NatWest fraud keeping kids money
4 months later of trying and still can’t get this bank to pay out my sons trust fund. Seemingly 2 copies of his passport and drivers license been certified don’t count as verification that’s it’s him. The online account won’t recognise his bank details.
I can’t see how it’s easier to apply for passport than it is to give a child there money that the government gave them. When they use the excuse that they need the ID to check for money laundering!! The only thing I can see in this is NatWest bank are fraudulent keeping lots of children’s money that was put there for their future
That one star is too much
That one star is too much. Avoid like the plague. Paid 20 each month onto ctf. Just looked on the online portal despite taking 20 ddebit each month only 10 gone over to the investment. So where's the other 10 each month been going. Honestly I feel like I am talking in a foreign language trying to sort this out . It's been one thing after anothet
Child trust fund
I’ve had a really frustrating experience trying to access my Child Trust Fund with NatWest. I gained access on Monday, but things quickly became complicated with a number of delays. The next day, I visited a branch, but while they were somewhat helpful, it didn’t resolve anything major.
I then received two calls regarding the process, and the customer service was incredibly poor. The representatives overcomplicated the entire process, stating that my ID needed to be certified by someone qualified. They spoke too quickly, were not respectful, and generally showed no empathy.
To make matters worse, getting my ID certified is costing me extra money, which I know NatWest won’t be compensating. Additionally, the value of my Child Trust Fund has been depreciating due to these delays, which would not have happened had I been able to withdraw the funds sooner.
Not letting me withdraw matured child trust fund!
I phoned in to gain access to my child trust fund, they told me that both my title and address on the account were wrong. I was down as a different gender? I don’t even know how that type of mistake can happen? So then because of that, of course I failed the security questions over the phone, so I sent in a letter with my correct details and certified copies of my documents. they have since sent me 4 letters asking me to SEND THEM IN AGAIN? I phoned in and finally managed to log into the online portal. Now the website is automatically declining my bank verification (two different UK banks I used). I have had to upload photos of bank statements. Of course, no response. WHY do they not want to give me my trust fund? Both times I phoned in the reps were rude and condescending. I don’t understand why they require documents through the post either. It’s literally 2025. Emails exist.
Natwest invest
Having been a current account customer for a couple of years, I decided to start using Nat west invest for a Sipp. The setting up process was easy to do, personal details were already populated and the account was available within 48 hours.
Adding funds was as easy as transferring from the bank account and amending a direct debit was done via the investment link.
the choice of funds is limited but deliberately so as to not confuse those who have no knowledge of investing. Happy to go with that.
Fees so far are reasonable but will no doubt increase once more capital is invested.
I can't comment on interacting with staff as have only spoken to in branch staff for some general questions so may try calling soon to see how long it takes before I speak to a customer service representative.
I have heard there is an automated service which my other half tried and took around 4 minutes to get through.
Overall, so far so good for my own experience. I have read the one star comments but these appear to be older posts and I hope that Natwest have taken onboard these comments.
Absolute disgrace
Absolute disgrace. My 18yo son trying to get his money from the fund to buy a car and they ask for proof after proof of identity, then when he rang them they told him to do it all online. Then they said he need a teacher to countersign all his documents and they still sent letter after letter all with different requests in. While all of this was going he noticed he had access so he transferred the lot out of Nat West. This bank has basically destroyed an 18yo confidence of the banking system so well done for that!
SCANDAL CHILD TRUST FUND
My daughter sent multiple proofs, as required .We even phoned them and a rep told her that they have accepted her documents. Still they will not release her funds. It is now sitting there earning zero interest since last year. They are holding on to all these child trust accounts so that they (NatWest) can earn interest for themselves. She even tried to transfer her account to another bank ISA at 5.5% via proper transfer....NatWest blocked it. It is a scandal. I was fortunate as I decided not to add further investment into this account. I am hoping for a class action lawsuit to occur. One day....Who knows?
Terrible bank in every way
Terrible bank in every way. Martin Lewis reminded people to check the value of their trust funds. He said the average is £2100 so why on maturity is my daughters only worth £448 after 18 years of investments. Nat West Fleece even kids. Terrible bank. Cant wait to leave them.
I have been trying for nesrly 1 year to…
I have been trying for nesrly 1 year to recieve my sons child's trust fund. Finally they verified my address after 4 months.
