Explanation needed
That's a wonderful explanation that I hadn't found before! If that's what it says in the contract conclusion declarations, maybe it shouldn't just be in English. To be fair, I would like to emphasize that after the cancellation I received the money back immediately.

It's a scam. There will not be anything available to you unless you upgrade to the more expensive version. Don't waste your money.

Free Trial SCAM
I was told when I signed up for the free trial that I would be paying monthly after. Lo and behold, they just charged me for 6 months upfront. I did not agree to that.

newspaper.com genealogy scam
anc newspaper.com -- an online newspaper archives database for genealogical research -- charged my bank account $74.90 without my authorization. I have never been a subscriber to newspaper.com nor its affiliated parent ancestry.com. Nor did I sign up for a "free trial." I don't know how newspaper.com accessed my info, and discovered the charge while looking for another transaction. I've seen similar complaints about newspapers.com on other web sites, so their scam may be widespread.

Horribly run business
I signed up for the loser cost subscription. I attempted to read an article, but had to jump up to the expensive subscription, so I did. This took place over a matter of 5 minutes. Newspapers.com charged me for both subscriptions, which I found out later. I searched for a phone number, and this "business" doesn't even have a customer service phone number. Horrible business practice. I submitted a message through support and also cancelled the subscription. I am beyond disgusted by this so-called business. I want my money back - the email confirmation stated it will be refunded in a few days, I'm still waiting.

I wish I could give them a negative 5 stars! You cannot view anything! I cannot even see my great great grandfathers obituary from 1934 without paying $59.00 for the "upgrade." They should be deeply ashamed, but they are not, so the only retaliation we have is to alert others. DO NOT SUBSCRIBE!!!! Genealogy.bank is 1000 times better and they actually have people who answer a phone to help you.

Was charged 59.99 to my card today for something I haven't subscribed too, yet even used ancestry, no need too. How do I get a live agent? This is ridiculous since I have a varo card so I add money to my card to pay a bill and can't even pay my bill now cause of some charge I didn't authorize. Will be going to BBB if this isn't resolved.

I am incredibly disappointed in the Newspaper service or rather lack thereof. After having to pay twice for the service-- once through ancestry and once to the newspapers.com itself, I cannot access the majority of article I try to open. I have tried to look at dozens of articles that appear in my hints for ancestry in the last few months and when I try to open the article , I receive this message "This page is not available". Your service is not inexpensive, and I would really like to know what I am paying for?
Nothing it seems. BTW, don't bother trying to contact them on their website. After submitting you will get a message "sorry-- your comments not received."

They give you the run around
I signed up for ancestry(4-6-22) and I cancelled on(4-8-22) but didn’t know the newspaper.com was connected too so I been trying to cancel that too but they still been taking $59.90 out my account but according to the fine print it supposedly be a one time fee but it’s not, I been calling and leaving voicemail,if you call the 1-877-519-0129 you have to leave a voicemail n I hope they call you back..

Clips sent by email cannot be read
Have been a subscriber to Ancestry for over 20 years and am an off and on again subscriber to Newspapers.com that most unfortunately is also owned by Ancestry. If you save an article to Ancestry without clipping it, the article is often to blurry to read. If it is a long obit, it is both too blurry and way too small to read. Clips I can almost always read. There is an email option in clips, but email recipients can’t read them.

Can I give a rating if “ZERO”
Can I give a rating if “ZERO”? I have been trying to cancel a subscription and can’t get any help. I sent them 4 messages and get an email stating they’ll get back to me and I won’t get service any quicker by responding g to their emails. In one of the emails, it states that I must notify them within 2 days of being charged (after trial). In their website it states to go into account and click the “cancel” button. Well guess what. There is no cancel button on my accounts:subscriptions page. Now, when I try to submit another message to them, I get a prompt if “OOPS. There’s been a problem. Fill out the form below”. IVE DONE THAT AND IT KEEPS KICKING ME OUT!!!
Beware of the inability to get in contact with them. poor customer service!!
Oh….I didn't find this website useful either, hence why I want to cancel!!!
I also just read the other reviews in this site. When they respond to the complaint and give an email in which to contact, I tried everyone of them. Contact not valid!!!

Worthless bait and switch scam
I paid for a subscription, and my subscription has netted me access to zero articles and obituaries in the twentieth century. Virtually everything is paywalled behind an additional fee in their"Publisher Extra" subscription. So, completely worthless.

Ancestry All Acess upgrade waste of time
Just upgraded my ancestry account to All Access hoping to find some obituaries in newspapers but everything seems to be behind a further Publisher Extra paywall. Really disappointed and wish I hadn’t have bothered. Feels like a scam to be honest.

According to newspapers.com I am interested in their crap articles!!! Charged me big time!!!
According to newspapers.com I am a guest through ancestry.com. But I was charged $59.60 on my credit card yesterday. That's a 6 month subscription that is listed on the site. I never ordered 6 months of this crap newspaper site. I'm pissed. Cancelling Ancestry.com over this because they are crap as well. Long story short on ancestry, they ripped me off of all the info I had on two trees. Which is BS.

Sorry I Fell For This Scam
I have signed up for Newspapers.com several times over the years to look for information pertaining to my Ancestry.com trees. The last time I signed up, almost everything I wanted to see required an additional payment. So basically, the money you pay for the membership gets you nothing. I'm so irritated with this service and also disappointed that Ancestry.com continues to post information that you can't access unless you pay for this additional membership - only to find out that you still can't access anything once you've paid.

Signed up for 7-day trial
Signed up for 7-day trial. Could not find any articles, I was searching. Kept getting message check back later. Next day I emailed asking to cancel subscription. 2 days later, I received an email stating I did not have an account. On 3/3/22 there was $74.90 debit to my bank account. Have emailed again trying to settle this issue, no response, Called Ancestry Spoke to Supervisor Jassa. She said "this is a 3rd party company. Ancestry has no control over them, no access to their record or fund. Newspaper.com does not have a phone. there is no one there. They just check messages" # I Was contacted by Lana. She discovered my email address was wrong in their records. This is why they couldn't find my information or contact me. She cancelled the subscription and refunded my $74.90. Thank you, Lana for the Great job,

Bait and Switch Scam just waiting for a Class Action Lawuit
This is a bait and switch scam. Newspaper.com and Ancestry (another ripoff scam) need to be subjected to a class action lawsuit for their extremely deceptive "All Access" claim. The fact is that Ancestry sells their "All Access" subscription, which is already at an OBSCENELY HIGH PRICE and then, when you try to access Newspaper.com, they try to bilk you for more even money. I'm not about to pay more for something that is already grossly expensive! To top it off, I have many decades of experience researching genealogical sources and the vast majority of stuff on Ancestry is USELESS, which serious researchers must now wade through endless searches just to find meaning full information (no, downloading Aunt Mable's JUNK family tree isn't worth a thing). When trying to connect to Newspaper.com, using your "All Access" account only pops up demands to pay MORE. Ancestry and Newspaper.com needs to be sued for their bait and switch tactics.
