Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 30 reviews, reviewers overwhelmingly had a great experience with this company. Customers consistently praise the staff for their professionalism, trustworthiness, and helpfulness, noting their care and attention to detail. Many people highlight the exceptional quality of the work and craftsmanship, especially for listed properties, and are very pleased with the final product. The service is frequently described as impeccable from start to finish, with efficient and tidy workmen who minimize disruption. However, some customers experienced issues with condensation between the secondary glazing and the original glass, and a few found that the rebalancing of sashes did not meet the "finger light" promise. There was also an instance where a customer was not informed about a new UV glazing product that would have been beneficial for their south-facing house.

MAD are not BAD (in the slightest)

M & D recommended to us by a friend and entirely lived up to expectations - from initial contact with Devon head office, to Keith (on survey), and Luke, Zach and Jack who did the (quality) business on our windows and doors. Big, noticeable difference, thank you.
Top Team - thank you. All deserve company fortnight holiday in the Caribbean on the boss....

Great insulation and renovation of windows

We are gradually renovating our windows, and so have used Mitchell & Dickenson twice now, funds allowing we will use them again for the final windows next year. Both times the standard of work and professionalism of service from quotation through to installation completion has been great. The draughts are resolved with the rooms completed so much warmer this winter, and indeed some very significant sound insulation from the full window non opening windows.

Secondary Glazing, Bristol

Hired to install secondary glazing on a large bay window at our house in Bristol and really pleased. Luke, Jack and Zack were friendly, thorough and very tidy/considerate of the wider home. Hard working and punctual they also came up with solutions to better insulate our front door. Easy to communicate with. We've felt an immediate difference.

Top quality

Mitchell & Dickinson have fitted secondary glazing and draught proofing to our big draughty and cold Victorian house. We are so pleased with the quality which doesn’t detract from our original stained glass windows at all and we are so much warmer! The entire team of staff are incredibly professional, knowledgeable and friendly and completed the work with a minimum of disruption.

Really impressive!

We found Mitchell and Dickenson online when researching how to make our very old home warmer. John and Ed left last Friday after restoring 10 sash windows and installing cozy glazing.

John and Ed were absolutely incredible and I would call them again in an instant. They were really knowledgeable about their work, very polite, and incredibly skilled. We really appreciated that they were very mindful of working around our baby's schedule with the nursery window being worked on, and were great with the pets too. They both had to commute long distances to get to our house every day but they were always on time.

We really couldn't be more impressed with their work, work ethic, and results :-)

Delighted with the product and installation

We used Mitchell & Dickinson to refurbish, restore and draught proof our windows and install secondary glazing. Joe and Greg did a fantastic job - we were delighted with their exceptional workmanship ... highly skilled craftsmen who were organised and punctual, and the work was carried out in a clean and tidy fashion. Our house is definitely warmer and draught-free now and the secondary glazing is unobtrusive and blends in to the window architecture.

The secondary double glazing is almost invisible

The secondary double glazing is almost invisible. It has cut down noise, condensation and drafts considerably. John and Ed, who fitted the secondary double glazing, were extremely punctual, worked hard, were very quiet, and unfailingly polite and helpful. They explained everything they did, and completed the work in the time they estimated.

Exceeded our expectations!

An amazing product that exceeded our expectations. That good! Our listed home is now soundproofed and as warm as toast—without the need for ugly secondary glazing. Tim and Liam (our fitters) were outstanding. It was a joy to have them in the house. I cannot recommend this company enough!

Excellent

We have been extremely impressed with this company and the results have surpassed our expectations. The team of two who came were highly skilled, professional, polite and very clean and tidy. Cracked window panel were replaced, rot to the frames was identified and made good, ageing putty removed and replaced. We have an old stable door to the back which had 1inch gaps which is now draftproof. Ditto the front door.
We can't thank all concerned enough. Worth every penny.

Extremely Professional Company

We have recently had a range of secondary glazing units installed by Mitchell and Dickinson and can thoroughly recommend the company. Everyone in the company was extremely professional and helpful from our first encounter with Dan, site survey by Keith, all the girls in the office and the installation team of Cameron and Jonah. Cameron and Jonah went above and beyond expectations in the quality of work and how well clean and tidy they left the house each day. We would would not hesitate to recommend Mitchell and Dickinson to other potential customers, many thanks to all concerned.

