After buying 5 cars from Motorpoint I won't be using them again. I identified an issue with my week old car, was refused a refund for some work carried out (which I had never requested) and was dismissed by them, totally uninterested! extremely poor customer service.
From start to finish - found the whole experience straight forward & hassle free.
Representative were informative, very efficient & friendly.

Jake was really helpful at motorpoint Widnes and offered us all the options without being pushy. I have part exchanged and bought 2 cars from there now and always been really pleased. Thank you.

It's a relaxed place to buy a car.
There is no pressurising sales tactics.
A place where the customer buys a car rather than getting sold a car.
My car was clean and well presented, valeted and fuelled up.

I purchased an electric vehicle from Motorpoint on 2nd May and have had an awful experience from start to finish.
Before collecting the car, I specifically requested a full battery health check because I was concerned about buying a used EV. I was assured this was unnecessary because the vehicle had a “full service.” However, when I collected the car from Daniel Tasker, we discovered it hadn’t actually been serviced since January 2025. He promised to investigate and follow up with me, but never did.
The same day we took the car home, we discovered it would not charge using a standard home charger. We then tried a public charging point and found it would only charge on high voltage chargers. I formally emailed Motorpoint on 6th May to report the fault and received no response.
After chasing them by phone, Ashley Brett advised me to take the vehicle to Halfords for diagnostics, only for my local Halfords to tell me they don’t deal with EVs. I then called back and was told to bring the car into Motorpoint before 5:30pm the following day. I arrived at 5pm, only to be told the relevant staff member had already gone home despite being told they worked until 5:30pm.
Motorpoint then briefly inspected the car and took it to a nearby garage, where I was informed there was a major battery fault and the car needed to go to Vauxhall for diagnostics. Despite selling me a faulty EV, they could not provide a courtesy car.
I commute 60 miles a day for work and cannot be without a vehicle. Their “solution” was to reimburse my public charging costs, meaning I now have to visit charging stations every evening because I cannot charge the car at home. When I raised concerns about driving long distances with a major battery fault, I was simply given a breakdown phone number.
Communication throughout this process has been shocking. I repeatedly had to chase for updates, spent huge amounts of time on hold, and was repeatedly promised callbacks from managers that never happened. On 8th May - the morning after the visit, after waiting 30 minutes on hold, I was finally told by Ashley the vehicle was booked into Vauxhall on 20th May — nearly two weeks after the fault was identified and during dates I would be away (even though I provided availability). I requested all information in writing by email which I had to wait four hours for.
At this point - incredibly frustrated I called to escalate the matter to a manager and was promised a callback in 30 minutes. Callback never happened.
I called again, the only person who actually listened was a manager named Luke, but even he admitted he wasn’t the correct person to resolve the issue. He advised me the customer service manager would call me back the following day (9th May), as expected - no callback.
I feel completely let down by Motorpoint. I have effectively been sold an electric vehicle with a faulty battery that cannot properly charge, and the aftersales support has been appalling. The amount of stress, inconvenience, time wasted, and additional travel required has completely ruined what should have been an exciting purchase. I don't feel that I have been taken seriously as a young woman. The only reason I haven’t returned the car is because I rely on it for work.
I would strongly advise anyone to avoid Motorpoint Widnes at all costs.

The fact you are not bothered by sales people, I don't like what you have done putting everything on apps. What is easier than glancing and seeing the price. You have printed all the details and that is placed clearly for you to see but you have to faff around to get the price. I don't use apps. I want to retain being a human being.

Went to view a vehicle on Saturday after seeing it on web site .
The vehicle was priced near to £30k and we took our sons’ Golf to part exchange and for him to have our present car .
We didn’t quibble on their price of their vehicle and also accepted their part exchange valuation of the Golf ( £4,750 ) against the purchase price .
We must be a cars sellers dream customer as the deal was completed in about 20mins and it was arranged to collect the car on bank holiday Monday . Arrived home and did the insurance change for the Monday.
We went to collect the car on the Monday and was dealt with by a different sales person who stated that the previous sales person had missed an apparent fault that the Golf had and as a result they would have to reduce the part exchange value by £500 down to £4,250 .
I wanted to walk away from the deal but as my wife liked the car and the insurance had been changed we went ahead purchasing the car without placing the Golf as a part exchange.
I did a bank transfer and took the car away.
In the meantime my son booked an appointment with ‘ we buy any car ‘ and we took the Golf down for an appraisal . We agreed on a purchase price of £4,900 by them , after them also taking their £75 fee . This was £650 more than their estimated value of the vehicle .
The moral of this story ‘ SHOP AROUND ‘ and be prepared to walk away from a deal . The car we bought is good value for money but I’m extremely disappointed with a multi national company the size of Motorpoint that they didn’t honour their original offer .
Would I shop there again ? I’m not too sure .

We have sold a couple of vehicles to Motorpoint in the past, and decided to look for a new vehicle at the Widnes Motorpoint store.
George handles our initial visit perfectly, we were left to look around the vehicle in our own time, with no pressure. Test drive was faultless, decided to leave a deposit. No pressure to buy, and whilst we were offered the usual overpriced extras, like Williams coating, we were never put under pressure to take them like some other dealers.
We collected the car, and dealt with Abigail, the collection was faultless, the car was prepped to a good standard, and had enough charge for our journey home.
Overall, would 100% recommend Motorpoint based on this experience.
