Written by the company

Our friendly, highly-trained and caring veterinary team has a wealth of experience and we treat dogs, cat, rabbits, small pets and poultry. Our main practice in Braintree is supported by our community branch in the village of Coggeshall. At Braintree, we have spacious on-site parking, we consult throughout the day with appointments as early as 8am until 8pm and consult from 8am - 6pm on Saturdays. Outside of our opening hours all calls to our practice number are automatically diverted to the out of hours veterinary service, Vets Now, based in Witham. We never move our patients to another site or practice for overnight care. Our surgery is well equipped with a wide range of medical diagnostic tools, including CT scanner. We can treat almost any condition, including life-threatening ones, within the practice. This means quicker diagnosis, treatment and recovery times for your pet, as well as greater convenience for you. Our greatest asset, though, is our staff. It is the individual skill, care and attention we give to each patient that’s at the heart of successful treatment, and this is what makes us different. Established in 1966, we have been treating your pets as our for more than half a century - we are proud to remain a 100% independent veterinary practice. Our directors are part of our veterinary team and lead over 50 members of staff. For more information, advice or to make an appointment, please visit our website or call us on 01376 325511

Fantastic work all round!

Our 4 year old Lab got badly injured on a Saturday morning walk. We took her in at 8am when the practice opened and from the moment we got in we had brilliant service. Both the receptionists were full of concern and care and dealt with us quickly. The veterinary nurse was calm and friendly and dealt with her immediate needs, then the Veterinary surgeon was utterly brilliant (with us and our dog). Our dog had surgery that day, everything was explained clearly and in a straightforward manner but with compassion. The healing process is still ongoing but we've had regular wound checks and advice along the way. Nothing was too much trouble.
I wanted to make a special mention about Michelle the Vet who has made our previously nervous patient, excited to visit the practice! Thank you all.

Ongoing concerns after dental treatment

My cat had a tooth extraction at Millennium Vets in Braintree in June 2026, and unfortunately, her mouth has not been the same since. She has been left with a large bulge on her gum, which interferes with her mouth – it often hangs open, and she frequently licks at it, suggesting ongoing discomfort.

At the first appointment, I raised concerns about her mouth, but the examination focused mainly on her over-grooming, and I was told everything looked fine. During a second visit, her mouth was not re-examined. By the third visit, the swelling had clearly increased, and I was told there was a severe infection and that her fang needed to be extracted.

After the extraction, I was reassured that the bulge would resolve, but it did not. My cat still seemed uncomfortable, and I later noticed a broken lower fang and that several small upper teeth were missing. I raised these concerns, but was told this must have happened at home and that the bulge was simply bone and would remain.

Because my cat remained uncomfortable, I sought a second opinion from another veterinary practice. They have expressed concern about the swelling and suggested it may have enlarged further, possibly due to a remaining root. I am currently waiting for further assessment.

The staff at Millennium Vets have always been friendly and polite, but I feel that my concerns about my cat’s ongoing discomfort have not been fully acknowledged. After nearly a year, my cat is still dealing with this issue, which is very upsetting to see.

I hope Millennium Vets in Braintree will take these concerns seriously and review my cat’s case so the cause of the problem can be properly understood and addressed.

My dog was due to have dental surgery

My dog was due to have dental surgery. But the day before she unfortunately had a seizure. I notified the vet’s so Laura was aware. We still attended the scheduled appointment, but it was decided to just do bloodwork to check that there was nothing underlying.

Jackie was very gentle and caring while treating my very nervous cat. She also gave me some very useful advice as to what may have caused some recent behavioural change and what may alleviate the problem.

Excellent vets

Every vet I have seen has been wonderful, they are all very knowledgeable and care a lot about your pet. Reception staff very friendly and efficient. Costs are very reasonable. Easy to get an appointment. Special mention to Alex for going above and beyond to support me with my ferret Murfy who has complex medical issues, and Lindsey for being so kind and compassionate. You all do a fantastic job.

Uncaring payment demand

Sadly we had to take our beloved old boy to be put to sleep, obviously we was brokenhearted, but that didn’t stop the vet straight away asking for payment. I had rushed my dog as emergency I had no payment method with me.
By the time we got to our car we had a generic payment link via email.
So uncaring.