Mitchell & Dickenson - A most Excellent Company!

Mitchell & Dickenson are not cheap but for us the price was worth paying and we had excellent service throughout. The salesperson was knowledgeable and did not oversell his product, and the installation team were on time, very skilled and exceptionally tidy. The secondary glazing is virtually invisible and has made an immediate difference to the warmth of the house without in any way impacting on its character. There was a small issue with the quote and scope of works, but this was very quickly and amicably resolved.

We certainly recommend this company and its product

Very pleased!

A very pleasing result following the hard work put in by the Mitchell and Dickinson team. The new windows look good, have cut down considerably on condensation and have made the house so much warmer and quieter in a busy part of town. The front door, previously swollen by the rain and hard to open, was the first thing to be remedied and now opens with ease. Additional draft-proofing has also proved its worth. A classy and valuable addition to the house, we are very pleased with the end result. Thank you Mitchell and Dickinson for your professionalism!

A satisfied customer

Very pleased with the skilled craftsmanship of Tim and his trainee. They were considerate and tidy, and it was a pleasure to have them around. The effectiveness of the insulation is impressive, and the windows look good, so we are entirely satisfied customers. Thanks also to the back office, who made preparation and planning for the work much easier. - Not cheap, but an investment worth making.

Should have done it sooner!

A month ago we had a range of windows in our listed property refurbished. Harry and Nico spent 10 days with us, and could not have made the experience easier. They set up their pop up workshop in the backyard - a very impressive set-up - worked on our windows during the day, and put everything back in place each evening. I admit I was a bit sceptical as to how they would make double glazing look both aesthetically pleasing and actually improve heat retention with our sash windows. Since then we have been experiencing a really cold snap and what a change! We have a log burner, and now our living room is so cosy that we frequently leave the door open. We close it when we go to bed, and in the morning the heat retention is noticeable. An absolute bonus with the draught excluding system is the reduction in any outside noise, as we are on a busy road. Thank you Harry and Nico for your professional work, and for making the whole experience such an enjoyable one.

Making our beautiful, but cold, Georgian house warm!

Living in a Grade ll Georgian house with huge windows and high ceilings is a joy in Summer but a bit of an endurance in winter. We didn’t think we would find any solution until we found Mitchell & Dickinson. They are very popular it seems, so it was some months before we got an installation date but we are so glad we have done it. They put fixed panels on the front of the house (on the road and North facing so rarely opened) and integrated secondary glazing on the back. We have curved sashes and the team ended up finding quite a lot of rot we didn’t know was there. Nothing was too much trouble and no corner was cut. It is so reassuring to know the windows are now all in good repair. Tony, Chris, Matt and their team turned up early every day for over 5 weeks - they are professional craftsmen who undertake the work meticulously and discreetly as they can. They put plenty of protection over carpets and work areas and were unflaggingly enthusiastic and uncomplaining despite the 6 flights of stairs they were constantly running up and down! We have just had the work completed so time will tell but already we notice the rooms heat up quicker and the heat stays for longer. The road noise on the front is definitely reduced too. As for the secondary glazing itself, it is so very neatly applied and is barely noticeable - if anything, the big panels on the front frame the windows to make them look even more beautiful. It really is the perfect solution for a listed building and they are careful to use the correct materials in renovation - oak, lime mortar, breathable paint etc. Everything is to a very high standard, done by knowledgeable and skilled craftsmen. We are delighted with the results.

Cosyglazing has made a huge difference…

Cosyglazing has made a huge difference to how comfortable our house feels. We were looking for secondary glazing and were impressed with how unobtrusive this solution is. What we also got because we chose Mitchell & Dickinson was a full repair of our rotten frames and sills and draught-proofing of the windows. It was a four week project (which sounded a bit daunting tbh) and it was a pleasure to have Will, Phil and Tom in the house. We now have much better heat retention and the draught we used to feel in the evenings seems to have vanished.
