Their cancellation policy is very bad

Their cancellation policy is very bad. I cancelled on my subscription and they still went ahead to deduct from my balance and this went on for months. I was able to rectify it and recover my money with the help of the company in my profile picture.

Technical issues, no help. My premium sub is useless.

I have had nothing but issues with the canadian website and with my subscription. Even getting the subscription was a difficult process, and the call centre could not process my credit card. I wanted the premium subscription so I could unlock certain filters in the screening tools. However, I can not get the screening tools to work. No matter what paramters I change, I get the same list of stocks. I choose the 0-2% option in the yield filter and it defaults to >8%. Again, no change to stock list. This is just one of many problems I have encountered. There is no phone number fo customer service. I filled in the contact form to ask for assistance or a refund and the submit button did not work (I checked, and I have filled in the form correctly with all fields completed). I seldom write reviews but I am so pissed off with this. A complete rip off and a waste of $150.

Mstar is really slow to fix problems

Mstar is really slow to fix problems I have experienced with exporting various views of my data to Excel. I viewed and downloaded a few views of my EOY data on 1.01.25. They downloaded all of the same view rather than what I was actually viewing. I advised them of an issue on 1.05.25 of the issue. They blamed my browser which I have regularly used for the same thing for many years, and very recently in November and December. It is now a couple of weeks later and the problem still is not fixed. I am a subscriber to the tune of about $ 250 per year. It's shameful that they are not fixing the problem, only telling me to dunce with their "work a rounds"

Total rip off

Total rip off. I had cancelled my subscription and because they have a s***ty system, I still had to cough up $34.95, even though I screen printed my cancellation. Apparently I was supposed to get a confirmation, which I never got. The representative told me their policy didn't allow for refunds on monthly subscriptions and there was not much they could do. Anyways, nothing special about the information they sell. Crooks - they should be shut down.

I wouldn’t give one star

I wouldn’t give one star, except that’s the only way I can actually make this review. Morningstar is highly complex, without customer service that can simplify the process of reviewing stocks and creating portfolios. I’ve had Morningstar for years and still barely know how to use it. I’ve wanted to cancel two or three times with lackadaisical customer service contacting me to solve any of my issues or to even cancel, no reply is standard procedure with my customer rep. In addition, now that I’ve finally reached him and badgered him for a week to call me back. He says I’m not allowed to cancel because I paid a yearly subscription so I have three full months over 350 a month that I’m not getting refunded. Say no to Morningstar there’s many many programs out there through outdated overrated and under serving.

Morningstar, data errors and faulty stock screener

Morningstar publishes incorrect data on stocks and takes years to fix problems, if ever. (1) Add some dividend-paying stocks stocks to a watchlist, download the list each day and compare to previous day, watch the dividend amount and the dividend yield. It is the *div amount* that fluctuates each day, not the yield! Mstar support says they calculate the div amount from the price and the yield (so where does Mstar get the yield and isn't it the co that declares the div amount?). The problem was reported almost two years ago and is still not fixed. Do a web search for "morningstar dividend wrong andy fraser" (2) The advanced stock filters don't work, was confirmed as not working by Mstar in a shared desktop session close to two years ago, still not fixed. Sites such as Seeking Alpha, Investing.com, Barchart.com are more functional, have more data, have more accurate data, are more affordable, and support is more responsive. Mstar is ok for their ratings, but not their data or stock screener.

