True Masterpiece of Viking Craftsmanship

I couldn’t be happier with my Mask of Odin Viking Axe. The moment I unboxed it, I was blown away by the attention to detail. The carving of Odin’s mask and sword is absolutely stunning, and the Viking shield at the base adds a powerful touch of authenticity. You can instantly feel the strength and history behind this piece, it’s more than just an axe, it’s a symbol of warrior spirit.

The craftsmanship is flawless. The ash wood handle feels solid and perfectly balanced, and the weight gives it an impressive presence without being unwieldy. It’s clear this was made by true artisans who respect Viking tradition.

Modern Viking is honestly such a breath of fresh air. You can tell straight away it’s a small, family-run business and not some big corporate machine. When you message them, it actually feels like you’re talking to real people who care — not just another ticket number.

The items themselves are amazing. You can see and feel the quality as soon as you open the box. Everything has that handcrafted touch that makes it special, not mass-produced.

Their support is also spot-on. They’re quick to reply, super friendly, and go out of their way to help. It feels personal, and that makes such a difference these days.

If you want something unique, well-made, and backed by people who truly stand behind their work — I can’t recommend Modern Viking enough.

Great products and great service!

I just wanted to share how happy my partner is with his amazing gifts! He absolutely loves them, and knowing they were handcrafted makes them even more special.

After I had emailed to enquire about the length of time the delivery would take, I was very generously looked after, which included being upgraded to an even larger wooden shield than I had originally purchased!

The shield and the free gifts have arrived just in time for my partner to enjoy before he heads off for the Navy.

Such beautiful work and wonderful service ☺️ I absolutely recommend Modern Viking!

Modern Viking is the worst.

Modern Viking is the absolute worst. I bought something off their website on the 14th of May for my husband's birthday June 6th. I got an immediate thanks for the order and on the 15th i was told it had been shipped. During this time I watched their web page and saw a pewter mug I had ordered was Out of Stock. 2 weeks rolled by but I couldn't see any updates on tracking so I decided to message them. They didn't immediately get back to me but meh I have a business so I get it. After their response I got back them and they went radio silent. My husband then responded on my emails on my behalf after 5 days and then after another week I messaged asking if they had any updates and they responded that they refunded me and that it was Aus Post fault. No apology just a "If you want to buy again write in the notes what happened:. I bought something from Australia 2 days ago and i got confirmation today it'll be here tomorrow. NEVER BUY FROM THIS SITE

Modern Viking is a handcrafted store, not a mass-production retailer. Many of our pieces are pre-order items, with expected completion dates and the possibility of delays clearly stated at checkout. This is because each item is made with time, skill, and care — we will never rush something out at the cost of quality.

In your case, the order was marked shipped and then delayed due to Australia Post tracking issues outside of our control. Once it became clear it wouldn’t arrive in time, a full refund was processed immediately. We also apologised on behalf of the carrier, as we understand the disappointment around a missed gift date.

While we respect that you run a business, every business is different. Unlike standard retail, we operate in the rare space of artisanal craftsmanship, where patience is part of the value. Delivering you an inferior item simply to meet a deadline would go against everything our brand stands for.

We understand negative reviews impact small Australian businesses, but we ask that customers also consider the context: delays happen, even with the best systems, and we did our best to resolve the matter fairly.

Claim other’s work as their own and block people who tell the truth!!

Modern Viking put a post up on Facebook showing one of their axes for sale. Someone commented saying you could get the same axe elsewhere for much cheaper. Someone from the modern Viking crew took it upon themselves to be extremely rude and condescending stating that the axe bought elsewhere would be inferior to their own. I commented saying that actually, it was the exact same axe. I had bought the axe from Etsy for my husband and it is identical for a fraction of the price! Right down to the very string used to wrap around the wooden handle, and to the studs placed in the side, and the engraving design on the blade itself. These are not authentically made by modern Viking. They are stealing other’s work and claiming it as their own and unjustly jacking up the prices to the point where they are ridiculously priced. If you comment or tell the truth, they block you from the page and then get nasty when you can’t even defend yourself. Absolutely shocking treatment of potential customers. I would have actually purchased other items from them, but they lost me with that cocky attitude and straight out lies. They also could have redeemed themselves by being honest in saying they ship some of their items in from elsewhere. Many companies do so I’m not sure why there’s so much shame in being honest about it. I encourage other potential buyers to avoid them and look elsewhere. Etsy and eBay have the exact same axes and they do drinking horns just as well too. These guys seem to be dishonest, dodgy and a lot of the other comments on here seem to back that claim.

Edited to add after the stupid reply from what appears to be a narcissist below: a firm yet professional “Viking” themed response lol.

