I purchased two Good Year tyres from the Merityre branch in Bookham today. Down the years I’ve bought both tyres and a battery from this branch. In that time I’ve always been delighted by the price and service I have received. I always telephone around before buying to check what prices are available. I am a regular Costco customer and a big fan of Costco however not for the first time I couldn’t get their tyre bays to answer their phone and not just at one branch but two! The difference between these two company’s is when I didn’t get through to Merityre this morning, a few minutes later Tom phoned me saying they were sorry they couldn’t answer my call could they help me. How nice it is to get such good service, it’s quite rare these days. Keep up the good work, I will see you when I need tyres or a battery again.

After being badly let down by a tyre company in Didcot, I made a call to Merit, Abingdon.
The polite voice on the phone said “Bring your car in straight away…”
I did so and was greeted by the professional and friendly team member who filled out a job sheet.
I had a small slow leak on the front near side tyre, and they advised me that it might be 90 mins or so. I went off for a quick coffee in town.
Just under an hour later my phone rang, and they told me to pop back and collect my car.
Perfect service, friendly, helpful staff members, 100% customer focused and highly recommended.
Merit, Abingdon will now be my go to tyre depot.
Sincere thanks!

Had an enforced stop at Merityre in Thame enroute to the Midlands on 20th May from the south coast with a slow puncture. They sorted to problem and repaired the puncture with the minimum of fuss. We were on our way again within 40 mins. Excellent service, very friendly and helpful staff - they even let us eat our packed lunch in the waiting room!

Great service again. Had the misfortune to need a new tyre twice but they even managed to repair one. If you are near Basingstoke definitely use these guys.

My car had started making awful roaring sounds. I booked it in the Sunbury branch to figure out the problem- I knew it was the exhaust but unsure what part.
The guy told me it was my catalytic converter and it had a hole, but unfortunately they don’t fix it because they don’t have the facilities. I asked if any of their branches fix them. I was told no.
A week later, my car is suddenly shuddering when idle or in traffic, at lights etc and cutting out while I’m driving. I called the Chertsey branch and explained it all to them, who got me booked in the next day.
I drop it off and within half an hour they’ve called me and explained yes it’s my Catalytic converter, and it would cost £347 to get fixed, but was promised it would be done that day. I said go for it. They had the car the whole day and then at 15:45 called me saying the part hadn’t arrived and it wouldn’t be fixed till the following day. I got frustrated with the guy on the phone as I was promised it would be done that day and I needed my car. He said there was nothing he could do.
I asked would they pay for my taxi fares that I’d now have to pay out. They said no. I asked due to the inconvenience would they knock a bit off the price. They said no. I was told it’s basically tough.
We ended the call and then 5 minutes later, I get a call back and magically the part had just arrived and they could get the car fixed for me today. Well done then I guess.
I picked the car up, and was given my receipt and the work that had been done. They’d see my exhaust cover was loose but hadn’t told me, not fixed it or offered to and just noted it on the paper and left it at that.
Upon driving my car home, turns out the shaking and cutting out was still happening. I called them and asked why. He said ‘oh dunno. We assumed it was the Catalytic converter. Bring it back tomorrow and we can check it over.’
This should have been done when I dropped it off and they repaired it! They should have checked ALL issued I raised were seen to and advised/fixed as necessary.
I will be raising an official complaint and taking it further should I need to.
My wife went to the Purley branch as the front wheel on her Audi needed re-balancing, they told her she needed the tracking and full geometry set up and that it would cost £125+vat. We explained that it was only a wheel balancing issue which was noticeable on the motorway, they then told her they couldn't re/balance the front wheel and that she needed two new tyres, the front has 3-4mm tread remaining and the rear has 4-5mm of tread remaining!! They were clearly trying to take advantage of a lady customer and charge for work and items that were not required. We took the car to another garage who rebalanced the front wheel as required. Very unprofessional and extremely unethical business practice, have to question how many other unsuspecting customers are they ripping off??!

Went to the Hook branch with a puncture . Had a temporary fix done a day before, so I decided to go to Hook , because I live close by. I dropped my car off early morning. Around 12pm had a call, that my car is ready. Went to pick it up, they said it’s all done! After I drove home I checked the tire and noticed Iam still loosing pressure. Went back straight away. Half way I had a call from them , they are apologising but my car was not done , they messed up. Lucky for me , I live 5min away , if it was a longer drive , could have end up a lot worse, even have an accident. When I got back told me they will do it straight away. So I was waiting there around half hour. It’s all done they said . At the end of the day I found out my tire was flat again. The next day I called I different company, they fixed it in 20 min without problem. It turned out they haven’t even touched my tire, still had the temporary fix in it . Well done guys!!!