Morningstar for such a large global are atrocious

Morningstar for such a large global outfit are an absolute mess and disgrace . Subscription is supposed to include detailed Analysts and research data which I am paying for. However the system info broke down 4 months again and despite constant promises it would be fixed and a top team are working on it, nothing has happened. All requests to treat the matter as a Complaint are completely ignored. Must be one of the worst Customer services organisations on the planet. The same info system has broken down 6 times over the past few years, you get told its your system at fault, it never is ! They have to repair it in the end every time. Dont touch with a bargepole, appalling organisation

Utterly Hopeless Service (Took 2x subscription and seem unable to refund)

Website has no facility to subscribe if you've already had the free trial. Only solution was to phone (yes, phone) where eventually (a day or so later) someone took my credit card details, then told me there was a systems problem and would phone back. Needless to say they didn't, and I discovered they'd taken 2 premium subscription payments - and the website still had me at the free subscription. After calling them again, I had to submit a copy of my bank statement (yes, really!). Still no communication from them - I'm now going to have to get the bank involved to recover the funds. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME

Absolutely useless customer support. Don't waste your money.

Absolutely useless customer support. Portfolio performance tracking price lookup fails to return a quote for a fund, the result being the whole portfolio performance cannot be monitored. Have raised it and escalated it over the past 3 moths or more. No updates provided unless chased and no fix provided. They are clearly not working on it. CEO was appointed because he's an excellent leader. Not from where I'm sitting.

I think they increase the price when it… Utter waste

I think they increase the price when it goes up, and lower it when the price goes down, do we need equity analysts to do that?

Their projections are so short-term term hence they keep on changing things, imagine buffet followed Morningstar he would have gone broke by now lol

Good analysts must be able to stand their ground on their valuation despite huge temporary irrationalities, I have never seen that for example when Meta crashed they hurried to lower valuations, when stock went up they rushed to increase valuation come on give me a break...
Even China's equity analyst is a complete joke, one week she suggested BABA, JD, and PDD, and the next week she suggested TEMU, JD, and BABA, so what if any investor wanna follow their advice supposed to do? Change stock week by week? lol

Ok advice. Poor customer experience.

Not saying the advice on the website is terrible, but any website that forces you to call them, wait on hold and talk to two people to cancel or hold a membership subscription is annoying and feels like a scam. Being that the trust is an essential part of financial advice, this turns me off them. The idea of returning to them is extremely unlikely after this experience with their customer service.

Just putting it out there. It took 11 months for them to respond on trust pilot too…

Professional Advisors Against Morningstar

Truly, they don't deserve any star. I own a professional registered investment advisory firm and can tell you we are just as frustrated, if not more, than the investors writing in on Trustpilot.

At one time Morningstar was the gold standard. Now they don't even deserve to be in the lead (Pb) standard. Kunal Kapoor and the rest of the social revolutionaries are more interested in communist concepts such as ESG and EDI. They are committing corporicide in my opinion.

Charging for closed accounts and refusing full refunds.

Closing your account doesn't stop them from charging your card at renewal time without notice. When I called for a refund they admitted I didn't have access but refused refund the entire amount. I am going to initiate a chargeback and have the bank block them. Also the site was frequently down and it was full of broken links to their own content. It was not useful in my case.

The Wreck of Morningstar.com

M*.com has now been almost entirely dismantled. Their new Investor has not been populated with many of the capabilities that were on M*.com. For example, where did all the tools go??? Both fund and ETF tools like "Similar Funds" etc. aren't anywhere to be found. Investor pages crash all the time and have to be refreshed and the popup graphics you were looking at have to be recreated. Portfolio is worse than it was on M*.com and it freezes and crashes. I've been a premium subscriber for more than 15 years and this is the lowest point, the worst service, that I have ever seen at M*. I'm not renewing because Yahoo finance can do everything better for free. Even more irritating is the Help function is now offloaded to a community website and you have to join that to look up any help. What happened??? Did M* layoff all their geeks? What a crappy way to provide help -- this isn't Quicken for chrise sake.

RIP Morningstar.com.

Not possible to cancel Morningstar Dividend subscription

My subscription to Morningstar Dividend Investor was renewed without my agreeing to it. They promise on their website to stop the subscription any time you want and reimburse the money. But there is no replies on emails.
Strange because this it such a well known name but it seems to be a subscription scam.
Do not take a subscription!
