Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 107 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall due to widespread service shortcomings. People frequently reported frustrating encounters with unhelpful customer support, unresponsive local dealerships, and exceptionally long waiting times for necessary vehicle repairs and ongoing maintenance. Many consumers also strongly complained about excessively high prices for replacement parts and labour, alongside frequent unexpected mechanical failures occurring shortly after purchase. Some reviewers were happy with the helpful, polite, and welcoming staff members encountered at specific local branch locations. A few other people also praised the professional guidance and efficient assistance received during routine maintenance appointments and successful minor vehicle fixes.

I owned a Mercedes E350 convertiblr...

I owned a E350d comvertible for 3 years. It was a 2017 model.
Whilst the car was finished to a high level as per expectations, the ownership experience was appauling! The car was unreliable with emissions sensor issues, operation of the convertible roof, random engine mass sensor issues, leaking water into sills.....and the worry of the vanes on the inlet manifold breaking at any time.

All of the above may have been easier to live with, had the local dealership been accomodating.

The reliability is questionable!
The dealership costs and short term booking for repairs is appauling.
Had my local garage not been so accomodating, living with this car would have been a nightmare.
Even the repair parts are extortionately priced!
When i complained to mercedes, i was told, very sorry to hear that.....and that was it...

I gave the review 2 stars for the look and what the car could and should have been like. It lost 3 stars because it wasnt.....

After 3 years i gave up on the car and traded it at a loss.

I purchased a replacement 3 year old Suzuki Sport Sport and the whole experience thus far is a joy, accomodating dealership, realistic service and parts pricing snd do you know actually a better driving experience.

I wonder if Mercedes is living on a past reputation? Not for me ever again.......

What an experience.

What an experience.. my family felt so welcome and comfortable asking all the probably silly questions we had. No sales pressure either. First class from start to finish now i feel part of the Mercedes family. Mark Langham in particular was a touch of class.. credit to the company.

Awful handover

Awful handover, stress and inconvenience
I travelled to Mercedes-Benz Temple Fortune to collect a brand-new CLA 250+ costing over £52,000, only for the handover to fail because the vehicle had visible damage.

What makes this even more concerning is that a workshop employee told me he was already aware of the issue, yet nobody contacted me before I made the journey and the problem had apparently not been escalated to the sales team.

What should have been an exciting day turned into a complete waste of time, significant inconvenience, unnecessary stress and considerable disappointment. I had taken time out of my day, completed the finance arrangements and travelled expecting to collect a pristine new vehicle.

The transaction ultimately had to be cancelled and unwound.

For a premium brand and a £52,000 purchase, this level of preparation, communication and quality control is simply unacceptable.

Mercedes Swansea amazing

During teething problems with a new CLA, the service I received from Joe, and all staff I came into contact with at Sinclair Mercedes, Swansea was exceptional. Having been in a front-line, customer-focused occupation for more than 30 years, I can say that this was amongst the best care I’ve received.

Immediate and constant updates on the matter, even when my point of contact wasn’t in work. Hasty chase-ups. A courtesy vehicle whilst mine was in. I couldn’t have asked for more. Thank you Joe, and the team at Sinclair Mercedes!

Avoid anything to do with Mercedes Benz unless you are a brand snob.

As a Technician for Mercedes Benz, all I can say is if you want to work on a decent product with good technical backup from the manufacturer, avoid them. Procedures are ridiculous, backup is virtually non existent, the product is extremely poor quality with the emphasis on flashy tech that does not work, rather than build quality & reliability. The cars are extremely difficult to diagnose & repair, technical documentation is often incorrect, if you work in a right hand drive market, its pot luck if the location of components are where Mercedes say they are or not. Outdated diagnostic software and equipment make things even harder, its possible to spend over a day doing software updates, and even then updating one control unit can kill a car, requiring even more work & updates to get them running again. Parts hardly ever arrive from MBUK on time, or the wrong parts are delivered. So much wrong with this company, avoid them or their products like the plague.

Mercedes provided me with an unsafe car…

Mercedes provided me with an unsafe car . rear subframe rotting internally .. they avoided a class action in the USA by offering free replacement .. and also in the UK.
Mercedes refuse to rectify a manufacturing fault .. and had the absolute lying nerve to tell me in an email that the internally rotting rear subframe was not a manufacturing fault .. when it is universally known .. and obviously known to Mercedes that it is .. why else would they offer free replacement in the UK . but apparently not to me .. they have stitched me up with a dangerously unsafe car .. which they refuse to rectify
AND THEY LIE TO ME IN WRITING
DO NOTTOUCH THIS FILTHY COMPANY AND THIER UN SAFE . DANGEROUS VEHICLES

WASTE OF TIME & MONEY…

Had A Class free recall booked in at Mercedes Benz Norwich, booked over the phone no problem and no questions asked !, took half days holiday only to be asked when I got there is there any faults as the update could cause more problems if so !! I said there are no warning lights on so not that I know off. They then put the onus on me to decide if I wanted it done as this could be expensive if there were any faults caused by the update.
To save my time / holiday & 50 mile worth of fuel WHY COULD THEY NOT ASK THESE QUESTIONS OVER THE PHONE ? and I would not have bothered.
My guess is they just want to get you in the door to get ££ out of the customers.

