Worst Experience Ever
Worst experience ever.
Extremely disappointing and stressful experience.
I gave my car in for servicing and told the staff that I had engine oil in the car. I asked whether they could use my own oil, and they said no, which was fine. Before leaving the car with them, I checked the engine oil cap three times to make sure it was fully closed and would not leak or spill.
Later, they called me saying the oil had spilled all over the passenger floor and mat. I explained repeatedly that the lid was fully closed and that I had personally checked it multiple times, but they kept insisting “the lid was open.” I do not accept this. I would never intentionally leave oil open in my own car or damage my own vehicle.
What makes this even worse is that when I asked how someone could drive the car and not notice oil spilling on the passenger floor, I was told their staff “don’t look at the passenger seat.” When I asked how they did not hear it falling or smell the oil, they said they “do not smell.” It honestly baffles me how something could fall and spill next to someone during a test drive without them noticing any sound, smell, or movement.
When I picked up the car, they only mentioned the passenger side. After I got home, I checked properly and realised the oil had also gone all over the back seat mats and floor. They never told me about this.
I have now lost oil that cost me around $100, and I will likely have to pay another $300-$400 to professionally clean the car. On top of this, I have been trying to contact them by phone, but they never pick up. The phone message says they are busy and cannot take the call, asks me to leave a message, and despite leaving messages, I have never received a call back.
This is completely unacceptable. When I handed over my car, it was not in this condition, and I expected to receive it back at least the same way I dropped it off. Instead, I have been left with damage, extra cleaning costs, no proper accountability, and no response to my calls.
Overall, this was a terrible experience. I would never visit any Mycar branch again. I am requesting compensation in some form, as this situation is not acceptable.
If not, I will proceed to lodging a complain with ACCC. I believe this may be a breach of my rights under Australian Consumer Law, particularly the consumer guarantee that services must be carried out with due care and skill. My vehicle was handed over without oil spilled through the interior, and it was returned to me in a damaged and unclean condition, where no place is even accepting it to clean. This was also done with no proper accountability or follow-up.

My car was forgotten
Unfortunately I didn’t have a good experience. This was my first time using MyCar and was expecting a great experience! However when I dropped my car off at 10am Friday I was told I will receive a call when it’s done that day which was fine!! It gets to 5pm and I then decided to call Mycar Chermside to see how my car’s going. I ring and then I was advised they forgot about my car and told me to reschedule - expecting me to pick to find a lift there to pick my car up on a Friday evening when I had plans to leave that night to have a weekend away up the coast. When they told me I would have to reschedule I politely said “No, can my car stay there overnight and it can get done tomorrow (Saturday)”, he then was unsure and said I’ll have to make it work expressing it was an inconvenience however this was an inconvenience to me. It takes effort to sort out a lift there and back along with working and planning to go away that weekend. Also, what happened if I didn’t call them as they were closing in 30 mins, I would not of heard from them! Don’t accept bookings if you can’t get them all done. Thank you
