We had a blow out on the M40 yesterday and found it very stressful with the traffic so close even though we had moved away from the car. We called the AA and while waiting two traffic officers(9433-C... See more

Dreadful management of our road…
Dreadful management of our road network. M1/M25
Long stretches of motorway roads where cones line a lane and 40 limit. As it’s holiday season there is no sign of roadworks- yet the signs remain.
Numerous speed limits( 40, 50) for no apparent reason. The sign itself causes the queue.
Signs ‘reporting obstruction’. Traffic then queues - no obstruction in sight!!!
I could go on but still queuing as my wife tries to drive on!
Highways officers a credit to the force
The police officers who rescued me after my car tyre blew out during rush hour on the A1 Motorway, junction 76 southbound, on Wednesday 27th November were excellent. I didn’t catch their names, they were so helpful, and I’m hoping they read this, my car is a white Audi A3. The highways officer was travelling in the opposite direction and turned around to help me. They coned off the road so I could get the car to safety while I waited for recovery. The officers are a credit to the force
Special mention to Mark Taylor and…
Special mention to Mark Taylor and Debbie Lowther, they pulled up alongside my husband this evening who had broken down with a major fault and was travelling with our 2 young (quite scared) children, these two went out of their way to provide help and support, called a recovery truck out (which was there in 5 minutes) and stayed with them to ensure the most precious things in the world to me were safe, all with a very positive attitude and friendly faces. Thank you so much!
Tyre blow out National Highways helped make me safe
Tyre blow out on M62 between Castleford and Leeds at 14:40, dragged my elderly Dad out of the car and over barrier, was very frightened. Kirsty badge 8543(I think) appeared and calmed me down, took control as I couldn't think straight. AA also passing helped change tyre. Can't thank Kirsty enough.
Really helpful
Trying to report an incorrectly located and very misleading direction sign after roadworks on the M2, KCC Highways were no help at all. But when I rang National Highways they were excellent - listened and promised to get the issue sorted out. Thank you George!
Brilliant Service From Tony Christie Badge number 6295
My wife and I went down to see our daughter and our beautiful granddaughter in Manchester.
We were travelling on the M60 when our car broke down in the middle of the M60 bridge and had to pull over between the bridge railings and the inside lane, as there were no hard shoulder.
Called the Highways Agency and Tony Christie (badge number 6295) who was absolutely brilliant and put our minds at ease, and MORE importantly, ensured our safety.
A BIG THANK YOU TONY
departmental failure again
Another government department run by secondary school failures who couldn’t organise a tea party - 4 hr queue on the A27 when with correct signage could have been avoided- this department must cost the nation billions due to their incompetence not to mention the pollution aspect!
National Highways basically LIE TO THE PUBLIC
Contacted National Highways regarding the information on travel they show on their site. They state "congestion" as the cause of the travel issues on nearly all their alerts (if not all). This is purely to boost their stats and elevate their SLAs and KPIs as the congestion is a consequence of their actions, in the case of the chaos on the A14 Orwell crossing, there is no communication as to when remedial works will commence to rectify the issue, not even an acknowledgement of the issue (one lane closed due to concerns over a joint). People from outside of the are will read the alert and believe that "normal conditions will return" in a given time period about 30-45 mins. This is PURE FICTION, the tail backs get worse not better, they increase from 0700 (3-5 mins) up to 20-30 mins until the evening rush hour ends (1830hrs). THEY LIE TO YOU. I asked for feedback from them after asking about the A14 issue (they invite you to do so), and state that they will be in contact shortly, well that was 0900hrs on Monday, 3 days ago............ Why would I expect anything less from this shoddy excuse of an organisation, poor, very poor National Highways, you are a disgrace.

