It’s a scam

I invested with Metfolio and was told selling would be at spot price with no storage charges. However, the selling price (scrap gold) was consistently far below the spot market price. There were hidden charges on selling, and the higher the gold price went, the higher these charges became.

For example, when gold was £94/gram, I received £88/gram after their hidden charges. When gold rose to £110, the selling price was £104, and when it reached £116, they reduced the selling price to £97 😁. Even when I tried to recover losses from the premium they charged (~£15/gram), the hidden charges were increased. This made making a profit almost impossible.

I eventually received a refund, but only after raising formal complaints and taking legal help. The process caused significant loss of time, effort, and opportunity. Very poor transparency.

When buying physical gold, it has to be manufactured and mined out of the ground, this process costs money, if this is not okay for you, then I would recommend you do more research and buy gold paper stocks which give you exposure to gold instead of ownership.

Therefore when buying physical gold it will be at a premium and is meant to be held as a long term investment. And on the amounts you are buying we are the most competitive in the market.

On our app we clearly say you are buying gold fractionally, in order to build up to a full gold bar, this means that Metfolio is a cost effective way to get to a gold bar. I repeat Metfolio is NOT a way for you to speculate on the gold market within a 3 month period and buy and sell that soon, as you did.

Moreover, with the rising gold prices, when we sell gold that we buy back from you into the market, those bars are bought from us at the scrap value too, as refining, and processing costs have all gone up astronomically.

So before calling us a scam, you should ensure that you do your research and choose a service that aligns with your goals, as physical requires a much more long term mindset than you have.

had you read the information in app, this explains this fully, and we tell you when buying how many grams you get in exchange for your money.

Not bought and sold the next day, as had you read the information before buying you'd have known this instead of impulse buying and now showing buyers remorse.

On our app we clearly say you are buying gold fractionally, in order to build up to a full gold bar. Which if you buy from anywhere, comes at a premium and WILL be scrapped at a lower price if you choose to immediately sell it.

Do not buy gold through Metfolio

Do not buy gold through Metfolio! It’s a total scam.
I have spent £750 on gold. Since I bought the price of gold has doubled but my actual gold is only worth £724!!!! You cannot cancel your subscription so I have had to block through my bank and my scrap value is £580!! Absolute scam and I urge you not to buy through this company!!!

Hey Clare,

When buying physical gold, it has to be manufactured and mined out of the ground, this process costs money. And you are forgetting that you bought incrementally over time, which means you bought v small amounts at a time, so in what world would you get spot price on that.

Basic economics Clare, no one gets access to spot rate on physical gold from ANYONE, as otherwise no business would bother selling it in the first place, if they don't earn a premium on it.

Therefore when buying physical gold it will be at a premium and is meant to be held as a long term investment. And on the amounts you are buying we are the most competitive in the market.

On our app we clearly say you are buying gold fractionally, in order to build up to a full gold bar, and you are able to cancel your subscription v easily from the settings section. But it is clear you have not read the information properly inside the app from your review anyhow.