1. There was no promotion of any other company on your post. You were extremely rude toward someone who was telling the TRUTH about your FAKE product and spilling FACTS about where to find the exact same product cheaper. You can literally find the same thing on many Viking stores, including eBay and Etsy. That’s not a promotion of an individual company but rather disputing your claim of authenticity. I am more than happy to show photos of your “authentic” product along with photos of the exact same thing on other websites, for a fraction of the price. Let me be clear, I don’t give a damn about the quality of your product, it’s the fact you claim it’s made better than others when it’s literally the exact same axe. Having purchased this axe myself, I can very easily state its quality is insanely good, so also stating others are shit compared to yours, is another false claim on your part.

2. Again, it’s literally the same axe. I don’t care where you get it from, but perhaps all the other companies you claim are lesser to yourself, get theirs from the exact same place too, only they don’t try to pass on rip off prices from their clientele.

3. Please show me how that particular axe you advertised is in any way shape or form, “unique” or “original”? It’s literally identical lol I’m starting to think you can’t actually read. Go look at the photos. You’re either lying, or your supplier is selling you the exact same thing and claiming it is “original”. The rope used around the me handle, identical. The studs, identical and identical placement, the blade and material, identical, the pattern and design on the blade, literally identical lol. How stupid do you think people are? Lol

4. You obviously don’t appreciate honest feedback, because when people are honest on your posts, you block them and claim they’re being rude. Telling the community that you are lying is not violating basic advertising etiquette. How about lying to your customers being a violation of advertising etiquette? Grow up lol.

As already stated, I have nothing against the products themselves, I have everything against charging almost double for a product that is 100% the same as others that are half the price, and then lying about it. It literally looks dumb that you try to convince people that this is your authentic work, and you blocking people looks childish whilst claiming to be “Viking” lol.

By all means, you carry on with the lies and blocking the truth. I’ll carry on warning others about the lies and narcissistic gaslighting when called out. If you’d like to see photos of your “authentic” axes available from other websites and sellers (there are countless) feel free to contact me via messenger and I’ll happily show you and you yourself can compare and show me where there is ANY difference. Or just keep your head in the sand, I don’t care either way lol.

Worst present ever!!

EDIT: After posting this review I got a response from them and they have given me a full refund of the price paid. I’ve upgraded my experience to two stars seeing as they did finally respond.

I brought a mug for my partners birthday recently, spent nearly $200 on it so not cheap! Initially loved it, looked amazing, but after a couple of months the sealant started to peel inside and it developed a strong smell. I emailed them about it which they replied to asking for photos. After sending the photos I never got another reply. Have sent numerous emails and comments on Facebook (which I have now been blocked from). Dodgy as company and products aren’t worth money!

Only reserved half my order

I ordered two items from here as a present for my partner, but I only reserved one item from my order.
I didn’t get any updates on if the item was on back order or anything. I later found out that the item is no longer on their website. I did not get reimbursed or anything.

I emailed them and got no response, too this day.
The one item I reserved was great quality but overall I’m extremely disappointed

First of all

First of all, the horn is beautiful and intricate and i glad i purchased it. Why then would you go and put in a crappy plastic looking holder that doesnt go with the horn at all. Its so crappy and cheap looking that its a complete contrast to the horn, because the horn is slightly twisted which i love, it cannot sit in the holder properly and would tip over if full of liquid. Considering biing the holder and finding a nicer one as this just ruins the aesthetic of it. Also slightly annoyed there is no gold rim as stated in craftmans marks.

Forgot my order twice, no communication and blocked me

Ordered 2 horns but after 2 weeks there was no update on the tracking, reached out and was told "it looks like the warehouse has cancelled the order iv raised a ticket why they have done it, but usually its the stock has been lost," no refund or contact was made by them untill I had chased it. They were going to send 2 different horns out as a replacement, 2 and a bit weeks later still nothing. Reached out again and they had forgotten my order for the 2nd time, had to dispute through PayPal before they reply to messages and actually sent the items. After waiting over a month I finally received the horns so went back to Facebook to update my review and they have blocked me! Guess they are happy with the negative review I left then.

I would like to update the review on here and Facebook as stated a resolution was made and the products were great (i have upped this review to 2 stars because if the product), unfortunately I am still unable to access your Facebook page through my account. It's there when others search for it and when I am not logged in but as soon as I log in "page is unavailable" so I assume I am blocked.
I was not informed at any point that auspost had lost my items as claimed just that my order was cancelled by the warehouse as per the emails with customer service on 22/11/23. Being in customer service myself I understand the ball occasionally gets dropped but it was dropped twice with my order and took serious escalation through paypal to get a response for if the resolution was actioned or not hence the low star review. I understand your frustration but there is no slander or false claims in the review just an accurate recount of my experience.
