NO aftersales customer service - we have been ripped off
After an initial good experience with the sale, the moment we took the car, our nightmare began. We spent £24k on a kia sportage - they promised they would fix the petrol cap and a scratch in the paintwork on the boot. As soon as I logged into the app after picking the car up and driving it a short distance home, it told me there was an engine fault with the car- so Motorpoint must have known about this when they sold the car. The engine maintenance light came on shortly afterwards - less than 24 hours after purchase. Customer service has been shockingly poor since this. Their only response has been for us to take the car to Kia. No empathy, compassion, apology for any inconvenience - nothing. No manager is ever available to talk to. Scott said he is an assistant manager but no one else on site that can help us when we went back to Motorpoint and rejected the car -I couldn't be sure it was safe to drive but they refused - not their policy. Also refused us an exchange - this was only an option if we pay an extra £500 fee. The car is currently with Kia who tell me it cannot be fixed until 19th July. I have a courtesy car from Motorpoint because I have demanded one and cannot work without a car. The other items that Motorpoint had also promised to fix like the petrol cap and a scratch in the paintwork on the boot - neither were addressed and Kia have informed me that Motorpoint have not requested that these be fixed at all. We spent £24k on a car on 24th May 2026 which we have had for less than 2 weeks and has a significant fault that has meant it has had to go back to kia and Motorpoint will not talk to us about our options. Noone has called us - we are having to chase them. They do not do what they say they will do. There is no aftercare customer service. I feel like we were conned and ripped off. We are having to look into trading standards and ombudsman options to pursue a resolution. I strongly advise anyone to look elsewhere for a car.

Purchased a car in December 2025.
4 months later developed an issue with the wet belt, went thought their approved repair process (spectrum) then 6 weeks later same problem low engine oil pressure.
I was sold the car, after reading their multi point inspection stating the wet belt was in good condition with a tick ✔️.
Boy was that report wrong.. Car has gone back to original garage (which carried out the replacement). Stating they have found metal fragments within the oil, along with the car drinking almost all the fresh oil within 6 weeks!
Garage quote ‘ We have drained oil and found metal residue in the oil. Removed sump and rocker box to see if we can see any wear to cams or Crank but will need engine removed and stripped to check Crank shells for wear.
Mostly damage caused from lack of oil pressure due to previous wet belt breaking up and blocking strainer’
I mean, I’m not a mechanic.. sounds like the engine isn’t in the best shape.
The current fault has been linked by the repairing garage to the same oil-pressure/wet-belt issue that was previously repaired, indicating that the original repair has not successfully fixed the defect.
A polite email requesting to reject the vehicle was sent, a response was received stating I had no ground, I awaited a phone call. Did I receive one? What do you think?

Complaints procedure followed with an expected response within 2 days.. nothing… awful customer service.
Clearly a reoccurring issue and the root cause of this fault was not resolved.
Thanks for selling me a car that’s unreliable, not fit for use & overall unsatisfactory.
I believe it’s my statutory right to reject this vehicle and claim my money back for this lemon Motorpoint Oldbury sold me.
AVOID the headache guys.

Very efficient and friendly service provided. First time for me using Motorpoint and I would use them again. Offered me what I wanted in part exchange and had a good choice of cars. They just happened to have the car I wanted and wasn't too far away from home. So far very pleased with my car.

Motorpoint is a disaster
Motorpoint is a disaster. I bought a 2018 Kia Sportage at 6,000 miles and the gearbox gave me trouble. The extended warranty I bought from Motorpoint refused to cover the repair costs. Also, the water pump is useless, and the warranty company refused to pay anything. Motorpoint and the extended warranty through Spectrum are truly awful. I wouldn't want to buy from Motorpoint to my worst enemy, and certainly not with a Spectrum warranty.

Ryan at Oldbury branch was very helpful for finding us the the car for our needs, nothing was too much trouble for him, very good run motor business, all down to the collection, where Connor took us for a test drive as wasn't used to automatic, then going through everything to get us on the road, would definitely use again, 10/10 for everything

Great service & smooth experience
My wife and I visited on 23rd May simply to have a look around to get some ideas of models and prices as it’s a long time since we’ve upgraded. Service at Motorpoint Oldbury was excellent from the minute we walked in and were greeted by Gary and told how things worked. We were absolutely delighted to find a “no pressure” type approach without having to ask for it and found Gary a total pleasure to deal with. He got it pitch-perfect for us in terms of letting us know he was immediately on hand should we have questions or need help but fell back to let us get on with having a look around at our own pace. Gary was attentive and really personable and never once over-bearing. Lovely young guy with a great approach to customer service.
The “just looking” quickly changed when we came across a perfect vehicle (a high spec, nearly new Hyundai i20) that my wife fell for. Gary talked us through the purchase process clearly and efficiently (with great humour thrown in) and negotiated a very fair part-exchange price for our existing car, which we were very happy with.
The positive experience continued later that afternoon with Alex, who facilitated the test drive and ultimately closed the sale process. Again, Alex had a fantastic approach and great attitude with a great bit of humour thrown in to make it a smooth and pleasurable experience (really important I think when you’re being asked to part with serious cash!). The tiniest niggle was that the spare key wasn’t available at the branch on the day of purchase and had to be dispatched from another branch, but Alex resolved that for us without any stress and it was even delivered to our home via recorded post within a matter of days, to save us even having to make a trip to collect! More great service!
So, it turned out to be an expensive day for us (!) but the whole experience was absolutely first class. Professional yet fun and that all important “no pressure” approach really ticked our boxes and my wife is absolutely over the moon with her new car! Huge thanks to Gary and Alex for looking after us so well. Despite the high turnover environment, we still felt “special” and that goes a long way. We’d certainly have no hesitation recommending Motorpoint at Oldbury to anyone. 10/10.

I bought a van from the Oldbury store. The whole process was very good and wwll organised from start to finish. I dealt with Tom over the phone initially and he was great. He did offer the after sales products but was not at all pushy at any point and was easy to deal with.
