Don't buy the game if you don't want any problems.

I have successfully lost 2 accounts due to the migrationt thing; starting in May 2022, I have sent literally 50 tickets, 12 of which only got a response from bots, and only my last one got a human reply... only to be closed because I hadn't replied for a walloping two days, but they took their sweet sweet 10 whole days to reply to my ticket. Thank you Mojang for your terrible service.

Why don't they give a damn about us anymore?

From the banning of minecraft events, the lack of acknowledgement over the rigged and pointless mob votes, and the failure to provide the community with the content they were promised to the forced migration to Microsoft accounts and purposeful selection of which features go in which game version (Don't think we don't know what you're doing there, buddy), Mojang for a few years now has been an absolute disaster, relying on kids who don't know they're being screwed over to ask their parents to buy them minecoins or get them the game on a different platform (because why have the same game version on all devices when we can make you PAY for them all INDIVIDUALLY and have NONE of your data?). I am ashamed to have been one of those children a few years ago, and I am doubly ashamed that a company can act like this and still have the nerve to pretend they care. Mojang are scamming children, and making things worse for everyone at each opportunity they are given to fix things. Shame on you, Mojang/Microsoft.

1/5 useless support

I contacted Minecraft Support when my Minecraft Java license just disappeared from my account. They kept sending me to Microsoft Support, and Microsoft Support kept sending me back to Minecraft Support. Absolutely useless, couldn't help me even when I provided proof of purchase and proof of migration. 1/5

I'm NOT buying the game again, farewell Minecraft.

Mojang Breach of Sales Agreement

I'm unable to use the account I paid for.

Mojang constructively breached terms of sale by taking down their authentication servers and forcing the migration of accounts to Microsoft. Customers who purchased when the game was in Alpha are not obligated to use Microsoft accounts to have access to the game.

I personally do not wish to convert my account to one which takes away my privacy and sells my data for advertising, marketing, or other purposes. I am not obligated to do so either.

Mojang and Microsoft believe they can unilaterally modify a TOS/EULA agreement at their discretion however Alpha customers such as myself have a specific and defined agreement that has no revision clause. I purchased the software in October of 2010, and for reference the Wayback Machine should have an instance of the terms of sale in its archive. Mojang has created several harms through this breach as described below.

Mojang made claims of performance including the provision of authentication servers for access to the game (insomuch that they exist as a company to do so), which included custom skin support. This was Mojang's direct responsibility to provide.

Mojang also made the claim that customers (alpha) are entitled access to all future versions of the game at no additional charge, which also includes add-on content. Microsoft hosts a store full of Mojang content and they charge money for said add-on content. Mojang has made no apparent effort to secure access to this content for qualifying customers. To this day it remains locked behind this paywall.

Mojang and Microsoft have also constructively breached the sales agreement by forcing automated updates of the launcher software and claiming that use of the launcher/client constitutes agreement to any updates they present in the TOS. When they do this, they are attacking the fabric of the sales agreement and attempting to strip away my access to the client and subsequently use of my account.

Mojang claimed it would investigate bringing back functionality for older client software (with no clarity on the forced migration issue). At the time of this posting it is two months past their stated deadline of "looking into the possibility" with no feedback to those who posted the bug report. Many customers believe that this lack of support is killing off the older community needlessly and I tend to agree. Whether through lack of resources or by intentional neglect, Mojang has effectively roused the concerns of their customers and avoided their contractual obligations.

Since Microsoft acquired the company, Mojang has been engaged in development of their software in preparation for switching over to Microsoft's infrastructure. The features they were able to introduce as a result include language filtering/censorship and a user reporting tool built into the client that works in conjunction with an automated account ban functionality. These additions effect and diminish uses of the game and they violate the original terms of sale. Mojang does not have the authority to modify causes for suspension of user accounts beyond those set forth in the original terms of sale for Alpha customers.

Giving up your rights or compromising in order to have the benefit of that which you already contractually agreed to and paid for is fraud. Mojang has not come forward to take care of the customers it has wronged in these ways. Alpha customers, who helped make the game the financial success that it is today through early adoption have been disrespected and discarded.

It has been exactly one year since Mojang violated our sales agreement and they show no willingness to remedy the situation. This is my experience, but I doubt I am alone in that experience.

I know other people have had challenges with Microsoft and Mojang passing the buck and not helping customers gain access to their accounts even among those who have attempted to migrate into that ecosystem they claim is so much better and more secure. Suffice to say that the experiences I've heard from others are just one more reason for me to stand in opposition to what is clearly a downgrade and abandonment of accountability to the customer.

I don't trust this company anymore

I don't trust this company anymore. My friend had the same experience. You buy something it takes the money out of your account, you reach out to customer service cause it doesn't work. No help. You don't get the version you want. Then you cant sign in. Can't change password. This company is full of crap. All I wanted to do was play Minecraft on one of 6 systems that it is on. So mad at them. Do not trust a word they say, they are liars.

RIP minecraft

Can no longer access the game due to forced account migration, said migration process being broken and unusable.
Impossible support, automated bot replies, didn't even send a relevant response to my email...
Not being able to access a game I purchased long before the Microsoft takeover is just wrong.
12 years of playing a game and it comes to a bitter end.

Please work on your support and customer service.
I tried to get through to an actual human both through Mojang and Microsoft, no success of course.

This review is in relation to Customer service, Microsoft aggression and bad account management.

Warning! Scam company!

Bought the game and a subscription. My game disappeared after about a month and the subscription never worked, but the bills did kept coming.

Trying to get customer support for help but they just keep stalling in all possible manners, such as requesting info, getting it, then pretending not to read it and keep requesting the info they already had.

I soon gave up hoping to get my purchase and requested a refund but they continue stalling and evading in the same manner.

They do it way too well for it to be plain incompetence and from reading here on Trustpilot this seems to be a consistent strategy and the way they do their business, basically a scam operation.

Probably have to consider the money lost and contact my card provider to stop the billing.

Updated: My card provider solved it and I got my money back and the subscription cancelled.

Great game, abysmally bad support.

The game itself is great... I consider it easily the best game of all times. Unfortunately, the support is exceptional too. It's been exceptionally bad for the pocket edition already. Since the migration to the Microsoft accounts the ailment spread over onto desktop versions. In short, the users of the Jave edition have to buy the license again. I initially bought th4 licenses for every member of my family so that we could play over LAN. This became impossible until we buy the licenses again. A stinky scheme that made us look for alternatives. I'd probably be just fine paying again but not while being forced into it. That's not the way one treats customers, or at least I'm not the kind of customer who would suffer this sort of treatment. Shame, really, it's a great game...

Not possible to play after migration

I bought the game 11 years ago and it has been working seence. Now all accounts needs to be migrated to a microsoft account to be able to play the game. When I enter the email to migrate I get the message that the email does not exist. No help from support, as they require the original transaction ID, and can not give anny information of the email problem.

Disappointing at first, but ends up helpful.

Ok, here is my HONEST review. Two months ago I may have rated Mojang support/customer service a 2 or less but now I feel like it should be a 4. The reason it started so low because while trying to migrate my Minecraft account to Microsoft I was having some problems, however recently this has been resolved by so called Fletcher Joe (just a nickname by that's what it said on the email). After submitting 3 messages, they did everything I wanted and completely solved the problem. So it's a thumbs up from me, but if it's serious and you have had to send something a couple of times then make that evident in your message (by saying "this is my 3rd time asking") or something similar. So far, it's pretty decent! 👍