Bad road work management and .shame we pay way too much road tax but road works seems never finished and hardly any one working cone some time left for nothing driver slow down and waist fuel and most needed important time while travelling far. It’s been going far too long
Britain's motorways are closed on a…
Britain's motorways are closed on a nightly basis. It is now the norm. Tonight the M11, M25 and A11 were all closed. My previous journey the M4, M5 and M25 where all closed. It's quicker to ask what is open than what is closed, How can this be fair to drivers, private and commercial? This organisation is a disgrace. The roads get worse, the road closures increase and drivers suffer long diversions. Successive rebrandings show how out of touch this introverted and stupid organisation is.

After my car broke down on M25 on 22/07 and my call to RAC who were very inefficient (left me waiting from 2:15pm until 9:00pm to be towed home) and unprofessional. Thankfully Jack 2021 called my mobile every hour to check on me and even rang the RAC in the end to let them know it was unacceptable that I was left there on the M25 for so long. Thank you Jack for keeping a eye on me and for your help.
NATIONAL HIGHWAYS & DARTCHARGE INCOMPEYENT
Useless incompetent ,i complained about pathetic responce to an enquirey by dart chage when they did not seem to know what motability car was & its exempt from dart charge , i had email from national highways how did we deal with your complaint, they hadnt replied about my complaint ,, so i attempted to fill in satisfaction survey , then it said YOU HAVE ALREADY FILLED IN SURVEY ,absolute incompetence, dart charge, and national highways .
Stuck on the M27 all night long…
Stuck on the M27 all night long awaiting the RAC who never came. These guys were amazing. Mike, James, Gary & another lovely man whose name has escaped me! Not all hero's wear capes. Thank you a million times over. Lisa x

The service provided by national highways was outstanding, the way they operated was so professional, and pleasant in horrible situations where they were keeping the traffic flowing and safe guarding the road users
I appreciate their dedication and hard work and would like to say thanks for what you doing, and we are proud of you

Clowns
A total embarrassment to the roads of this County. Totally unorganised and run by a set of clowns who are tasked with keeping the roads moving but haven’t a clue.
An inconvenience?
Don't get me wrong, I was grateful for the cavalry to arrive within 5 mins of breakdown on M62 (no hard shoulder) at 2am. However, to charge me £192 to get my car to nearest service station, just 2/3rds of a mile & then abandon me to "sleep" in my car. It took me 6hrs to get my bearings & arrange for local recovery to pick me up & get me home (an hr away) at half the price.
I was not given option to find own recovery. An older single type 1 diabetic female, treat like an inconvenience.
I have since been informed I should not have been charged as no hard shoulder, but I'm not sure if this is correct?
Thank you for arriving so quickly, but please don't treat us as stupid!
Smart motorway
Guys came quickly
Really kind and helpful
Got me into a layby from smart motorway.
Really felt safe with them
Broken temporary lights at Witham A12…
Broken temporary lights at Witham A12 Junction 22, set a massive tailback towards the town. This is a posistent problem that hasn't been fixed in the 8 yrs+ they've been there, I reported this at 5.30pm to be told by the company it had been reported at MIDDAY. This is beyond a joke, especially for the volume of traffic that comes the other way, the lights arent really needed, and no doubt using our council tax to pay for it and the bloke who stays on that bridge, in his highways van in the mornings twiddling his thumbs 🤦♀️
Just spent over an hour and a half on…
Just spent over an hour and a half on the M4 traveling east. M4 closed from Jct 12 to Jct 11 the tailback back stretched many miles and when you finally get to the slip road after a 1 mile single lane you are still in a single lane to the traffic lights which only let's a maximum of 7 cars through. Something better than this should have been thought out. Quite a few cars breaking down due to the delay. Better info is needed at previous Jcts when entering the motorway Eastbound Quite a shameful experience.
The Chinese can build a city with…
The Chinese can build a city with public services in a year. Its taken highways england 10 years to add a lane to a motor way. They cost the tax payer billions and everytime I drive down the m27 there's 20 of them stood round doing nothing. It's day light robbery.