Then I was given a account number and told to register on the portal.which constantly tells me ive entered the incorrect information when Its all correct. Complete scam.
I will be informing the fca.
Avoid NatWest investments
NatWest still doing everything it can to avoid transferring the funds on maturity of my child’s CTF. They did the same on maturity of my elder child some time ago. Their computer system rejects ID verification documents for no reason and the consequence is that they keep my child’s money. Do not go near to investing with NatWest. Everything about their systems is designed not to transfer the proceeds of the investment to their rightful owner.
Spoke to Brandon on the phone
Spoke to Brandon on the phone ! So lovely and helpful and so impressed with his customer service . Made the call really easy and he was so reassuring . 10/10!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Absolutely shocking
Absolutely shocking. Trying to get my daughter's child trust fund paid to her. Deliberately obstructive, answer the questions but they still say we fail security... Write in. We write in send it recorded delivery and still we can't get it. Absolutely disgusting.
Deliberately obstructive when returning money!
Deliberately obstructive when returning money! I am so glad we didn’t add money to this shambolic excuse for an investment. We, like many, many others have been given every possible hurdle to jump just to get back what is owed from the trust fund, right down to customers service simply hanging up the phone for no reason at all. My daughter had to pay a solicitor to verify who she was, despite sending them a full driving license , valid passport and already having 2 x NAFWEST accounts already!!!!!!! (Deliberate spelling mistake) I am taking our complaint to FCA and would recommend that others in the same situation do so as well.
Shambolic
Tried 5 times to register for the online portal. All info was correct but the process failed at various stages. Now it won't even send a code to my email address. A catastrophe of a system. Who specified it? Who implemented it? Who tested it? Who approved it?
Absolutely shambolic.
Child trust fund
I’ve been trying to receive my funds since October 2023 I’ve done every single thing they have asked me to do! They had my name down wrong but I had to correct them it took them multiple phone calls in to finally tell me my account had a block on it in which I rectified. I moved to a new address and corrected my ID so it matched with my address and bank statements I sent in letters and my birth certificate like I was told they sent it back changing my name to something completely different saying my birth certificate wasn’t clear in the copy but it was as clear as day. I’ve been running around in circles and chasing them for months but dealing with the same thing I’ve complained so many times, my last thing was to send in a bank statement, I did exactly that and they told me they couldn’t release the funds because the bank statement was a screenshot when it was actually a pdf but I sent it over again along with my withdrawal instructions as I was told to do it again and go through a different way which will let me have my money within six days. After the six days were up I called again they said they received the bank statement but not the instructions even though I sent them both together, I was told to send it again to speed it up so I did that I’ve called again 11 days later and they said they’ve received the instructions but they’re blank. And now they’re telling me to do it again. I have been dealing with this for months literally chasing them for my funds and it’s a joke.
Been trying to remove my child trust…
Been trying to remove my child trust fund for weeks now sent all documents was told over phone all verified and will be in my account today check account and nothing went back on phone and keep being told I've failed security question which I answer every time now getting told I've to be send a form to sign this is disgusting how they treat people's money and I would urge anyone to stay well away from natwest ctf
The website is extremely poor
The website is extremely poor, logs you out even with the right passwords. The reset password system is hit and miss and does not work. Whoever manages this website for Natwest is doing this organisation a great disservice. I only use Natwest as I have a CTF which I need to keep an eye on. I would not go near this bank for any services based on my experiences so far. Seriously needs a zero star but that tick box is not available.
Dreadful to deal with and dreadful performance
Investment is the lowest performing in 9 I have - indeed all it did was go down, and final insult is on the day of selling I got £800 less than the price on the app on the day so where that money is I have no idea. If you raise a complaint you firstly get someone else's complaint letter, then once corrected they say can't do anything as its not their product (sold by them and sits at their brand on their app??). Overall untrustworthy, dishonest and highly questionable performance.
Lucky Nigel, his account was closed…
I was asked to get driving licence and passport verified at either the post office or a branch of NatWest to get Child Trust fund repaid. The Post Office said no and the assistant at NatWest said, we don't do that in a branch, ring this number for help. I rang the phone number while in the branch and got the message "this phone number is no longer in use". Nigel Farrage was dead lucky they closed hi account!!
Should be illegal
Appalling. A dreadful experience trying to get your money out. Constantly requesting more evidence which they then “don’t like”... for whatever reason they pull out a hat.
