Penalized by Spotify

Haha, I'm not even mad anymore. It's just sad.

Even your explanations to these people whose songs you've gotten removed are a joke. Spotify literally emailed me themselves about the songs that were taken down because of the fake streams and bot activities done by this "promotion" company, I didn't even have a back-up for them, lost forever and for what? To make money off people, thinking that the promotions are real and "organic"? these are hardworking people who just wanted to spend their hard-earned money on bettering their lives by promoting their music for a chance of success in this industry.

But hey!, you got us this time...

Hi Jovell,

We want to reassure you that our commitment to delivering high-quality organic campaigns on Spotify remains unwavering. Our practices align strictly with both our core values and Spotify's terms of service, as we steer clear of bots and any forms of fake engagement. Instead, we employ programmatic native ads to present your Spotify profile to users who share interests with similar artists or genres, akin to encountering ads for computers following an online search.

Utilizing our proprietary system, we target users based on their interests and search history. To delve deeper into the concept of programmatic native ads, you can explore the following resources:

https://www.thundertech.com/blog-news/june-2020/native-advertising-vs-programmatic-advertising-in-2020
https://blog.taboola.com/what-is-programmatic-native-advertising/

Additionally, we've gathered more insights on the strikes, and you may find valuable discussions on the following Reddit threads:

https://www.reddit.com/r/musicmarketing/comments/18hvdjh/distrokid_taking_advantage_of_spotifys_new_fake/
https://www.reddit.com/r/musicmarketing/comments/18mwh3i/got_a_warning_saying_spotify_will_remove_your/

It appears that certain musicians have raised concerns about distributors potentially taking advantage of Spotify's new features, as highlighted in these threads. The sentiments expressed reflect dissatisfaction, with some likening the situation to questionable practices. The threads offer a deeper exploration into the specifics, capturing various perspectives and experiences.

As we navigate through this issue, we encourage you to take your time to review the information. Feel free to reach out to our customer service channels if you have any questions or require specific clarifications. We value your understanding and look forward to addressing any concerns you may have.

Hi Shannan,

Thanks for your feedback.

Please note that our service operates gradually throughout the month with 100% organic engagement. Therefore, it takes time for the results to be updated, which is why you may see the numbers increase over a few days. We recommend allowing about 21 days of promotion for a more accurate perspective of the results.

If after 21 days the results are lower than expected, we recommend contacting us so we can instruct our team to thoroughly review your advertisements and make any necessary corrections to ensure that you receive the results you paid for.

If you'd still like to get a refund, please contact us and we will assist you promptly.

Hi Sundarri,

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience you've experienced, and we appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. Allow us to explain how our services operate.

Our approach involves utilizing Native Ads, a concept similar to when you search for a product, and related ads start appearing everywhere. In our case, users seeking artists or genres encounter our ad campaigns. For a detailed understanding, we recommend checking out two informative articles:

https://blog.taboola.com/what-is-programmatic-native-advertising/
https://www.thundertech.com/blog-news/june-2020/native-advertising-vs-programmatic-advertising-in-2020

It's important to note that any website employing programmatic native ads may display your profile to users, with ads tailored to their interests and past searches. We want to assure you that we strictly adhere to ethical practices and do not employ bots or fake engagements. Our campaigns are built on a blend of native advertising, targeted blog outreach, and track distribution to playlist curators, all aligned with the chosen campaign strategy.

We understand the gravity of the situation and are committed to resolving it. If you have any further questions or would like to discuss the matter, please reach out to us at your earliest convenience.

Do Not Get Involved

I used Musicvertising in good faith - I have two strikes against my Distrokid accound via Spotify and I have also had all content removed and royalties lost on my Sound On account. Do not do this and pay the price like I did. There reply is nonsense I have recently had a track removed from Spotify for bots. Only marketing company I used is Musicvertising. Once Spotify clock it you have to take a number of humiliating tests on Distrokid and watch some stupid video of a bloke telling you that there are no genuine marketing methods aside from Spotify. Seriously do not do this to yourself.

Hello,

We are very sorry that this happened, but we will explain how our services work.

We use Native Ads, like when you are looking for a computer and suddenly there are computer ads all around you? It is pretty similar. But instead of looking for a product, people look for artists or genres, and that's when they'll see the ad campaign. I've got two good articles that explain deeply how it'll work. Check them out here:
https://blog.taboola.com/what-is-programmatic-native-advertising/

If you need additional information about how it works, you can find it here:
https://www.thundertech.com/blog-news/june-2020/native-advertising-vs-programmatic-advertising-in-2020

Any website that uses programmatic native ads can be showing your profile to users, but the ads are shown accordingly to the users' interests and their previous searches.

So, we don’t ever send bots or any type of fake engagement. It is totally against our values. All campaigns are based on a combination of native advertising, targeted blog outreach, and track distribution to playlist curators, according to the chosen campaign.

Regarding Sound On, we don´t promote this service, only Spotify and Youtube.

Hope we clarified the situation, if you would like you can get in touch with us so we can discuss the matter ;)

I am appalled by this company

I am appalled by this company - they are charging me twice a month 49$ - I have NO IDEA WHY? I cannot log into cancel - it’s says my email is recognised then I NEVER receive a forgotten password link and they continue to take cash out one day after the other and the only song this might possibly be for has only 10 streams so I am flabbergasted as to what they have me signed up for?!! I do not recall singing up for it - I have no emails regarding an agreement no log in but they keep taking my money. They don’t respond to customer services mails and on WhatsApp they say they’ve not done anything. - no help - they don’t give a crap that they are taking money without any authorisation. DO NOT DO ANYTHING WITH THIS COMPANY it’s is a scam and no one is lying in these reviews - it’s happened to me too! It is appalling and immoral trying to make money out of artists.

