We used Ms R Sweeney from the conveyancing department on this occasion having previously instructed colleagues. She is a very informed professional with a good eye for detail. We would not hesitate to recommend.
Quite disorganised
Unfortunately, I am quite disappointed with the service received from Nero Legal. I emailed and called several times in advance of my mortgage decision to ask if I needed to provide anything additional and I was told nothing was required. Two days before my closing date I was asked for a variety of different documents that needed to be signed by another solicitor which meant I needed to take time off work to get them in time. This also created lots of panic and uncertainty around whether my closing date would be maintained. I was not advised that I needed to draw down my Help to Buy ISA up to 30 days in advance and this led to issues with my bank. Although communication is relatively prompt, the disorganisation meant I had to take two unplanned half days off work to gather documentation within very close proximity to my agreed closing date. In addition, I was not provided with the correct keys and had to go get them off an estate agent myself. It was horrible to arrive at my newly purchased flat as a first-time buyer only to find myself unable to get in. Unfortunately, I would not recommend.
fast, efficient service
Cheryl, Karen and the team dealt with our re-mortgage very thoroughly and efficiently and were always very quick at responding to queries. First class - Thank you!
Professional and friendly service
I dealt with Karen and Rachael at Nero Legal and both were super helpful and always willing to answer my questions. As a first time buyer I had many! Particularly as I'm English and not used to Scottish property law.
Thanks for all your help, I'm very happy in my new flat.
Extra fees on top of initial quote
I contacted Nero Legal to act for me in buying a flat. I spoke to them on the phone to check that their quote wouldn't have any extras added, but then when I received the paperwork it turned out that there would be lots of extra fees. I contacted them again and this time they confirmed the extra fees. When I complained they then said that I wasn't entitled to complain because I wasn't a customer, despite me having a customer account number by this point. I went elsewhere as they were going to work out really expensive, and they wasted a week by having lied about the extra fees.
It is ridiculous that they are now trying to get my review removed more than 2 years after it was posted. If they don't think that I was a customer then why did they give me a customer account number at the time (which I no longer have a record of because my review was over 2 years ago!), and why did they think that they could then send me marketing emails which they could only attempt to justify by claiming that I had a customer relationship with them?
If my review is removed then I will take both Trustpilot and Nero Legal to the Advertising Standards Authority for treating negative reviews differently to positive reviews which is a recognised form of misleading advertising.
Happy house purchase

Excellent service. Prompt and professional service. Very helpful at explaining legal terms and keeping client informed. Very responsive . Would highly recommend Nero Legal.
Thank you for a very professional service
Nero Legal provided first class legal services and as such I was able to move into my new property last week. Any time I phoned or emailed my query was answered promptly. The conveyancer who assisted in purchasing my new home had a great attitude and in particular her calm demeanor helped me cope with the anxiety I was under due to delays from the lender. It was greatly appreciated and I would definitely recommend Nero Legal and use them again in the future.

Not as cheap as expected and communication is very bad
Not a good experience by the end.
You get what seems like a cheap quote, but the end bill will be significantly higher with various added costs which makes this firm more expensive than other firms out there. It's worth paying a bit more on the initial fee with another company than being happy with what appears to be the low-cost fee from Nero. I should state all the fees are detailed in the terms of business so I should have spent time to calculate which ones would apply to myself and not go by the quote.
Unfortunately the paralegals they used also are not great with responding, many times I had to follow-up with phone calls to clarify points as they were not clearly explained or I received no response to emails at all.
Overall the process completed successfully, however I would use a different firm in the future.
Good service
Nice people to deal with. Quick service, always keeping you updated.
Family Law
Family Law
During the first covid-19 lockdown my solicitor was made redundant which left me no legal representation for my divorce. This left me very anxious as I was at the stage all was left was to file the papers to the court.
After filling out online application for solicitors, Nero legal got back to me the following day.
I explained my situation and they were more than happy to pick up from my previous solicitor. Explained what would need to be done to get my files sent to them, and me gave a clear breakdown cost of divorce. Once agreed Nero to represent me I paid just under 50% deposit of what I was quoted.
Communication was great, I was kept up to date with progress. Any witness signing of forms was done via facetime during second lockdown allowing the process to continue.
Once divorce was finalised I received an email to inform me it was complete and what to expect next. Last invoice for final payment was for the rest of initial quote. No Hidden charges.
Overall great experience, was very pleased with communication, all done in a timely manner and the price was the same as an average divorce. Would highly recommend Nero Legal.
Additional fees addddddddd up!
Please please please understand that the cheap quote you get from HBC conveyancing is not what nero legal are going to end up charging you. If you do go with them please read their terms of business clearly.
Firstly being quoted roughly 700 for the legal fees of a house sale and purchase total seems appealing but what are those legal fees covering you need to ask yourself? because it doesnt cover any of the work they do for your disbursements like land registry of Scotland. For instance £20 to file advanced notice is the governement fee but they will charge over 50 for completig and submitting it (not covered in your initial legal fees)
Secondly they charge you for dealing with your mortgage provider. Yes great if you are santander when its free but god forbid you were barclays like myself it will be an additional £600
Then they charge you on top if your house is a new build. £120 for the new build/plot but then an additional £120 as you are buying for a company. I thought this was the same thing??? i was told nope, new builds can be bought personally not from companies. who knew. Again not covered in their legal fee quote.
Charged seperately for filing with the land registry, over 100 again not included in the quote.
Luckily when i came to my senses , i changed before any signed missives and used a local conveyancer. yes the legal fee quote was double the intial £300 odd but that includes all the charges ive mentioned that they charge on top!
I urge you if you want to use them, fair enough, but only commit after reading their terms of business carefully and understanding the charges you are going to have. I have saved over £1000 going local.
Lastly, every time they phoned it was to confirm fees usually, then why i question fees, i felt i received a poorly worded response, obviously they disagree and it is a personal opinion.
Overall, please get as many quotes as you can, but you need to delve deeper into their quote! cause what they quote isnt anywhere near what you will pay.