Bad experience at the Little Chalfont branch. Having paid £20 for a headlight bulb replacement and advised it was fully working it was discovered later that it wasn’t. On returning was advised it was a wiring issue and it needed a full replacement at a cost of £325. The car was then taken to a car repair garage that had recently completed the MOT when everything was in order and seeking a second opinion. On checking they confirmed the wiring was 100% ok and the fault was the alleged replacement bulb was broken. It seems a broken bulb was used so certainly not checked as working, if indeed it had even been replaced. This certainly smacks of trying to up the anti on a small job to an unsuspecting customer. The area Director was initially even reluctant to reimburse any out of pocket expenses incurred over and above the refund for the ineffective job undertaken. He did finally agree to cover the replacement elsewhere. That offer should have been the starting point as a gesture of good will and service. Far from happy and that’s two family cars not using Metityre again. I can’t put this down to an honest error.
Sunbury Branch allowed me to drive off without putting all the bolts back on my tyre, only one was left in. Only found out after 2 weeks at my MOT, I'm lucky I didn't have a serious accident.
I'm furious with them. I will never go back there again, can't trust them.

Took car in to have lower arms to wheels replaced. A week later brake fluid warning came up. Topped this up and same thing happened. Took it to a mechanic who said the brake fluid pipe had been damaged and every time I braked the fluid was coming out. No one else had touched my car. Called manager at Wallington branch and told him what had happened. No one has come back to me and this could have put me in a dangerous situation.
I also took my car there early December for a slow puncture. Was told I needed a new tyre but the locking wheel nut was broke (they were the last ones to use it). Had to get the bolt welded off at extra cost at another garage. Went back and was told I needed another front tyre so back I went to get the 2nd bolt welded off & ordered a new locking nut to change the back 2 for normal bolts. I was told the locking wheel nut could have eroded in the cold weather. Have just read a previous review where this happened to a gentleman at another branch. I was told at the time there was no way they could have broken it but now not so sure.
Will never take my car there ever again!

Amazing service at the Chertsey branch. I called up and i got a same day appt, was so easy and Steve was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Will be using these guys going forward!
I have used Merit Tyres for years now and always found them to be honest and very competent. This was confirmed today, when I needed a tyre checked out - having received a little damage. The tyre was assessed and the good news given that no new tyre required. Another example of their honest advice
I am there now. Been waiting 2 and a half hours in Southfields. They are standing around talking
The whole place is a shambles
It used to be well run
I will never return to this branch

Excellent, fast, polite, reassuring service today, sincere thanks.
I called in on the off chance having something stuck in my tyre and was back on the road in 10 minutes at no charge.

I arrived on time for my appointment at Hook to fit 2 front tyres , was told they were running late said I would wait . After waiting for a while a gentleman appeared and said that they had broken my locking nut whilst removing the second tyre . I was given the broken locking nut and told a man down the road could remove the part of the nut wedged inside . I was told they could do the other tyre when “I”had removed the broken nut. I paid for the 1 tyre and left feeling upset only to find I had driven home with 3 nuts in my tyre. The next day still feeling upset and only 3 nuts in my tyre I had to drive to find the man “down the road “ to sort out locking nut and remove the broken nut on my wheel. Once I had done this I returned to merityre and waited for them to fit my second tyre , once done I was given the bill after explaining all the issues I had had with broken nuts etc I was given a £15 discount . On arriving home I found I only had 3 nuts in both front tyres and 1 of the dust caps was missing . I had to order new nuts for my front tyres, I could not afford locking nuts as I’m 70 years old and live on my pension. I still feel upset about the whole experience and service I received.
Bookham branch... worse customer service ever. Booked tyre on line, chose AM slot, when I arrived at 9am was told it would be a few hours as they had a walk in for 4 types in front of me. So what is the point of booking a slot in advance then? Guy was abrupt with me a single woman, I had to wait at the location until they were ready as I don't live locally, shocking service... Will never go there again and will make sure I leave this review on as many sites as possible

The good part
Chose and booked tyres on the Merityre website. Simple process and chose AM slot for fitting
The bad part
Turned up at 9am on morning of fitting at Wantage. Was told it would be 4-6 hours.
I explained that I’d booked an AM fitting and was told “you just join the list, as we’ve had lots of walk ins this morning and they were here before you”
But you knew I was coming I said, as I’ve booked and paid already, doesn’t matter was the reply
I then suggested that I come back at the end of the day and was told it probably would not get done, as there would be more walk ins before me
I tried to explain that they knew I was coming and had already paid, so surely I must get some sort of priority over walk ins - no was the reply, first come first served
In the end I cancelled the order and went elsewhere
Speaking to customer service to cancel the order, it was obvious this was not something new to them, they were very apologetic and realised they have a problem
The worst thing was the attitude of staff at the centre, really didn’t care and couldn’t even see there was an issue
Update
Got an email reply from their director Dene
They will look into this “good to have issue”
So basically they take your money online, agree to a am or pm appointment, then class it as good to have. No accountability to their commitment at all
It’s obvious the problems start at the top of this company with an attitude like that
