I dont know why there are so 1 star reviews. Yt music has a very pleasant interface, and often more songs than spotify, because anybody could upload one. And the fact its in the same subscription as y... See more

Better than other music services but…

Better than other music services but random function isn't that good will often play 20 song's then repeat the same 20 song's, and although I pick original songs it will all of a sudden change them to poor copy's or even covers and it also pops in song's that are totally unrelated to the type of music I like

Community contributions are the biggest hit!

It's great because it has community contributions, which others don't. That's the biggest plus.

I could not find some titles on it that I could on Apple Music, for instance.

Pricing is good because for one price you get 3 services (YouTube, Music, and YT Kids) w/o ads.

What I don't like is that their mobile clients don't have good sorting. You can't e.g. listen to songs from oldest added to a playlist, and I do hope they change this.

The shuffle function via the firestick…

The shuffle function via the firestick app is so basic and low function it's embarrassing. Plays the same handful of songs despite a playlist of 700 videos. Seemingly no effort being put into a resolution either.

Perfect but some chrome extensions required

I pay for it and it's great some chrome extensions are much needed for the web version as it has a very janky interface for example the volume slider is awful and a big company like google shouldn't rely on other people to improve their services

YouTube is really good if you create…

YouTube is really good if you create your own playlists and have the patience to manually add every song you want to hear. But if you just play a song — like something from Adele — the next tracks that autoplay are often songs you’ve never heard before, by artists you don’t even recognize. Half the time, you’re wondering what I’m listening to.

Instead of following up with other popular songs or current chart hits, YouTube keeps pushing random, unknown tracks that don’t match the vibe. It’s especially frustrating if you’re coming from Spotify, where the recommendations are way more accurate and enjoyable.

No matter how many famous artists you listen to — Adele, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, Olivia Rodrigo — the algorithm still insists on feeding you obscure music you don’t like, don’t enjoy, and didn’t ask for. It gets really annoying after a while.

Absolutely Useless

Absolutely Useless
I’ve only recently signed up to YouTube music.
At first it was really good, but after a few weeks, the whole app started to present me with a circle, just going round and round.
At least I could use my already stored playlists, when this happened, or even when there was no signal.
However, the app kept failing more and more frequently, so taking YouTube’s advice, I deleted the app, and then reinstalled it.
This procedure simply made the problems worse, and also took away my playlists, and all offline music access !
Eventually, I gave up, and so I tried to cancel my subscription.
Unfortunately, the app won’t recognise my device, and it has misconnected my payment system.
The only solutions are now with my service provider, and the lega department of my bank.
As part of the giant Google empire, YouTube music should put their house in order !
Emails and online forms that I have sent to this pathetic organisation, have produced a big useless nothing.
It looks like YouTube music subscriptions are yet another scam.

Desktop Site

Review is for desktop site. There is no app currently. The web is kinda alright but you can't see comments of songs like the mobile app. If I try to close the site while a song is playing, the browser shows a message to that all my unsaved data will be lost. It is an unnecessary burden. Other than that, its a nice experience.

This app is pretty good

This app is pretty good, it's not perfect, but I like it. It's way better than Spotify, been having issues with them the music never playing when I'm trying to listen to music unlike YouTube music, these songs actually play.

I do not recommend it

I do not recommend it, I had a playlist of about 170 songs, suddenly there were 140 songs on the list that I can no longer listen to unless I pay for premium, shame I do not recommend it

You Tube Music Price increase

I changed from Spotify to You Tube music when Spotify increased their charges. The You Tube app was fine although a little glitchy at times. Unfortunately You Tube Music juts announced a price increase of 20%. (Family Plan). That would be fine if the APP was improved for example the music resolution was improved - but there is no improvement just a price increase. I'm going to move to Tidal which is slightly cheaper but the quality of the sound much better.

The app freezes up and essentially…

The app freezes up and essentially restarts randomly if it is paused. When I open it, it waits and scans pointlessly for several minutes instead of just showing and playing the files I have stored right there on my phone. About half the time, it "forgets" my place in paused files, forcing it back to the beginning.

Bad at everything it does.

A poor replacement for Google music and Google podcasts. It does neither well. The software is buggy on flagship devices and often just doesn't work. It's offline performance is also poor. Sometimes playlists just get stuck on random songs and needs to be "force stopped". It often doesn't play well with android auto. It costs more and is worse by every measure then it's competitors. Spend your money elsewhere. Google has a habit of stopping services and replacing them with worse apps like this. Extremely disappointing, they also never respond to bug reports, Reddit and other forums are littered with complaints and no improvements for basic functions. Terrible software, terrible support and when I can get around to porting my playlists elsewhere I will do so.
