Biggest insurance scam ever in my life
Biggest insurance scam ever in my life. I took my VAN policy with NOVA. How will a van user move without his tools in the van. There were no section on the online to help you pick the actual, 100% or appropriate box to fits your need. Took a policy that will start in weeks time from Nove in the morning around 7am and one of their trained scammers called me around 9am same day. He asked that i did not state i will be using my van to carry my tools. Is this not dumb? Because of this, my premium went up close or even over £1000 from £700+.
They refused to send me my money and i contacted my bank and explai all. My bank investigated and and charge back my money.
Now they are using debt recovery to chase me for payment. Silly group of people. Scammers

I was looking to renew my Landlords insurance policy. I completed a search on line to get some quotes.
I received an email from John Forbes at Nova Insurance, stating he would be happy to assist me with finding a new Landlords insurance Policy. All correspondence was conducted by email, which was my preference. John requested information to allow him to complete a search which I sent to him and within minutes he had found me an excellent deal.
I would definitely recommend Nova Insurance and John Forbes.

My advice to anyone looking at using this company is to avoid it and look elsewhere. Keep well away, unless you enjoy receiving terrible customer service and parting with your well-earned cash for a non-service.
In my experience, I have found the customer service to be diabolical, the majority of the staff I have dealt with have been downright rude and unhelpful, and that's if you are fortunate enough to ever get through to them. Getting access to customer service is a nightmare, I have tried numerous times within the last few weeks, over the phone and by leaving emails! Emails have been ignored and the phone cuts off as soon as you get through to customer services via the automated system.
I took out a policy for my van on 5th December 2020, based upon a quote I received from a comparison site. Once I had taken out the insurance, Nova came back to me to say that the price needed to be increased due to misinterpreted information from the comparison site. I accepted this initially, until they returned with a new quotation which was astronomical, the amount being over double the amount I was quoted originally and I cancelled this on 5th January. I had had enough of the dreadful service from this company who were trying to rip me off along with staff I had dealt with having a discourteous and downright rude attitude.
I have still not been refunded, even though I paid the premium in full, for the year and have been paying interest on my visa card for this non-service ever since.
Today, when I "finally" got through to a customer service advisor, he informed me that I would not be refunded until 5th March, which is 8 weeks and 3 days since I cancelled my policy. The Company advertise that the refund period is between 6 - 8 weeks, so this is also another one of their policies that they have not adhered to. When I asked, he would not confirm what the amount is that I would be refunded, also when asked, he refused to put me through to someone in accounts to discuss this further and when I asked to speak the manager, he informed me that he was off until Monday, surprise, surprise.
I look forward in receiving your comments regarding this, although I won't hold my breath!

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE RUDE STAFF
POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Had a customer service representative hang-up on me after a big sigh because I was aksing him questions about a quoute. All I was trying to do is receive a quote from them, not to mention everytime you call a different price is give to you which keeps increasing. And if you want to renew with them for another year, they won't offer a discount, exactly the opposite they will increase the price even more. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL

Am Just Glad I Haven't Had to Make an Insurance Claim
Very quick to take your money, but very, very slow to return it. Am still waiting 6 weeks later for my pro-rata refund after I cancelled my policy due to selling the property that was insured.
After chasing Nova multiple times, I was told that the money would be refunded by today, yet still no refund. Called today and was told it could be up to another 2 weeks. Goodness help anyone who has to actually make a claim.
While there's nothing in the policy documents that states they can hold onto your money for 8 weeks, Nova claim they have T&Cs on their website. If that's true, then how many terms and conditions are you expected to read? Why is it not in the policy documents? And why do they or their underwriters need to hold onto your money for so long? My experience of other companies is that refunds usually take around a week to process. Something's not right here.
Shall wait the two weeks and then just issue a small claims against Nova if the money isn't back in my account.
Update 2020-12-07: Today I was notified by Trustpilot that Nova Insurance wanted to remove my review as they did not believe it was genuine. I've now sent Trustpilot the proof, but you have to wonder how many other valid reviews Nova have had removed because people can't be bothered to jump through hoops to provide evidence. This process of removing negative reviews potentially massively skews the rating for Nova and as such, cannot be relied upon. For all you know, they've had far more negative reviews than positive, but they've managed to get the negative ones removed. And who validates the positive ones? Certainly not Trustpilot, that's for sure.
Update 2020-12-15: I have since been refunded the money owed.

They increased premium after taking payment, took four months to refund and then charged a £60 cancellation fee!
I can see on here that others have also been subjected to this foul practice.
I can't believe such shoddy and deceitful practices are still prevalent in the insurance business.

I will of course be filing a complaint with the Financial Ombudsman.
For complete disclosure I will add that I have two jobs but the drop down menu on the site only allows one therefore I listed my main one.

Avoid at all cost!! I am still waiting for a refund. I was informed 6-8 weeks, I was instructed to not call and to correspond via email. I purchased through ‘compare the market’ and was contacted the next day to be inform that I had purchased an incorrect policy. Whilst on the phone I then reviewed the policy and was quoted the same price
through the compare site. He went silent checked and I was not charged an admin fee. However, I was then inundated with being asked to provide documents and therefore I decided to move insurance companies. I moved to Gladiator (which are fantastic) and should have received a refund by the end of March 2020. I will never use again and would advise people to not use this company. I will be logging an official complaint as this company just want to rip you off and are fraudsters.

Avoid at all costs. An absolute bunch of crooks. They will lie to you to get you to sign up for a policy then change the price and charge you to cancel. A direct debit was returned for no reason at all, I called to resolve it and was told that they were putting it down as a default on my credit rating and charging me an extra £30 even tho this was the first time it had happened. Awful customer service and once your locked into a contract they will charge you as much as they possibly can.

Whilst Nova couldn’t provide a product to suit my unusual requirements, Nathan, who (quickly) responded to my call back request really went the extra mile to try and find the information I needed. Rather than just an opinionated ‘no’, he genuinely went to seek answers and potential alternatives via his colleagues and underwriters. A company I would happily deal with in the future.

Bought the policy through comparison website and they seemed cheapest and I bought it. The next day had a bunch of rude people calling me and threatening that they will not issue policy until I pay them £800 above what I paid. Ok so I cancelled NOW they didn’t paid my money back and it’s been more than 2 weeks. I will definitely not recommend them in million years... seriously they scammer and someone should report them to trading standards and I’ll what I can.

That’s not my issue I’m OK with that. You are Still holding my money And there’s no way to contact anyone in your customers service. And that’s all the money I had in this difficult times. You don’t have any idea what I’ve been through to find more cash to do my VAN insurance and start working . We didn’t agree you guys should pay back to your customers in at least 3 working days. But it took more than 3 weeks and I’m still waiting. On your website it says could take from 7-8 week. That’s ridiculous....
