiene. They nearly killed a guy by an allergy, provided undercooked food and had a rat infestation. The company is so shady, they even charge your card twice.

With respect, if you are thinking about going here don't! if you have been here check your card statement to ensure you have not been billed twice. To be polite, only appropriate to attend on Halloween, at least you will have the expectation of being shocked

Not great

Just returned home after a very disappointing visit to Megan’s Guildford. We were going to go to Bills, our usual breakfast choice, but decided to try Megan’s for our 36th wedding anniversary.
Despite informing them of our anniversary, we were not offered any celebratory drinks and were charged £4.90 for hash browns that we didn’t have!

Charging service charge for a hot drink is ridiculous.
A coffee shop doesn’t charge to serve !
I think Megan’s is expensive for food and in my opinion doesn’t deliver at the price point they occupy.
Done all the chains and this one will probably fade out.

Recent offer for gift vouchers at 20%…

Recent offer for gift vouchers at 20% off, so I ordered online a quantity only to find
A) no discount applied
B) they all came in £10 amounts, rather than one complete voucher.
Emails to Megans go unanswered which is of concern.
Would advise against buying anything from their so called “discount” offers.

Warm brunch in Balham

Our nephew booked for 6 of us in the Balham restaurant. Two of our party were there when we arrived (out of view) but they couldn’t find our reservation so had to wait for a few minutes. Dev, our waiter, was very polite and professional and took our orders. I’d ordered the full English which looked lovely when it arrived but, as with my nephew’s was lukewarm. I tried to attract the attention of somebody but that took five minutes by which time I had half eaten it. They took it away and bought it back 5 minutes later, shovelled onto another plate with half eaten toast and the beans missing (they were in a little metal container). I was going to ask for some but no waiter/waitress came nearby and nobody asked if everything was ok so no chance to do so. Serving food hot is a clear must and our dishes must have been left on the side for a good while and they need to address this. The food quality was definitely good and tasty and the rest of the party enjoyed their food. When, the bill with no reduction, arrived, I explained this and my breakfast was taken off the bill. The staff were all lovely but too few to give 5* service. The atmosphere and decor is really pleasant so we still enjoyed our visit and I thought it was good value for money.