Musicvertising is a scam

I had been flagged by Spotify after a few months with Musicvertising. They outright deny any wrong doing, only refunded me less than 50% of my monthly fee (not the whole thing like they said they would) plus they're claiming I was "satisfied" because 30 days initially had passed without complaint. This is worse since it takes a while for Spotify to identify this happening, and imagine hundreds of thousands of musicians doing this same thing. Musicvertising is rich and we lost our "fake engagement" royalties AND hard earned money.

I will be looking into a legal remedy soon, since it appears they're an all around scam agency.

Generates FAKE listeners (documented).

The company claims to provide organic, real listeners, but it does NOT. Whatever system they use, whether bad ad service or straight up bots, it's not real and won't help you grow an audience.

I watched REAL TIME as my live listeners went from 5, to over 1,000, then back to 5 in the span of 2 MINUTES and I have the screenshots to prove it. Every time they did a "campaign" it looked like this. An instant spike of listeners, then completely disappears.

I canceled my service after seeing this and requested a refund. Will challenge the charge if they don't follow through. Long story short, they're PROVEN frauds and you shouldn't use this at all. Ever!

After using musicvertising .Yesterday I was contacted by my distribution company with this message …. Hello,

Owen from LANDR here.

It has been brought to our attention that releases from this account have been flagged for artificial streaming patterns. In particular, the streaming activity flagged in this case was observed with your content on Spotify in recent months.

Releases from this account are currently under investigation and may be taken down, depending on the outcome of this investigation.

Seriously do not use musicvertising unless you wanna risk having your music taken off Spotify

I even noticed myself after launching a campaign how strange the streaming patterns were and I contacted them with pictures showing it , and asked them to explain but they just danced around it

Hi Kaelon,

Thank you for sharing your insights, and we genuinely appreciate your openness about the challenges you've encountered. We understand the nuances of the music streaming landscape and the critical role consistent promotion plays in maintaining visibility.

In the dynamic algorithms that drive these platforms, a slowdown in promotional activities can sometimes be misinterpreted as waning interest. This, in turn, may impact the algorithm's decision to prioritize other artists, even if their relevance might be different.

We acknowledge that building a robust and lasting fanbase requires not only talent but also a sustained effort over time. While the music industry has evolved, the essence of patience and persistent promotion remains a cornerstone.

Hi Lawrence,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We genuinely value your input and would like to address your concerns.

First and foremost, we want to emphasize our commitment to delivering authentic and compliant campaigns that adhere to Spotify's terms of service. Our team operates with the utmost transparency, refraining from any use of bots or fake engagement. Instead, we employ a specialized advertising technique called native ads. These ads harness the power of the Spotify Play button to promote your songs, ensuring that individuals can listen to the tracks we are promoting. Our campaigns leverage advanced automation technology to precisely target audiences based on factors such as browsing history, audience interests, similar artists, and genres.

Regarding the fluctuation in your listen count, it's important to understand that maintaining consistent promotion is essential to fostering a strong and engaged fanbase. Spotify's algorithm responds to user interactions, and when your activity slows, it may interpret this as reduced interest in your work, potentially shifting its focus to other artists. Therefore, it's crucial to remain consistent in promoting your music to continuously reach new audiences and enhance your presence on the platform.

In addressing your request for a refund, we would like to clarify our refund policy. Unfortunately, we cannot provide refunds for future orders, renewals, or requests submitted beyond 30 days from the date of your initial purchase. We regret any inconvenience this may cause and hope you understand that this policy is in place to maintain fairness and consistency in our operations.

We sincerely appreciate your business and are committed to improving our services continually. Please feel free to reach out to our support team if you have any additional questions or concerns. We remain dedicated to helping you achieve your goals on Spotify and look forward to the opportunity to assist you further.

Nothing here is organic. I've tried to contact them a lot of times asking for information regarding how they were operating, and they were just stalling me till the next payment. I got from 3k subs to 300 on the day I've canceled the service.

Dear Heitor,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. We're really sorry to hear that you're feeling frustrated with your experience, and we want to address the issues you've raised.

Our primary goal is to help artists like you grow organically on platforms like Spotify, while adhering strictly to their terms of service. We never employ bots or engage in any practices that could jeopardize the integrity of your music profile. Instead, we utilize native ads, a legitimate advertising method, to connect your music with potential listeners who might be interested based on their preferences and online habits.

We understand that you've experienced a decrease in subscribers after canceling, and we're sorry for the disappointment this has caused. It's important to recognize that although our efforts can introduce your music to new listeners, achieving enduring success on Spotify requires maintaining a continuous presence. The platform's algorithm may recognize and favor content that is interactive and captivating, underlining the significance of consistent engagement and ongoing promotion of your profile. Stay positive and keep creating your fantastic music. Remember, the saying goes that Rome wasn't built in a day, and cultivating a strong fanbase takes time as well.

Now, about the communication glitches – we're genuinely sorry if you felt like we were dragging our feet. That's never our intention. We're all about being upfront and providing you with the info you need to make informed choices.

Your feedback is super important to us, and we're taking your comments on board to make our services better across the board. If you've got more concerns or questions, our support team is all ears.
