DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY.
DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY.
I am begging anyone reading this: stay far away.
We should have checked the reviews first, but unfortunately this company was booked through Expedia. Shame on Expedia for even allowing this rental company on their platform, because our experience was exactly like so many of the other negative reviews.
We paid in full online and also purchased coverage ahead of time. When we arrived, we were still told we had to buy their insurance anyway. Then, when it came time to sign the contract, they would not let us properly review it first and refused to give us a written copy until after it was already signed.
That alone was a massive red flag.
It got worse when we returned the vehicle. We brought it back a day early because of an early morning flight, and they told us to just leave the keys in the car and go. No inspection, no receipt, no confirmation, nothing. A few days later, they sent us an “updated contract” claiming we had rented the vehicle for 6 days instead of 4 and charged our credit card for extra days without authorization. Somehow Monday to Thursday became 6 days. On top of that, our signature appeared on the updated contract.
Completely unacceptable.
Trying to contact them afterward was a waste of time because they do not answer the phone. Once they have your card information, they seem to do whatever they want.
Make sure you get written proof when returning the vehicle, because if you do not, you may end up dealing with extra charges too.
In our experience, this place operates in a deeply dishonest and predatory way. It feels like a scam targeting travelers who are out of state and need transportation. This business should not be operating this way, and Expedia should seriously reconsider allowing them on its platform.
This company will fraud your credit card and your contract!!!! Beware!!!!
I rented a car from next car through…
I rented a car from next car through Expedia. We were suppose to be picked up at 10:30 pm. My wife called the number given at 10 pm she received a text they would send a shuttle within 15 minutes. No shuttle my wife called again same message. She called Expedia they said it closes at 11. We are now stranded in Orlando 2 seniors. We got a shuttle to are place. I tried to get the car the next day not available. We have tried to get are deposit back no. Do not rent from this company. Why does Expedia represent a company like this. They deserve blame in this as well
Unbelievably Dishonest Car Rental Company in Orlando, Florida
I don’t even know where to begin with how unbelievably dishonest and frustrating this rental experience was. What started as a straightforward reservation at a reasonable rate turned into a blatant cash grab that more than doubled the agreed price by the time I returned the car.
First, the total charge bore absolutely no resemblance to the original booking. Hidden fees, unexplained surcharges, and conveniently “overlooked” terms somehow inflated the cost to more than twice what I had agreed to. There was no transparency, no clear breakdown—just a final bill that felt like it was designed to see how much they could get away with.
Then there’s the mileage issue. My reservation explicitly included free mileage, yet I was still charged as if I had exceeded some limit that was never disclosed at pickup. When I questioned it, I got vague, contradictory answers that made it clear either the staff didn’t understand their own policies or were hoping I wouldn’t push back.
The most outrageous part, though, was the insurance scam. I clearly presented valid coverage through my American Express card as well as my personal auto insurance policy—both of which are widely accepted and fully sufficient in the United States. Despite this, they still added an insurance charge without proper justification. It felt less like a misunderstanding and more like a deliberate attempt to pad the bill.
Customer service was equally disappointing—dismissive, unhelpful, and unwilling to take accountability. Instead of resolving the issues, they doubled down and treated legitimate concerns like an inconvenience.
This experience was not just poor—it was predatory. I would strongly advise anyone considering this company to read every line of their agreement, take photos of everything, and be prepared to dispute charges. Better yet, save yourself the headache and rent from a company that actually respects its customers and honors its own terms.
Reserved a car for 5pm on March 28th…
Reserved a car for 5pm on March 28th 2026. Due to lack of signage and appropriate transportation to the off site facility coupled with the transport stopping at a stop prior to our rental facility, we made it just before the ( unbeknownst to us) 1 hour time limit. Really? An off site facility requiring a 1 hour check in to offset a penalty?
I walked into the facility waiting in line for a check in by a sign that says nextcar. After a few minutes the guy tells me that the phone booth looking kiosk is where I need to be. Mind you, this is all taking away from my precious 1 hour grace period!
I get onto a video call with poor sound quality and the woman on the other end asks for my booking number. It is provided and I am told that I am too late. My car is no longer available. I tell her to just refund my deposit. She says that she can't do that in her end.
I contact Nextcar and am directed to a WhatsApp chat. I am told that I will be contacted by someone who will resolve my issue. No phone call w4 hours later. I have made subsequent attempts with the same WhatsApp contact only to be ignored after they asked one question regarding the time I was at their phone booth kiosk.
If you want to add stress to a vacation visit just rent a car from Nextcar. Our only alternative ended up being several hundred more for a same day rental.
Horrible experience
Horrible experience. Run from this company. Difficult check in, they slam unnecessary insurance on you or won’t allow you to get the car I can’t believe Orbitz allows them on their website.
Great car rental, service, facilities etc.....
