Excellent

Got my front two tyres replaced and a wheel alignment. Service was impeccable and friendly as well as efficient despite being understaffed that day. Definitely will go back again.

Service time "windows" on your website would change your customers' experience

My recent experience at the Reservoir branch highlights why mycar Tyre & Auto needs to 1) update its booking website and 2) reconsider its pricing. I say this as someone who has been a customer at Hartwell since you took over from KMart Tyre and Auto, and who has also formerly used your Doncaster branch before becoming a Reservoir customer in 2023.

In Sep I booked a service for Saturday 12 Oct. I was happy to have my car at your premises at opening time (8am) if I could retrieve the car at 10.30am. I would have booked a different date had this not been possible. There were no timeslot menus (which I am recommending you amend) and so I took the opportunity of using the notes section to highlight that I needed the car back at 10.30am. The booking was accepted and, a little to my surprise, immediately took payment (i.e. weeks in advance of the service). I later received a promotion from Linkt that would have given me $100 off. Recognising that that ship had sailed, I thought oh well, next time. I duly arrived at 8am and waited with 2 other customers for the store to open. As the other 2 booked in, I heard the staff member say '3.30pm pick up'. When I handed my keys over, I asked whether the car could be ready by 10.30am as per my booking notes. Advised they need till 3.30 or a 'half a day minimum', I explained that I have previously phoned to book (so that I could discuss my time constraints) and that that had not gone well on previous drop-offs, hence I tried using the website this time, thinking that the system would reject my request if the timeframe was not sufficient.

I was told they "would try" and was asked what was the latest time I could do. We agreed on 11am, which was going to put me under time pressure but I appreciated the effort.

I was then told "the boys don't start till 8.30am" - something I did not know. I was concerned that even 11am might not prove feasible, which would be problematic given my commitments.

Later the store phoned, recommending a wheel alignment and new windscreen wiper blades. I asked if this could be done in time and was advised again that they "would try". I'm working reduced hours with a significant reduction in income (I didn't mention this as it was not something I felt was pertinent to the conversation) but queried whether I hadn't in fact had a wheel alignment at the previous February service? It was evidently not on the records and so, as I was advised it was needed, I bit my bottom lip and said yes to the outlay for this and windscreen wiper blades.

When I returned at 11am the person who had called me about the wheel alignment/wiper blades was on the phone to a customer (I recognised his voice). He offered the customer a wheel alignment at $10 less than I was quoted on the phone - as well as a discount for another item. Notably, the customer was also encouraged to obtain new wiper blades too.

When paying for my alignment/blades, I asked if I could have the same alignment price. Initially, the staff member replied that the price 'has gone up recently'. I called this out! He'd "spent a lot of money on his car and is a loyal customer".
The staff member was unfailingly polite and was in no way rude to me - but you can appreciate that, as someone who has been your customer since you took over the business from your predecessors, I found the "loyal customer" argument somewhat galling. I did consider sexism a potential factor but, if I'm incorrect about that, it was at the very least inaccurate for the male customer on the phone to be considered 'more' loyal than I was.

I pointed out the longevity of my custom; the staff member said the records only showed my (one) visit as a Doncaster customer (as well as my more recent bookings at the Reservoir store). At this point, recognising your website did not contain my full customer history (I haven't changed vehicles since being a customer of the wonderful Charles at Hartwell), it felt like my honesty was being questioned. I highlighted the coincidental nature of someone else needing a wheel alignment and windscreen wiper blades and was asked "Do you think I am ripping you off?" I responded by asking for the same pricing and was told "the paperwork is already done" and "I would have to ask my manager".

It was now after 11am and I would ordinarily have said not to worry for $10, but my finances (and the inequality of treatment) were factors in my suggesting he ask his manager. The change was politely made with no further questions, albeit I had to pay in full and then have a $10 refund.

Did I end up with the same pricing as the other customer? Yes. Did I have my car serviced earlier than 3.30pm? Yes. Did I leave feeling like I'd had a positive experience? No.

This could be easily fixed by amending your website to have service "windows" and not treating customers like banks, where some customers get better rates than others.

Tom changed our tyre for us and he was…

Tom from mycar Reservoir changed our tyre for us and he was really helpful and friendly and went the extra mile for our request if he could check the other 3 tyres pressure and the pressure of the spare tyre underneath the car as well.

Tom was very thorough in taking out the punctured tyre from the steel rims and was also meticulous in preparing for the new tyre to be fitted onto our car. Tom showed us the rubber powder that was left in the punctured tyre.

Tom also physically examined the tread of the other 3 tyres and advised us when those tyres would probably need changing.

We are grateful for all of Tom's work.
