Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Looking at 37 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Many customers expressed significant dissatisfaction with the customer service, citing unresponsiveness, ignored emails, and a general lack of support when issues arose. People frequently encountered problems with their orders, including missing products, delayed shipments, and defective items upon arrival. The quality of many products was also a concern, with reports of deodorants burning skin or being ineffective, and shampoos and conditioners leaving hair greasy or causing issues like thinning. A common complaint also revolved around faulty packaging, particularly with pumps on bottles that either wouldn't open or stopped working, making products unusable. However, some customers did find certain products, like sunscreen, to be excellent, and appreciated the pleasant scents of various items, even if their effectiveness was sometimes short-lived.

I've been a Native user for over a year…

I've been a Native user for over a year now with the subscription service. Its so nice being able to have confidence in a product so as not to have harmful ingredients. Two of my growing into teens children are now Native users as well, and I'm at peace knowing their deodorant is junk-free.

Very disappointing

I had such high hopes for this product and boy was I disappointed. I ordered the plastic free paper packaging and it is very flimsy, but the main sticking point is the actual product. I never in my life had smelly armpits even with not applying deodorant for days! This only changed since using this product. I have no idea what they put in it but it actually makes me sweat more, I never had this issue before. It's extremely pricey and I'm glad that I only ordered a couple to try. Save yourself some money and choose another natural product.

Didn’t Work? Read ON

For those of you who tried Native deodorant and it didn’t work, please read this. I tried it too and it didn’t work either. Only to find out from my daughter that it doesn’t work for a lot of people who just rub it in their underarms. After applying it, you need to lightly rub over the area with your fingertips. This helps to activate the ingredients with your body. Then it takes 2 weeks of use before it starts working. I tried it, and it DOES actually work. It is a great deodorant and works well, BUT only if applied correctly. Give that a shot. It is possible it won’t work, but more than likely it will.

Sadly doesn't work

I have been using Native deodorant for 4 months now and it's not great. It's not an antiperspirant and you have to reapply it a lot. I like the idea but doesn't really work irl.

Disappointing - it didn’t work for me & won’t be buying it again.

I had wanted to try Native from January this year and didn’t get a chance until April. As someone who has tried a fair few natural deodorants I hate to say that Native did not work for me.

And annoyingly I had bought the promo pack ( 3 pack) which meant I had to use them up before considering buying something else. I’ve been using the deodorant for the last 7-8 months as I was hopeful things would get better. I got the coconut one, lavender and citrus scents.

I will say the scents are nice and not overpowering. But unfortunately, that’s as far as it goes for me.

I found that Unless I really rubbed the deodorant into my skin it left white marks- it just doesn’t absorb onto the skin as I would have anticipated.

Also if I were to use it alone (without the aid of another deodorant brand) I’d probably only get 5 hours max out of the deodorant. I’ve had to pair it with the salt of the Earth deodorant crystal stick in order to increase the longevity And effectiveness of the native deodorant. Something I didn’t expect I’d have to do.

Needless to say, I won’t be buying it again. It may work for some but it definitely didn’t work for me. A shame as I really hoped I’d be a consistent user and buyer of the brand.

If I could give zero stars I would

If I could give zero stars I would. Maybe minus zero. When I realize it was not worth the money I canceled my subscription. I got a response from an automated email system but nothing else. They emailed me today stating that my order is being prepared. I sent them a message to cancel the order. They had already charged my card. I never heard back. Then I got a message from ups stating my order was awaiting a shipping label with tracking number and estimated delivery date. I contacted my bank today and they are doing an investigation. They know that if I dispute this with my bank Ivwill get my money back. They are a rip off. I wii be contacting my lawyer on Monday. They totally disregard my request to cancel my subscription and continue to charge my card. If a business does not have a business number do not give them your business. I see this happening a lot . No phone number to speak to someone only email or message through the website. I have learned my lesson. You are sad people. The reviews on this site that are giving five stars are paid. Don’t be fooled.

Does not last

I have been using natural deodorant for about 2 years now, so wanted to try out Native.

I was initially quite impressed as I got a really good deal with a promo code and the scents are all really nice (I ordered a pack of three, annoyingly!). These are honestly not very good, as some other reviews have stated here, the deodorant has very little lasting effect. It does prevent you smelling but I would say it only achieves that for about 6-8 hours. It also made my clothes smell almost damp at the armpit which no other natural deodorant has done, and I’ve tried about 4 different brands. My sister also had the exact same experience.

Like I said, I have used natural deodorant for a while now so there was no chance of this being a need for me to ‘detox’ or stick with it till any antiperspirant had worn off.

Personally I think this is a case of attractive marketing, investing in Instagram ads and using influencers. There are much better brands out there that I will be going back to that really do last the full day and didn’t cause any weird smells on my clothes. I wouldn’t waste your money on Native or be fooled by overly positive reviews.

best deodorant brand!!

I'm totally in love with native!! I ordered for the second time because I was so enthousiastic about my first order. The customer service is very helpful. I didn't get my package at first, so I sent the customer service of native an email and they sent me another package for free. I was really happy for how they handled the situation. The deodorant's quality is amazingly good and my armpits have gotten so much softer. Besides that, the deodorant is really easy to take with you on your way. I love it!!

