I've been using ning for a very long time already and can't count how much time it saved me up to now. There're few uncomfortable things in it but in comparison with its previous version they're totally irrelevant.

*updated

Rude, unprofessional, unacceptable experience. I was charged after the trial when I cancelled it the day I signed up because it wasn't what I was looking for. At the end of this trial I was charged and as soon as I saw it I talked with a live agent on the site. They said there was nothing stating that I cancelled and there would be no refund. I DID cancel it. I am still currently fighting with them on this. I also couldn't get any straight answer out of them about the company and when I asked to speak with a manager I was told they would email me. No one ever contacted me. This is a huge problem. Just within one conversation I was treated like a child, called a liar, and denied information on the company along with being lied too. This is not a good business and I suggest you stay away from them so this doesn't happen to you too.

UPDATE*****
They gave me a refund and asked me to remove this review. I stated that I would only update it. Once I finally got an email (after reaching out to a few different people) Jason from Ning emailed me. He was very professional and accommodating. He explained that they would give me my money back. He also wanted to negotiate a way to remove this review with credits to try their site again. I appreciated the attempt to make it right although I turned it down. This whole thing might of been a misunderstanding on both ends. If you are going to use this site just make sure to look into it and read all the fine print.

Very nice

Platform for giving any form for my ideas.
There's no need in php or even html skills for creating a sophisticated site with sexiest design:D
Completely fit my laziness and it comes at hand for every single sudden brainwave.
My regards.

Unauthorized charging of credit card by Ning Interactive …

Unauthorized charging of credit card for unknown 'ning.com'.

The company tried to have this review removed from Trustpilot but proof was provided that this review is genuine and accurate.

See the review below by Charles Knox-Vydmanov titled "Stole my money" as he also experienced the same problem with this company. And to find an additional large number of complaints about fraudulent charging, simply Google "ning interactive credit card". This shows many people also reporting fraudulent credit card charges.

Last month I applied to this company

Last month I applied to this company, for creating a social network for my business. Pleasantly pleased me with polite and responsible staff, all explained and helped. They made me soc. network in about a month, which could not surprise me. And the cost of the service was not at all expensive. Thank you very much helped.

Stole my money

I signed up to Ning a few years ago and subsequently cancelled my subscription, something I have in writing. However, for the next two years they proceeded to take payment from me without my knowledge. I wrote to them asking for them to refund the payment, but they have refused to do so. So they've effectively stole more than £300 from me.

This doesn't seem like a company you can trust to treat you fairly.

The recent private equity acquisition …

The recent private equity acquisition of NING is the best thing that has happened to it in the 9 years that I have been using the platform. It has begun to inject confidence into their creators. The integration with creators in the help forum and the live-online help are awesome and great beginnings.

But, because the the previous NING leadership was so negligent, they need to do more. I recently filed a ticket because my search function wasn't working and it took 2 weeks to get a resolution- that's not good enough.

They also need to address the following for 2.0 and 3.0, and do it quickly.
1. Better monetization of the mobile version. This is 40% of our traffic and I can't put any ads in front of these users.
2. Third-party creativity. They need to make the site easily modifiable so creators can implement 3rd party apps and tools.
3. Reliable emailing tools - Why should I need to get Constant Contact?
4. New Templates

I loved Ning when I created my network but then …

I loved Ning when I created by education based, non-profit network. It was free then. I wanted to communicate science, educate people in the right way, free of charge as India is still a developing country and many people cannot afford the right education. Ning suited me the best. It was easy to operate and free of so many problems we face now. I was delighted to get associated with Ning for my endeavour.
But then after two years of my creating my network things started to become difficult. Ning started charging us. It was okay in the beginning as the dollar exchange rate was low. But now one US dollar is equal to nearly 65 Indian rupees and our burden is increasing day by day as dollar rate is increasing with regard to Indian rupee. I requested Ning to charge us in Indian rupees several months back , but it fell on deaf years.
And Ning networks have become problematic. We face several problems frequently like Errors (500), search problems, comment boxes disappearing all of a sudden, typed matter disappearing when we click on 'save' etc. etc.
Problem solving has become lengthy, slow. When we complain, sometimes we get irrelevant and repeated replies, using the same language. We have to endure all this!
Several members of my network stopped visiting us because of these problems. I stopped taking new members too.
But still I continue with my work despite having so many problems because of my determination to do good work.
A final request: Please don't make things more difficult for us. Please don't make us leave Ning in desperation.
Thanks

