We traveled to 39/69 stations and we really enjoyed it. Friendly and helpful staff, mostly clean. We would be happy to use their services again.

I just got the train from south parkway to Southport at 0809am south parkway and I just wanted to clear my head as am going through a bad time at work and spoken to the guard very nice and polite and had time to listen this means a lot to me thank out

Every time I have to use the train on the Southport/Hunts Cross line they are always late.If you can't get the service right Merseyrail don't run the service you are a disgrace
DO NOT USE!!
I would strongly advise to avoid using mersyrail. The majority of the time the trains are late or cancelled, if there has been rain even light rain don’t rely on these trains being in service. Lifts at busy stations like Liverpool lime street are 90% of the time out of service. I would recommend using the bus or even getting a Uber.
Mersey rail Taking the Pee
Caught return train home last evening from Sandhills after the Liverpool game… toilet had apparently been closed for months and station rep didn’t give a stuff… took train ride to Southport station thinking, I know what, I’ll answer the call of nature at last, but guess what, toilet at the main Southport station was closed with the shutters down…MERSEYRAIL TAKING THE PEE ON THEIR CUSTOMERS
Awful company
Awful company, clearly a quick cashgrab for them. Got fined £54 today because I would’ve missed the train if I bought a ticket before getting on. When questioned, I offered to pay the fare there and then which was met with a harsh “no” as if the attendant was enjoying it. Took a photo of my ID like I was some sort of criminal. I now have to panic to find that money within 3 weeks or it’ll be doubled and I could go to court. OVER A £3 TICKET FFS!!! I have literally never had any incident like this prior, yet they are stealing my money off me! The £20 fine was better and easier to pay for poorer people but £54 is taking the mick. Do not use this service, take the bus instead. The train attendants get kicks from giving ridiculous fines for you making a simple, understandable mistake.
Made the mistake of getting off 1 stop…
Made the mistake of getting off 1 stop later than normal as my wife was on the train so stayed on to get a lift home, merseyrails enforcement army where there. I was honest and explained my situation and was hit with a £50 fine and the cost of a ticket for the extra stop so £52.20 actually would’ve worked out cheaper to just not have bought a ticket rather than an oversight. Scandalous it’s a £50 fine regardless of situation or mitigating circumstances. But merseyrail just want to keep the money rolling in, terrible service
Merseyrail Manipulation
Merseyrail Manipulation: you walk up and down the train and see signs about high levels of customer satisfaction and service performance, but it's all lies, the number of times the electronic board at Liverpool South Parkway displays train has arrived when it's still a good 2 minutes away, the train arrives when it stops on the platform not when it's half way between South Parkway and Hunts Cross.
Constantly late or cancelled trains and often without any announcements they slyly just make the train disappear, Merseyrail are shocking when it comes to performance.
Awful company
Awful company, rude and ignorant staff- I had the misfortune of dealing with a girl called Jess today after my daughter was given a very large fine for travelling after buying a ticket on trainline (apparently the small print on Merseyside rail’s website states you should print out tickets from 3rd party apps) they even told her to take the fine as a 18th birthday present!
I am going to take this further an absolute money making scheme trying to trip people up, disgusting.
Be careful when buying tickets
Be careful when buying tickets off Merseyrail. Despite claiming to sell “The cheapest tickets for travel anywhere in the UK” Unless you specify the precise ticket you want, they will by default sell you the most expensive ticket available. This has happened to me twice now, so I suspect it’s a policy.
Great Train Service
I use Merseyrail trains on a very regular basis, I travelled from Chester to Hamilton Square on Tuesday. The train was on time, clean and because Merseyrail provide a very regular service, not over crowded. I find overall that Merseyrail provide an excellent service. The new trains are very nice to travel on, clean, comfortable and I feel saver with the way the you can walk right through the train.
Horrible company
Horrible company, total scam. I was not able to print my ticket before was rushing. There is an option in any station to print before you get through the barrier, this is the case with most stations. On top of that I was told to wait for a letter which then increased the fine. I said I could pay then and there and he said "wait for a letter". This was false and the receipt gave the guidance to pay. Awful and intimidating
Pay a fare and get a fine with Merseyrail
I paid for a fare from Waterloo to Wales via Moorfields. I got a notification on my phone number that there is no option to print a ticket but to print at another station. Nowhere did it say to print your ticket before boarding the train. I Assumed this would be possible at Moorfields. Instead I was issued with a fine for £104 at Moorfields despite providing proof on my phone that I had paid (pay a fare not a fine as Merseyrail themselves advertise). I understand fining fare evaders but fining people who can prove they have paid for a fare is nothing more than a money making exercise - plain and simple.
Merseyrail poor service
Purchased in good faith a ticket from Trainline -?Wallasey village to Manchester an hour before the journey . There is no ticket machine to collect tickets so as the journey was in the next hour planned to collect them at lime street . Trainline let me make this booking with no pop up alerts ‼️ to say I need the physical tickets , got stopped at lime st by Merseyrail person who had no customer service skills and issued a £104 fine , although I could show him my ticket on my phone . I am a law abiding single parent ,can’t afford the fine & being treated in such a degrading manner was horrible. Meanwhile continue to pay for journeys in filthy old trains on the Merseyrail Wirral line. So dirty inside & out it is difficult to see out of the windows on some of them

Scammer inspector 009 fined me £125 for missing a railcard I bought tickets with train line and I thought rail card option on train line meant I had automatically purchased a rail card and I was willing to buy a rail card as it was an honest mistake but got a £125 as a 19 year old university student poor behaviour robbing everyone should find alternatives to merseyrail

Second time in a week no trains on the Wirral line over a bank holiday aswell £10 for 2 single tickets to Bromborough expensive bus fare that prices go up every year and service gets worse and worse and the staff are unhelpful and really don’t have a clue what’s going on
Awful security
Mate, they seriously need to do away with the security (Carlisle Security) who they sub contract at central station to do something akin to indiscriminately refuse entry to people and cause absolute dyscobobulation. They actually cause more trouble, than de-escalate and issues. They was just on a power trip.
They was community bobby's there at the time and even they felt sorry for me.....

Sham of a company tells lies that the ticket machine is working at overpool when it was not you your ticket took me away from my young child I have 30 pound to pay and I was told no the ticket machine is working and it was not so got a fine of 150 pound and then your company took me to court and now the fine is 400 pound want the email for head office as this is so wrong we are not listened to you just want money out of us you should be a shamed of your self never will I set foot on a train again
Awful service at the Moorfields…
Awful service at the Moorfields station.
I got fined £100 for wanting to buy a ticket at the station of destination, as at my station was no one to sell me the ticket at the time I have arrived. I needed to get to work, so obviously got on the train with the thought I can get a ticket at the Moorfields, as it was never a problem before. But the person, who work at Moorfields decided, I was a criminal of some sort.
The worst customer service ever
The worst customer service ever. Those so called bylaw officers are not nice and accuse ppl recording them when using their phone and being dramatic saying a lady grabbing their ids being rude , two strong men tired to intimidate a woman and refused to find out what exactly happen and just on saying “ we don’t need to talk to ticket office staff you have invalid ticket which have receipts showing only bought in the morning and the ticket office staff is willing to prove the ticket was valid they just keeps on repeating one sentences like robot , refused listen to any explanation and said I don’t speak to you before police arrived ,shocking and can’t believe this happened in UK . They forced ppl to give them ID so they can give the fine ,when the train was delayed , cancelled cause inconvenience to customers it is normal and ok for them. They just try to issue any much fines as possible to heat the targets . If they put barrier at each station that would’ve stop ppl getting on the trains without tickets why punishing customers to pay for their problems .