No staying power

Looks great, smells great, feels great, but doesn't prevent odour long enough and my armpits end up smelling dreadful after 18 hours. And it's expensive.

This is by far the best

This is by far the best. I've been trying aluminium free deodorants for a few years now. They usually leave a semi fresh scent or wear off and loose their effectiveness.
However, Native leaves a natural fresh scent. Even my clothes smell good after a day's wear.

It works!! Great after physical work on a hot day or a leg day at the gym!! Fantastic!
Good job, Native!

The best natural deodorant that actually works

Native deodorants are by far the best natural option with no nasty chemicals, great selection of incredible scents and they actually work! I was recommended by a friend and ordered a 3 pack to share and test with a friend and few weeks on I placed a second order from their vintage scents. I will never go back to another brand again! Highly recommend it! They also make great gifts. Friends and family who tried it absolutely loves it. Delivery is fast and customer service is impeccable when contacted. I would give it 10 stars if I could!

I ordered three deodorants from native…

I ordered three deodorants from native after having used dove for most of my life. This is the absolute best deo I have found so far, and I appreciate their eco friendly approach with their paper packaging - although I will say that their plastic free deodorant packaging does have some room for improvement as it is not as convenient as with the plastic one, but I really overall highly highly recommend this product!:)

BEWARE not completely natural Caused severe rashes and poor nonexistent customer service!

I have been using Native for about 3 years and although its not antiperspirant, I didn't "smell" bad. So I was happy with it, liked using a natural deodorant. Then I started developing severe rashes which at first I didn't realize it was the deodorant, since I have been using for so long. I reached out to the company asking for a refund- or at least an exchange for some body wash. I didn't want to be stuck with three bars essentially money down the drain....they refused to refund or even exchange, saying one time per customer. I had in the past exchanged a scent (which to me smelled like bug spray). I think they changed their formula or maybe they are not completely transparent about the ingredients or else using some artificial junk in it....no reason for me to suddenly get severe rashes. So if you are a customer I guess you only get one exchange or refund in your life.....I think thats poor customer service and I will never buy from them again. They obviously don't stand behind the integrity of their product and are only about making money and don't really care about their customers.

Very happy with the purchase

I am a man and was sceptical before ordering, ordered 3 pack one and started with the first one Eucalyptus & Mint, wanted to try out deodorant with natural ingredients that is not harmful to the body. I was surprised with the results. I work in the construction industry with lot of physical activities and it did work though not as strong as the chemical ones it does last for the entire day. I shower every morning and apply it and it last for the whole day. Very happy with the purchase, will continue to buy and recommend. Initially seems very mild but gets better after a week. Also apply abundantly or thoroughly for better results.

10* costumer service - totally recommend Native

I would give 10 stars for their costumer service if I could.
A few years ago I tried Native but wasn't patient enough because the scent didn't last long on me and I smelled sweaty a few hours later. Back then I just decided natural deodorant wasn't for me and gave the deodorants to a friend who loved them.
Now during quarantine (where I can't bother anyone but myself with my pit smell) I decided to give native another chance and ordered a pack of 3 scents (coconut/vanilla, cucumber/mint and sweet peach). Coconut is probably a 3/5 for me when it comes to scent, cucumber smells super refreshing and is a 4/5 for me because I'd prefer the scent to be stronger, but sweet peach is a 5/5.
I decided to give it 4 weeks and now there's no disgusting sweat smell detectable ever! So first advice is: give it time! Native is absolutely right about that.
I used an anti bacterial shower gel every day and scrubbed my pits and that definitely helped the process.
Ok, now... Because I loved 2/3 scents so much I thought "it's fall season, they have a pumpkin spice latte deodorant, just order another box of 3 to stock up on sweet peach". Sweet peach was a seasonal scent unfortunately and I couldn't reorder it, but I ended up getting a custom scent (you take a test), 3 seasonal scents (blood orange/clove(5/5), pumpkin spice(4/5), buttercream vanilla(2/5)) and 2 other scents (grapefruit/elderflower(4/5) and yuzu/orange blossom 4/5).
Buttercream Vanilla was a gamble because I do love buttercream but the vanilla scent is too strong for me.
Now let's get to their costumer service:
I emailed native and said that I loved all scents but the vanilla one. Blood orange/clove though is my absolute favorite and I asked if I could replace vanilla for another Blood Orange deo.
I didn't even get an email response but an order confirmation a few hours later that my blood orange deo was confirmed and shortly after shipped - completely for free.
I'll give the vanilla deo to a friend who loves vanilla scents so I'm sure she'll be over the moon because the scent is certainly great if you love vanilla.
I am now stocked up on native deo but will order some of their shower gels and will keep an eye out for their new scents each season.
Thank you, native!! And I totally recommend giving them a try.

Tl;dr: native works if you give your pits some time - also "detox" your pits. Costumer service is amazing, sent out another deo of my favorite scent to replace the scent of my order that I didn't love.
