I've just had a Harveys water softener supplied and fitted from North East water softeners. Chelsea came out to assess which unit I needed and Connan came out and fitted the unit. He explained to me how it worked and helped me to set up the app, so I could track the softener on my phone. Both vey helpful and informative and I would recommend.

I ordered a water filter cartridge from newwatersofteners.co.uk and unfortunately the product did not fit my water filter at all. I’ll admit I was late in reporting the issue because I had a lot going on in my life at the time, but when I finally contacted them, the support I received was extremely unhelpful.

They asked me for measurements, which I provided, but after that they simply told me there was nothing they could do because I should have raised the issue earlier. They also claimed the cartridges were bought directly from Harvey’s. When I contacted Harvey’s myself, they told me they were not aware of this company.

I have since bought a cartridge directly from Harvey’s, and it fits perfectly, which makes me seriously question the quality and authenticity of the one I received from newwatersofteners.co.uk. I ended up wasting around £80 on a product that was completely unusable for me.

This was a frustrating experience from start to finish, and based on my personal experience, I would not order from this site again.

We recently bought a Harvey TwinTec S4 and installation kit from North East Water Softeners. Not only did they offer the best prices, the most complete installation kit, and very fast delivery, but their customer service was also excellent. They answer the phone and emails quickly, and call back when they say they will, which is not always a given these days.

We had some questions up front & they couldn't have been more helpful, which was very reassuring. We also had some problems with the softener after installation and they immediately sent a replacement for the next day, collecting the first one at the same time. Communication was excellent throughout.

We are very happy with our experience and would use North East Water Softeners again.

​I strongly advise against using this company. My experience was an absolute disaster that required escalation to a finance claim.

​The engineer's installation was fundamentally faulty, causing an immediate leak and water damage to my new cupboard and flooring. The service was incomplete (missing parts, tap not installed), and the engineer made unauthorised changes to my plumbing, including putting the outside tap on soft water without consultation. Their own parent company's expert later confirmed the original fitter's claims were false and the work was avoidable.

​Due to their lack of professionalism and misinformation, I was forced to file a claim under the Consumer Credit Act and experienced significant stress, anxiety, and incurred costs for medical supplements. Save yourself the stress and expense and avoid this provider.

FINAL UPDATE: CASE CLOSED (Victory for the Consumer)

Following a 10-week dispute, this matter has now been resolved entirely in my favor.

1. Section 75 Claim Approved Novuna Personal Finance formally approved my claim under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974. This resulted in the 100% cancellation and refund of the credit agreement. Novuna's Final Resolution Letter explicitly states: "I agree that we didn't act correctly in this instance".

2. Compensation Paid Harvey Water Softeners (the manufacturer) has paid me £300.00 in additional compensation. This covers the cost of remedial plumbing repairs (£129) and a goodwill gesture for the severe stress and inconvenience caused by their dealer's negligence.

3. Fact-Check of North East Water Softeners' Defense

The "Defamation" Claim: The supplier attempted to have my review removed, claiming it was defamatory. Trustpilot's integrity team reviewed my evidence (photos of leaks, corporate admissions of poor quality) and reinstated the review.

The "Tampering" Accusation: The dealer publicly accused me of tampering with the unit. The manufacturer’s own Field Manager subsequently admitted the installation was "poor and avoidable" and "not carried out to the required standard."

The "Specification" Excuse: The manufacturer tried to claim it was just a "specification" issue. Novuna's approval of the Section 75 claim proves it was a fundamental breach of the Consumer Rights Act regarding reasonable care and skill.

Summary: The dealer’s refusal to act professionally led to a total contract cancellation and forced compensation. I have since switched to a competitor (Kinetico) whose installation was seamless and professional. Avoid this installer at all costs.

We had an old water softener fail and a quote for a new one from the previous supplier was a rude awakening, being more than double what it had been 5 years previously. All the pipework was there and I was convinced I could find a new machine that would just Plug and play to the existing connections. However, lots of wasted time on the internet led me to no real conclusion as it could be an expensive risk. I decided to email North East Water Softeners and received a call back in 5 minutes! Not a pushy sales call, but a really helpful call outlining my options and what they could guarantee would fit. They even sent me installation instructions as well as a quick run through on how to commission the new unit. I was so impressed I ordered the new machine an hour or so later. Arrived yesterday and Installation was a breeze, all done with 2 regen cycles in under an hour and I saved well over £600 along with getting a better machine than i was quoted for. I couldn't be happier to recommend North East Water Softeners and wish all "on-Line" companies were this proactive, friendly and helpful. Top Marks N.E.W.S.....I should be back for a reverse Osmosis Filter next! Thanks for all your help, really appreciate it.

The customer service is very good and helpful to respond my queries. The softener is running in good shape and water stain have been reduced significantly.