Great car rental, prices, service, personnel etcetera we met Kartick & Omar. They were very helpful, courteous professional and awesome employees. Before you try anyone else make sure you try these guys they're the best right near the airport. Shuttles Etc., free, clean, prompt.
Total scam
Total scam. No employees, just a phone booth. Line was probably 5 hours long. After 1 hour no one had gotten a car. We left and so did many others . They want you to leave. Early charge , no cancellations. Losers
This company is most dishonest car company stay away!!!!
This company is most dishonest car rental company I ever worked with. I booked a car with economy bookings and they passed it on to next car.i was told no hidden charges and dispite me showing them insurance waiver from my insurance company, they charged me $2200.00 dollars liability insurance for 27 days and said pay or we give the car away. Almost a hundred a day for insurance I already had, rude and dishonest . Enconomy bookings said not their problem. This company is in Costa Rica.car rental was $1300 insurance $2200. Ruined the vacation for us!
This company is a scam
This company is a scam! Do yourself a favor stay away! I had a prepaid car rental and was late picking up the car. They said I was late and canceled my car…. This was at the Orlando office
Tack on charges not disclosed at time…
Tack on charges not disclosed at time of booking. Supporting documents for insurance, tolls, etc that every other rental car company accepts were not good enough. Attempted to up sale us for $400+ over estimate.
Do not use this company period
Never, never again
One person at the rental counter. Waited for 90 minutes in line. When I got to the front of the line, they said the reservation was not valid after 30 minutes after reservation time. I arrived at my reservation time. I saw numerous people turned away for minor reasons. It was obvious to me they oversold their reservations and had to turn people away - and the only people they turned away were ones who were not purchasing their insurance add-ons. Shameful business. Never, never again.
100% SCAM
I wish I could give this company NO stars because this company is a complete scam and DO NOT USE! You will be charged hidden fees and NO CUSTOMER SERVICE!
Inconvenient and not cheap at all!!
I chose NextCar because the price looked attractive, but the experience was frustrating from start to finish.
After arriving at Miami Airport, I had to wait about 30 minutes for the shuttle. When it finally arrived, it took me to a dingy warehouse location that felt far from the airport and not very professional. The front desk staff seemed overworked and the whole process felt disorganized.
The return was even worse. My flight was at 5:30 AM, so I arrived at the drop-off location around 4:15 AM. There was no shuttle running to take customers back to the airport at that hour. I had to call an Uber at my own expense just to make my flight.
What looked like a cheaper option ended up costing more time, more money, and a lot of inconvenience. I would not recommend this service, especially for female travelers or anyone with an early flight.
Don't be Late!
Don't be Late!
I had a car reserved with Nextcar (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) through Economy Booking. The date of arrival, my plane was delayed 4 hrs. I call Economy Booking to let them know and they were going to tell Nextcar. When I arrived and waited in line for an hour, they told me my reservation was cancelled as a no show and would not refund my money.
Don't be fooled by the different car rentals. This place is a hole in the wall and has the same individuals renting the cars under the names of: Nextcar, Stride, Advance Car Rental, American Car Rental, Car Rental Express, Flex to Go, Rent-a-Wreck. So, I would be very careful when renting under any of these names.
Next Car (Orlando Airport or anywhere) NOT recommended
I made a reservation with NextCar at the Orlando airport through Expedia, for a trip in February 2026. The reservation was for 4 days at a total of $188.17 and I prepaid $135, with the remaining $53.17 to be paid at pick up. I had read reviews about needing to show your personal insurance at pick up to avoid extra charges and I was prepared with a printout of my USAA insurance, which is one of the 'allowable' insurance companies that Next Car accepts.
When I arrive to pick up the car there was not a live agent but rather I had to go into what resembled a large telephone booth in order to talk to a remote agent on a screen. Long story short, even with my USAA insurance in hand, she wanted to charge me an ADDITIONAL $267.13 for some ridiculously bogus reason that I still don't understand. Something along the lines of because my deductibles totaled $2000, this charge was required so that in case of an accident I would only have a $500 deductible. I declined their 'offer' and confirmed I was quite happy with my personal insurance coverage. Regardless, the extra $267.13 was required in order for me to rent the car. I pressed a lot further to get a reasonable explanation for this completely surprising and ridiculous charge and even pulled up the Terms & Conditions on my phone to show her that they included nothing about this charge (after she said "it's in the Terms & Conditions when you rented the car.") I also tried to talk to the guy at the desk outside the phone booth, whose job was to provide me with the keys once the transaction was complete, and he was not only of no help, but incredibly rude and also tried to justify the extra cost basically saying "if you don't like it we can cancel your reservation." So that is exactly what I did - and instead went next door to Advance Rent a Car, which was more expensive (given I did not have a reservation) but their real live agent, Tina, was wonderful, professional, and very understanding, and personally walked with me out to the car to make sure everything was satisfactory.
