I ordered 3 family history books on 20th October using their old format which I have spent years creating. I wanted to order in good time before the projects were deleted after the change to their software. They said they were expected to be shipped at the end of last week with a promise of a pdf link to save them but no email has been received to say they have or are being dispatched and now they are not even responding to any messages sent. I’m getting very frustrated and doubtful that I’ll ever get my books. I will not be using the new site or format. I tried and hated it and could not get it to work.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Their website DOES NOT WORK. I was trying to create a family history book using data from ancestry.com (this is the only way to create a book from ancestry.com) and the site just does not work. It does not import data properly, editing tools do not work, projects are not saved like they are supposed to, it can only be customized to a point, customer service does not answer phone calls or email

Absolutely terrible with the new changes. Talked to someone twice from Ancestry and they both acted like they didn't care. I have 2 toll free numbers for My canvas and they never ever answer the phone. My problem is in creating family history posters, many profile pictures do not appear on the new charts. They always did previously. So frustrating...

The new MyCanvas family history book online software (October 2020) is awful. The options for page backgrounds, photo frames, text styles, and on and on is extremely limited. It also doesn't allow more than one project to be saved. The initial generated book linked to Ancestry produced 12 pages of contents, then 42 pages of poorly formated history book, then 200 odd pages of random photos and documents from my Ancestry site.

Add to that any previous project on the old platform is now deleted i believe the company has produced a lemon of a product.
MyCanvas is the only photo book that links directly to Ancestry,com. I hope Ancestry realise how bad their partner has become either get it fixed soon or get a new photo book partner.

Find an alternative!!!!!!! I am. Here's why.

First, their new program (online since Oct. 1, 2020) for doing genealogy albums and family tree posters is horrendous!!!!!!!!! It is very user UNFRIENDLY. Good luck if you try it.

Second, they switched to this new online program after their old software was discontinued due to the phase out of Adobe Flash.

And, third when Adobe Flash was dead and their old software discontinued at end of Oct. 2020, anything you had created in MyCanvas was gone!! LOST!! Inaccessible for ever!!!!!!!!!! (Unless you bought a printed copy and got a PDF file copy.)

And even if you got a PDF copy of your prior creations, there is no way in their new software to load up your old PDF project and keep working on it.

How stupid is this?

How could a company impose a bigger dis-service to their customers who had been working on a project for months, if not years???

And, be forewarned, MyCanvas also did this to their customers back in 2014.

If you create something with this company, good luck.

I recommend finding an alternative.

The "new" my canvas software for creating family books is TERRIBLE!! First, can't even start a project in Safari - it thinks you are google chrome and wants you to update to allow flash! Not even in Google Chrome! Next, if you try and sign in through Ancestry it doesn't work. Try and create a new account, it doesn't work. The prior software was pretty bad and extremely cumbersome to work with. Can't even get into the new software package. Extremely inept programmers.

I bought 2 copies of a product this summer. i have now been told i must buy the product again to release the portable pdf which is needed to avoid all the work being lost, due to Flash no longer being supported by mycanvas.
There are months of work in the product which will be lost unless I purchase it again, unnecessarily. Very unfair treatment of a paying customer.

I did my family tree on Ancestry.com. Found a lot of information and needed a way to compile everything. So I decided to take a chance on MyCanvas.
I received the finished product today. I LOVE IT. It is so nice, I can’t put it down. Had to write a review. Very nice. I can’t wait to get my family over to see it. I’m very pleased.

I just received our latest photo book and it was the worst book ever.
The photos in the book were gray and dingy looking and the paper was really bad. The color in the photos are terrible or none existent.

We previously had 4 books done and they were really nice but the latest one was so bad I can't even look at it without getting upset.
I actually through it in the garbage.
They used to be excellent before they started using this awful looking paper.
I will never use them again.

I have had nothing but trouble with the quality of these canvasses (and I did have others om other companies to compare) as well as their so-called customer service - they must be totally under staffed. By e-mail they never seem to answer and by phone it's very hard to get hold of them and then you get cut off! VERY frustrated. Price not worth the hassle.

Job very well done. I'd definitely contact again!

Excellent company, with high standard canvas. Picture was done beautifully at great prices. I would highly recommend this