Ex Being Creator With Some Doubts

Ning has been a part of my life since 2009, it started gaining popularity in 2004 and launched the networks we know today as 2.0 in 2007. I've successfully run a Ning site from 2009 - 2010. The service stopped being free, and I was forced to pay with no choice. I did so in 2011 - 2012. Launched a. new network from 2012 - 2015. In 2015, I was unexpectedly removed from Ning because of bad network management and fake evidence against my network from another network in the spiritual category. I've tried unsuccessfully to return to Ning ever since, I think 3.0 was the worst decision Ning ever made! Ning 2.0 is the best decision which kept users and search engines coming back, within the first top 10 results for any keyword search term. Ning used to be fantastic, it has lost its way from 2013 onwards and I don't appreciate it's direction by not having the ability to reinstate old networks or 2.0 sites. Ning was best when it was free, you had a directory of Ning sites you could click on to join or leave, and all members of Ning sites, could sign in to Ning.com, create their own network for free and be happy with the fact that Ning was like a family of sorts, with no restrictions on who could and couldn't join a network. Ning was so popular as a directory, anyone from one Ning site, could invite their friends from another, and start building their own network in no time at all. Crippling that functionality was definitely the end of Ning as far as functionality is concerned. Now days, Word Press, Social Engine and other CMS products, beat Ning by a mile when it comes to update standards, code and management practices and general functionality of product and service reliability. People have no control of their sites, poor language communications on Ning Creators leave Ning grasping at straws to get the service back to what it once was. Features are all well and good, but Ning 2 had the ability to do simple thing. Share content items with your friends. See who liked your posts. Had leaderboards to see what posts had active daily comments or Views. See who was able to moderate their own posts. Had individual user profile page customizations. Be able to search members with profile questions. Be able to add site map to site. Be able to add a custom tagline and description for every page of the site automatically. Ning 3.0 is not the reimagining of the product, it is a step beyond functionality in to instability and buggy code at best. There are constantly problems beyond functionality Ning 3.0 is constantly plagued with. Ning 2 works, always will, and always should be available by default to New and existing customers. Simply allowing people to choose what type of network version you'd like, will solve this issue, and bring me closer to using Ning again. Assuming the new management isn't as picky about who can have a network based on issues concerning other Creators, as opposed to the functionality of who was enjoying the. network for what it was. I had no issues with Ning otherwise. Their support absolutely sucked when I was using it, but prior to 2012, it was the best platform. There just needs to be a better pricing structure for Ning. It's way too over priced for what you get right now. And I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who was trying to start a social network. It's slow, it has down time, the new owners are not what I'd call Ning professional coders and I'm sure the old staff there benefits from over priced and under paid development so yeah not impressed with the company at all. Despite people caring about reviving it in recent months. I've got some deep mental scarring because of this company and its business practices I definitely have an issue with, because it prevented the only thing I put most of my time in to making a reality, when things were working perfectly fine before then. I'm not opposed to change, but the inability to grow your own network with the change already happening to it, or to shut it down in other words because someone else decided to pay enough money to kick you off because they wanted to invest their own network space to replace yours, when it was not okay with you, and Ning just decided to go for it, was definitely a deal breaker for me. I won't pay this company a dime and I've no problem setting up trial networks and not paying a dime for them while I test the company and its performance over time. I hope the company finds better management and returns to a more familiar way of running a website business. Because you have no control over what you wish to do with a network and it's data which should be yours, I'd recommend source code access so you could run a server local install of your network code in case you were wishing to move to a better server set up, and didn't wish to pay Ning a set amount for something you could pay better prices elsewhere.

So far the response rate has been very …

So far the response rate has been very good since you guys took over. However you are making promises you aren't keeping. You told us Ning 2.0 was going to get a makeover and a new chat, and instead my network has experienced lag and a broken old chat for about a week. I'd like a little more clarity and transparency as to how you will be proceeding with us. Otherwise you are doing a much better job than the previous owners.

Ning is back

Ning is back! It is night and day since Ning was taken over by the new company. Tickets are answered and improvements are being made. They basically picked up where the the old Ning left off and are continuing forward. They are even answering questions in the forums again. A lot of people rely on the new Ning and I feel confident going forward with them.

Ning got new life after this recent ownership took over. They communicate in a reasonable feature and seem more knowledgeable. I have seen features get nice overhauls as well as long awaited features being released that had been promised for years. I love this newfound energy and don't want this feeling to stop.