My experience was not unique - during my time in the Next Car office I or my children witnessed two other couples having similar negative experiences. One couple cancelled their reservation on the spot like I did, and the other relented and paid the fees only because they had 4 children with them and didn't feel like they had any other option.
Regarding the $135 I had prepaid on the reservation, I contacted NextCar who said that I needed to work with Expedia on the refund since I rented through a 3rd party. When I contacted Expedia, they opened a case for me but said that they'd need authorization from NextCar that the reservation was cancelled since the cancellation was not processed through the Expedia site. It's been one week since I first contacted Expedia and they're still awaiting a response from NextCar, which I doubt they'll ever receive. So now I'm moving on to disputing the $135 charge directly with my credit card company.
I'm guessing the surprising and unexplainable charges are not unique to the Orlando airport office, so I would NOT recommend Next Car at all.
Scam. Liars. They Inflate price on arrival. $2000 hold
I told them I didn't want a toll policy. I had my own Transponder accepted by Florida. They would not rent to me unless I took that coverage. They lied about not having a car to rent after we had reserved one. Told it was Spring Break (Feb 26th). We were told to wait. Then
I finally agreed to the toll to get a car. I believe their fraud negates that charge and will contact VISA,
$2000 hold put on car. Takes weeks to release they say. I did get a good car. New.
3-21-26 Visa did not find the $2000 charge. Never happened or reversed so all good with that.
I challenged the $74 unwanted toll road chage with Visa. It should work.
Disaster on New Year's eve.
I pre-rented the car before my trip to Puerto Rico on 12/31/25.
I arrived to the terminal by the agreed time and was informed they had no cars available. This is New Year's eve and the place was packed with other renters who were also waiting for a car.
I approached the counter and I spoke with the lady there and I asked her why there were no cars when I had already paid for my rental.
I asked her why they did not have my rental and she stated that I would have to wait or I could cancel.
I asked her cancel and do what?
This company is the worst, they nickel and dime you on everything they can.
You have to pay $200.00 dollars for the electronic toll gadget. I asked the lady if I don't use all the money, do I get back a refund and she stated no. So on top of paying $751.00, I had to pay an additional $200.00 dollars.
There was a family ahead of me waiting for their car and they had also paid ahead. I over heard a customer who just returned their rental and he said that his rental had a severe alignment issue.
They then gave that car to the family in front of me.
As I was getting my rental the family returned complaining of the same issue.
When I received my rental it was very dirty, the drivers seat had a stain and the car in general was not cleaned.
One night we left a cup of some juice and when we returned the cup was full of roaches.
NEVER RENT FROM THIS COMPANY, THEY ARE THE WORST.
I strongly advise against renting from Next Car El Calafate
I strongly advise against renting from Next Car/ Summit rent a car in El Calafate. We paid a premium price for a 4x4 pickup truck, expecting a reliable vehicle for the area’s terrain, but what we received was a complete disaster.
Ancient & Unsafe: The vehicle was a model from the year 2020 with over 180,000 km. It felt like it was literally falling apart; the bumpers were held together with metal wires! We were constantly terrified it would break down in the middle of nowhere.
Filthy Condition: The car was disgusting. A spare tire was dumped in the trunk, leaving no room for suitcases. Everything was so dirty that every time we handled our luggage, we had to clean the bags and our clothes.
Zero Dust/Rain Protection: Driving on gravel roads was a nightmare as dust filled the entire cabin. The cargo cover was already torn, and they warned us not to touch it so it wouldn't tear further. When we asked for a replacement, they showed us another car where the cover wouldn't even close, threatening our luggage would get soaked in the rain.
Abysmal Service: Instead of taking responsibility, the staff pressured us to make a split-second decision, claiming there were no other cars available.
This was an expensive mistake. Save your money and your safety—rent from a reputable company instead. Highly NOT recommended.
They robbed me through a sophisticated…
They robbed me through a sophisticated scam. After they suck you in with very low prices, they then upcharge you for insurance & doesn't matter if you bring your verification of being self-insured. They said the Geico declaration of insurance I had did not cover potential out-of-service time for the vehicle if/when it was in the shop, and added $24+ a day to my contract. Also, toll pass was like another 30+ a day, every day, so I declined that and took the longer routes on the whole vacation to avoid tolls. The worst experience ever, and I have been renting cars for 40+ years. I booked this through Priceline or Orbitz for $285, prepaying $175, and they got $685 out of me. They pretty much know they have you have you as their shuttle drops you off there after a long flight, so what are you to do? Call an Uber? I learned a lesson the hard way. Hopefully someone will read this and NOT get robbed by this outfit. They did not even offer a bathroom there, and this older lady had been waiting for a shuttle back to the airport and needed one. I felt bad for everyone who got off a shuttle. There is so much more; when you get there, you go into a phone booth and have a video call with an agent, so they don't have to risk getting punched when they screw you with a royal scam. I will make sure to deal with a name-brand rent-a-car agency moving forward.
