This agency sucks

I completed freelance work for MissionConnect in July. My invoices are now over 150 days (5+ months) overdue.
After months of ignored emails, I finally received a reply one month ago acknowledging the debt and blaming "financial difficulties," while promising payment was a "priority" and that they would notify me "immediately" with a payment date. Since that email, there has been total silence—no payment, no date, and no further communication.
The pattern is clear: they ignore initial requests, vaguely acknowledge the problem when pressed, and then disappear again. This is not an oversight; it is an operational practice of non-payment.
I strongly warn any freelancer, contractor, or supplier to avoid this company. Do not work for them. They do not honour their agreements, and recovering money is impossible through normal channels.
They did not pay me for the work I did for them last year. Zero replies to e-mails, their webpage is now down, phone calls not answered.
And today they have had the audacity to ask for my availability for their new project.
I feel scammed.
I worked with this company on a short-term telecom project while based in France. I completed all tasks on time and followed instructions carefully, but they kept delaying my payment of $2,000.
Despite repeated follow-ups, there was no clear timeline or resolution, which caused unnecessary stress and frustration. Their lack of professionalism in handling payments makes them unreliable for freelancers or contractors.
Be cautious before engaging with this company.
This mission connect/translate is a no go zone.
For the whole period that I've worked for them, it's been so painful when it comes to payment. After sometime I paused working for them. Then HR (Chloe) department reached out asking why I've not been taking up their projects. I clearly told her that I'm tired of begging for my payment. She assured me that the accounts department had been streamlined and that I shall get paid on time. Promised to receive my payment after 60days.
Then Jay, a PM approached me with projects, research projects...Spanish projects... that was in May this year. I worked on those projects till June and part of July. I asked the PM to send me a PO for the work done but she insisted that the project was still ongoing... after insisting on a PO, she finally gave me a PO... after all, the project had stalled.
So towards end of July I sent my invoices to the accounts department and they never acknowledged receipt. I sent several emails to accounts department asking them to acknowledge receipt... they took their time and after like 2 weeks they acknowledged receipt.
Then came the payment date end of September... I didn't receive my payment. At that same time my dad was going through dialysis and needed that money to be able to cover the dialysis cost. My son was also scheduled for an operation at the same time. My dad ended up missing 2 dialysis sessions and passed on.
Then Hawazen, the CFO, comes to my email pretending to sympathise with my situation, promising to pay me the next payment schedule...
So, still have not been able to rest my dad because there is a bill to clear at the hospital. My son still waiting for his treatment because I don't have money to a private hospital.
So, how mean can people get...?
I strongly advise freelancers to avoid working with Mission Connect (formerly Mission Translate).
I have collaborated with this agency for years, and not once have they paid an invoice on time. Most recently:
• I submitted an invoice in July 2025.
• On 5 September, their Accounts Payable confirmed it was valid.
• As of today, weeks later, I still haven’t been paid, despite repeated follow-ups.
This is not an isolated case. Mission Translate went into liquidation in 2024 after widespread complaints of non-payment, and Mission Connect appears to be continuing the same behaviour under a new name.
Freelancers deserve professionalism and timely payments. Unfortunately, this agency has shown a consistent pattern of late or missing payments, poor communication, and lack of accountability.
My experience has been absolutely dreadful, and they still owe me €1,400 for fully delivered work. Work done on time, to spec, and in good faith.
Here’s what happened:
I completed the agreed work and submitted everything, exactly as requested.
They acknowledged receipt of invoices, promised payment by certain dates.
As each payment deadline passed, I followed up again. More promises. More new dates.
Then the excuses stopped. Communication dropped off completely.
Emails go unanswered. Dead silence.
I’ve been patient, professional, and persistent.
This isn’t just a delay. It’s a breach of trust, a failure to honor contractual obligations, and dishonest business behaviour. I feel used. I feel ignored. And the company’s actions suggest they believe they can walk away without ever paying what’s owed.
If you are a freelancer, contractor, translator, or anyone thinking about doing business with them:
Be very cautious.
Don’t assume they will pay on time, or at all.
Don’t let them use “bureaucratic delays” or “internal processing” as cover for doing nothing.
I hope I get my money back. I hope they learn to treat people with respect and integrity. But others? Learn from my experience: avoid them!
To all freelancers considering working for this company: avoid like the plague, they do not pay.
I completed many remote simultaneous interpreting (sim trans) assignments for them over the past 3 years (they traded as Mission Translate before). While the work was appealing and the rate of pay decent, their payment practices have been terrible from the start, i.e. they never paid my invoices within the agreed time period and typically around 3 months late following countless emails.
When rebranding from Mission Translate to Mission Connect, they assured me this would change. Well, it changed for the worse. They kept making promises to "schedule a payment" by the end of a particular month, making various excuses and asking for patience, only to delay further and further. Now they owe me nearly £1600, some of it for work done back in March, and have stopped responding to my emails.
I know that end clients have been happy with my services and asking specifically that projects be assigned to me but even that is not sufficient motivation for Mission Connect to pay me.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! They do not pay for your work and just come up with more nonsensical excuses each time. You have to send lots of emails and most of the time get no response, I am taking them to court this time. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! DO NOT WORK FOR THEM!
They have not paid me for a year. I am still waiting.
They absolutely do not pay. They keep giving you extended deadlines and finally they stop responding to your emails. Never in my life have I been so harassed than with these guys. They owe me over GBP 3100 and they simply have stopped responding to my emails now.
This agency owes me $630 for work delivered 7 months ago. I worked with them for several years, and now it seems they are running a scam, withholding payment from freelancers.
They initially sent apologetic messages, saying how much they valued me and my work over the years — often working around the clock to deliver urgent, high-quality transcripts, never receiving a single negative comment from clients, and even being called in to save client relationships when other translators’ work fell short. Now, they simply ignore my messages.
Freelancers and clients, be aware: this is how this agency treats the people they claim to value!
The company deliberately avoids paying freelancers. I’ve been waiting for three months.
I was contracted via UpWork, completed the work on time and to a high standard, but at the last moment they manipulated the milestone so that it would not pay automatically, leaving UpWork unable to release the funds.
The responsible manager, Wineah G., replied to me once, assuring me she would ‘check’ with the accounting team - then nothing. Later, she said she was moving to Asia and handed me over to another person, Berenice L., who repeated the same promise to check with accounting … and then disappeared.
DO NOT TRUST THEM!!!!!!
Avoid this company at all costs.
I completed freelance work for them in 2024 and am still owed €1,980 after they restructured from Mission Translate Ltd (which went into liquidation) to Mission Connect. They stopped responding to my communications two months ago, and I’m now left with a significant loss.
Unfortunately, many freelancers have reported similar issues over the past few years under different company names linked to the same group.
Based on my experience, I would strongly advise others to avoid working with this business. Those involved in its management have a track record of unpaid freelancers and unresponsiveness.