Leased a van

Leased a van, they changed policy would not allow an extension without telling anyone. Even the staff seemed confused. Each time we rang we were kept on hold for over 30 mins trying to talk to anyone. I am in shock and very surprised how bad the service is.

Poor customer service

My car was booked in for a dashboard error, but I received no updates from the dealership. After contacting customer care, I was told it could take 7 days just to get an update on the complaint.
This experience honestly makes me wish I had bought those new cars from East instead.

Worst company to deal with

After more than three months of dealing with a car that was sold with a warranty and has had serious issues that put both my life and my children’s lives at risk, I still have no resolution. The matter has now been escalated to the Motor Ombudsman. Not a good company to deal with

Do not buy a car from Mercedes lakeside

purchased a Mercedes from Mercedes-Benz Lakeside after finding it on Auto Trader. After paying my deposit, I was informed that the car keys had been lost and had to be ordered from Germany, resulting in a three-week delay before I could collect the vehicle.

Within days of collection, I discovered that the air conditioning was not working, the tyres were mismatched, and the radar sensor was faulty. I returned the car for repairs and was given a courtesy car. My vehicle still has not been properly repaired, yet I was asked to cover costs relating to the courtesy car, including a fuel-related issue and additional insurance charges.

What is most disappointing is that I have finance of £27,000 on a vehicle that I have barely been able to enjoy due to faults that should have been identified before sale. The delays, poor communication, and lack of resolution have left me extremely dissatisfied with the overall customer experience.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend Mercedes-Benz Lakeside.

Simply terrible

Simply terrible. After owning an A Class for 8 years, it needed major repairs and I took it to a local dealership. They took over 8 months to try and sort it which cost me over £5k. During that time, communication was extremely poor and you won't get an answer unless you chased up. I paid £750 for Slater Heelis to help me get a peep out of Mercedes, and only after a threat of legal action, did I get a response and a semi resolution, after 8 months. The manager stepped in and to be fair, this manager was more proactive, but I sensed that the company prevents this manager from giving customers good service unless the customer jumps up and down and shouts loud enough. The car is not fixed and they wanted a further £3k, by which time I decided to boycott Mercedes. Mercedes is no longer well built since last two decades, I learnt from a Ryanair pilot friend who is a great car enthusiast. Mercedes' legacy prestige is no longer matched by realiability nor good enough customer service. Now I am happily switched over to Lexus, which offers 10 years warranty and the vehicle is so much more luxurious and dependable than Mercedes. If you compared customer service of Lexus Vs Mercedes, it's 100% vs 1%. Seriously!

Avoid Mercedes Colindale

A review for Mercedes Colindale
Please do not contemplate buying a car from this dealership unless you arrive with the correct credentials, the approved hairstyle, and perhaps a handwritten letter from royalty. I have never visited a dealership so creatively committed to notselling a car.
The salesperson deserves recognition for performing the impossible: making a willing buyer feel like they’d accidentally wandered into a private members’ club instead of a garage. Every interaction felt like an audition I didn’t realise I’d signed up for.
I went in fully prepared to spend money on a car. They, however, appeared fully prepared to ensure that never happened. The entire experience was such a spectacular piece of farcical nonsense that I half expected hidden cameras and a game show host to appear from behind the tyres.
To say customer service was poor would be unfair to other poor customer service experiences. The earth would need to freeze solid before I’d consider parting with money at this dealership.

Spoke to Parts Department at Mercedes…

Spoke to Parts Department at Mercedes Benz of Stockport on the 15th of May to enquire about a door glass for a Maybach 62 and was told that the parts are available and it would take 3-5 days to order. I called back on the 19th of May to enquire again, was told the same story, then called back again on the same day to place the order and paid in full. After 6 days I called them as I did not get any feedback from them, and I was told that the order had been cancelled, yet they never bothered to notify me. I was told that there are 2 in stock but they cannot give us that stock as apparently there is something wrong with it. However, I was then told that I can order the exact same glass for the exact same car at 3 times the price, if I want the ''correct'' glass.

I aske to speak to the manager, Chris, who although polite in his response was extremely unhelpful and simply blamed Mercedes UK and said that Mercedes UK does not notify them when orders have been cancelled due to stock issues and if they do not do a manual follow up, or if a client such as myself does not call in and ask, they will never know if orders are cancelled or not, when asked if they had a 'follow up system' in place I was simply told no.

He asked me what I wanted the solution to be, and I told him I would prefer they give me the glass I ordered at the price I paid, but I was simply told 'no' 'it is not there fault', and if I want the exact same glass I would need to pay 3x the price. He also hung up on me whilst I was still talking.

Highly unimpressed by service and general attitude.
