You would think a tech company could figure out data storage

The fact that a game license can be revoked in an age where terabytes of data can be stored cheaply is a joke. Microsoft is one of the largest tech companies in the world and yet they can’t seem to allow people to migrate their Mojang accounts. Equal parts legally grey and morally disgusting.

They sold their soul to the devil and…

They sold their soul to the devil and now their consumers pay the price. I was an early purchaser of Minecraft, buying it about 14 years ago, long before Microsoft had their dirty fingers involved. During the period of playing this game, I migrated my account once, from Minecraft to Mojang, if I recall correctly. Unfortunately, due to life circumstances, I and many other users stopped playing for a time, and now upon returning have found our accounts are no longer accessible to us. We didn't migrate our Mojang accounts to Microsoft accounts. We didn't jump through the hoops. As I said, I bought this game from Mojang, not Microsoft. But Microsoft has chosen to lock me out of that account, going back in time to take control of my purchase. This is simply disgusting. Mojang themselves can shift the blame if they like, but when you lay down with pigs, you're going to get dirty.

Great games but augh....

Minecraft and other games are very good and i'd totally reccomend them to anybody. The only problem is MICROSOFT. Microsoft a few years ago made a decision to "Migrate Mojang Accounts to microsoft accounts" where basically a few years ago mojang accounts were required to have minecraft. But then microsoft wanted to migrate these accounts to microsoft accounts, the only issue with this is that people didnt get NOTIFIED of this. Now, you may think thats not a big deal but they decided that people who did not migrate their mojang accounts to microsoft accounts in 3 years their mojang accounts GET DELETED. It deletes your game license for minecraft too and customer support will just tell you to buy the game again. A game you literally already paid for. Its really s***** for companies to just take away your game license without even warning you of it. Yes it did allow for more security purposes like 2FA and more, but why not just implement those features INTO mojang accounts? Well now onto the other thing. The chat reporting system. The chat reporting system is a feature that was added to minecraft in 1.19.1. It is INSANELY flawed. If your account gets banned you lose access to Multiplayer and realms. If you get banned when you have an active Realms subscription it will not get cancelled. You will still be paying for something you cannot ACCESS AT ALL. This feature even applies to PRIVATE SERVERS. So you can get banned from saying something in your own private server which is just horrible. And in minecraft bedrock if you got banned you would lose access to the entire game. Yup! No singleplayer, multiplayer or anything. Really great games but this? No just no....

I bought Minecraft back in 2010

I bought Minecraft back in 2010, with a licence that was supposed to last in perpetuity, however, now the game isn't working anymore. I contacted customer service and turns out they have dropped the old licences, without letting original owners know that they made that change. I never received any communications from Mojang, Minecraft or Microsoft (which apparently now owns the game) about any such change. It is a really misguided way to treat customer's who had been with you from the beginning, shame on you! Cannot recommend this company.

Migrating to Microsoft is not always possible.

I tried to get help migrating one of my old Minecraft accounts to the new Microsoft accounts system.
Problem is your Minecraft account needs an email against it, which I don't have accept for the email used to register the game. That's different to the email account for the game :(
So many useless conversations, and answering the same questions over and over again, almost as if no one actually takes time to understand what is going on.
The account was one of the original accounts that didn't require an email to log in. Without that I cannot get the account back according to support. I provided proof of purchase, by giving them a list of about 5 accounts bought around the date. One of them matches perfectly. Proof of purchase doesn't help the problem.
This was never resolved because support do not have enough information with the old accounts. So basically have lost an account because of their incompetency.

Theft!

Paid for service that is no longer available.

I bought Minecraft, they migrated my account and then they sold to Microsoft at which point my account was presumably deleted. Now they "no longer help with account issues"... how convenient for them.

Should have Zero starts

Purchased Minecraft. Have no idea what account they actually signed me up with. Guess it was my Microsoft account.
Try to manage account… get error message that the App Store do not have what it apparently take.
Try Feedback… not working. Can’t login can’t reset password. Can’t get username.
Hope that you’re rich because, God, they are ugly.

Microsoft is hopeless

After several years of attempts and contacting support about minecraft migration to Microsoft I finally did it. It was almost impossible.

I have no idea why, but for some reason it worked this time. Usually there's a error message or something else.

Mojang was always good so I'm suspecting that microsoft really messed this up, that's gently speaking.
