MetLife multi protect

MetLife multi protect

I bought this insurance policy believing it would cover my family and relatives, as the agent had assured me. He convinced me to purchase it based on that assumption. However, when I needed to use the insurance, the registered hospital or clinic refused to accept it. Despite reaching out to their customer service, I couldn’t find a satisfactory solution. Regretfully, I now realize the mistake I made in purchasing this insurance.

Claim Adjusters Don't Care

I was diagnosed with kidney cancer and filed a Critical Illness claim on September 20, 2024. We are now over halfway through December and the company still is playing games. Twice I have been told they have the medical records and still receive a request via snail mail, even though the preferences state contact via phone or email, for medical records. The hospital and the company Metlife uses to obtain the medical records state they have been uploaded to Metlife and still we wait......

I hold Power of Attorney for a MetLife…

I hold Power of Attorney for a MetLife insurance beneficiary who is 96 years old. Since early October 2024 I have been trying to get this company to pay her legitimate claim but keep getting a run-around and transferred from one department to another with no result. This is the worst customer service experience that I have ever had!

Never dealt with a company as inept as MetLife

My partner passed away on October 21, 2024. Before his death, he showed me documentation listing me as the sole beneficiary of his life insurance policy with Metropolitan Life (MetLife). A couple of days after his passing, his employer notified MetLife.

Two weeks later, I received paperwork from MetLife, but it requested information about his siblings instead of mine. When I called MetLife, I was told twice that he hadn’t designated a beneficiary, and therefore the proceeds were to be distributed to his siblings. This conflicted with what his employer had confirmed to me: that I was indeed the designated beneficiary.

After another two weeks of back and forth, MetLife finally "expedited" the correct paperwork to me. I completed it immediately and sent it to their Scranton, PA office.

Now, it’s December 6, and I’m still waiting. When I called MetLife again, they said my claim had been approved, and a check was mailed three days ago. They claimed it would take 7–10 days to arrive via USPS, despite me living just four hours from Scranton (a two-day delivery point for USPS).

Dealing with MetLife has been incredibly frustrating. Finding the right phone number to reach them is a challenge, and if you manage to get past their automated system, speaking with someone who is clear and knowledgeable and understands English is a rarity. It’s appalling to have to fight for what’s rightfully yours while mourning the loss of a loved one. Good luck to anyone else trying to navigate this BS while mourning the loss of a loved one. If I could have given them a negative star rating I would have.

Most horrible experience ever!!

Most horrible experience ever!!! Automated system is ridiculous! Had to give information 3x only to be hung up on and do it all over Again!! Called a week ago with bad results. Used to be able to call, get help and resolve within a week. NOW you have to jump through hoops, fill out RIDICULOUSLY LOOONNNNG FORMS that won't print and they give you no email or address conveniently to return it!! This is BULLSHIT. They are lucky that I've been with them so long or I'd cancel my policy TODAY!! ANGRY AND FRUSTRATED doesn't even remotely cover it!

I’m sick to my stomach with MetLife

I’m sick to my stomach with MetLife, in July I almost died, originally my claim was denied it took two months for approval. After I’m on extended leave until January my doctors office notes state everything but “dead” on it and just last week it was sufficient, now they literally need my kidneys to approve this next batch. I’m out of work until January 2025 and I really really wish I can go back to work like yesterday, but I can’t stand, walk, bend, nothing for more than five minutes at a time. Seriously I cannot cook right now thank god for daughters I’m in my 30’s and defeat is running through the course of my body. I just can’t anymore, maybe if I send my death certificate I can get the ball rolling. I’m closing my accounts and going back to Aflac I’m so upset I left them, like devastated for something to happen to me a month later. My union representative came in and sold us this MetLife idea as if it was the next best thing, truly it wasn’t. BUYER beware.

This company has the worst customers support I have ever encountered. They haven’t been able to workout the kinks to give me access to view my able benefits for my particular policy all year. They hang up on me when their shift ends they hang up when you have been waiting in queue for long periods. Just today I have called and waited in queue 5x and every time I hear a rep connect the call they immediately disconnect the call.

I have MetLife Critical Illness…

I have MetLife Critical Illness insurance through my company. Recently I was diagnosed with congestive heart failure and was told by my company to file this claim. Payout 30,000.00. I file the intake on 11/9 claim was completed 11/15, I was informed today but, the weirdest thing, I go to the app and it states the claim was denied on 11/11. Then after 90 minutes of talking I get the representative and admit that Although the policy doesn't cover congestive heart failure, it does cover major organs. I thought the heart was the most important organ. Still denied. Will write appeal in yhe morning

Worst Insurance Co

My first policy was taken when I was born, 73 years ago. It was with New England Financial, then it was merged with Mass Mutual, then MetLife. Over time, I have purchased 8 policies including 2 for my wife. When Brighthouse entered the picture things went into a steep decline. I tried to create a portal but Brighthouse said I did not exist. My agent was no help and constantly dropped the ball. I received a premium notice in the mail dated 10/21/24 on 11/18/24. I called MetLife to once again to try and set up an online portal and pay this premium that was due on Nov 17. After 2 hours and talking to 4 different agents, the portal was set up. My payment was made over the phone but has not cleared my bank. Now they say it takes up to 48 hours to clear but my payment is in their system. Avoid this company as they are inefficient and you will be disappointed in their service. They were great the first 72 years but now they are just there to take your money.

Greedy bloodsuckers

While MetLife has decent or even good coverage, their business practices are evil. They kept denying my dental claim because the dentist submitted me as "Tom" instead of "Thomas". This has taken over 17 months to finally figure out. Who does that other than some greedy blood-sucking a$$h@ts who do not want to pay what they owe. Truly disgusted with them.

Customer service is the worst

Customer service is the worst. They don't know what they're doing. They kept transferring my call from one department to another and after an hour, I had to drop the call without getting any help from a single Agent. Total waste of time. Website not helpful either. They don't even deserve a one star.

I had an accident and I can't move my right hand from the wrist, I made the claim after it took 2 months for them to check the case I called them every week they just don't care about you when it came to my but they said that too much time has passed, a maximum of 12 months must pass, I had surgeries for 3 years. I talked to a lawyer to sue them because it seems to me that they are stealing from you. when there are large sums of money, he doesn't give you anything. I advise you to look for another company.

Can't even pay a simple filing

Wife has a simple filling in June. I have spent 5 months trying to get them to pay their portion of the bill. Customer service line is awful. 12 denial statements, 12 phone calls. Calls to my dentist business office. They promise to fix it but they don't. I chose them because they were cheap. Switching next year and cancelling al the other medigap insurance I had with them. Worst customer service ever. Better to just not have insurance.

Will not give me an answer & ghosted me

Trying to use the accidental policy & completely disgusted by their lack of paying & communication. My son broke the exact bone in his pelvis that is listed as a $2000 pay out.. They instantly within a week sent me a check for $500 and now 6 months later still wont give me a explanation why they are not paying the full amount.. I've call 3 different times and every time the customer service rep is blown away that I was not paid the full amount. They tell me I will get a letter by mail with the answer, they wont tell me on the phone nor will they send me an email.. Such a joke, they are clearly dragging this out hoping I'll forget.. This is the worst accidental policy I have ever dealt with.. This lack of being paid what the policy clearly states should be illegal.. Met Life is a joke 😤..
