I started dealing with Tanya Kilmartin at Morris Solicitors following an accident in January 2023.
The other side admitted liability within a relatively short period of time, yet the progress of my case was extremely slow. It took around a year before I was seen by a medical expert, and throughout the case I often felt that I had to chase matters myself rather than being kept informed and updated.
One of the main issues was obtaining the interim payment. Rather than this being actively progressed, I found myself repeatedly having to pursue Tanya to get any movement on the matter.
The most concerning aspect arose when I was told that court proceedings had been issued so that a judge could determine whether I was entitled to further compensation. After being informed that proceedings had been issued, I heard nothing of a date for months. Whenever I contacted Tanya for an update, I was repeatedly told that she was chasing the matter and pressing for progress.
Eventually, after becoming frustrated with the delays, I complained and dealt with John Morrison instead, as I no longer felt confident that the case was being progressed appropriately.
After I began dealing with John, it became apparent to me that court proceedings had not in fact been issued. Had proceedings been issued, I would have expected to receive a notice of hearing and any other relevant documentation, and I would have had to sign the necessary paperwork. Despite being told on numerous occasions that the matter was being pursued and chased, no such progress had been made. After dealing with John within a very short time court proceedings were progressed.
What should have been a straightforward case, given that liability was admitted early on, has only been finalised today despite the accident occurring in January 2023. In my view, the excessive delays, lack of progress, and the information I was given regarding court proceedings caused unnecessary stress and frustration throughout the claim.
When I was eventually awarded an interim payment, I was told that the funds would be received within 21 days. After the 23rd day had passed, I contacted the firm for an update and was informed that it would be chased.
I then contacted the firm again and was once more told that the payment would be chased and I would be contacted. However, after a few more days, when I made further enquiries, I was informed that the payment had already arrived.
This left me feeling frustrated and concerned about the communication surrounding the payment. In my view, there appeared to be unnecessary delays in providing me with accurate information, and I was left with the impression that matters were being stalled. I also felt that the payment may have been received earlier than I had been told.
I am sharing my experience so that others dealing with Tanya Kilmartin can make their own informed decisions, ask questions, and closely monitor the progress of their case. If you find yourself experiencing similar delays or communication issues, you may wish to consider requesting that another solicitor handle your matter.

Approximately, 3 years and 10 months my, myself and I inexperienced individual taking a multi conglomerate's navigating an insurance claim i.e; Tesco, would be described as a ‘minefield’ of a ‘marathon’.
