Misleading Sales Tactics & Hidden Costs – Avoid at All Costs

I regret signing up with Nuvei. Their sales rep promised “low rates” and “flexible terms,” but here’s the truth:

Contract Term Hidden: They never explained that it’s a 3-year non-cancellable contract with automatic renewals. You’ll need 90 days’ notice to avoid getting locked in again.

Rates Are Not What They Promise: They advertise competitive pricing, but after hidden fees (PCI, batch, monthly minimums), the effective rate is way higher than quoted.

Unclear Fee Structure: The agreement is full of vague terms like “qualified vs. non-qualified” rates, making it impossible to predict your real costs.

Cancellation Penalties Are Outrageous: If you try to cancel early, you’ll face a minimum $300 penalty – often much higher based on your processing volume. On top of that, if you leased a terminal, they’ll demand the entire remaining lease balance upfront.

Poor Transparency: Sales reps never disclose these terms upfront. Everything looks good until you see your first statements and realize you’re locked into a very expensive arrangement.

If you’re a small business owner, stay away. There are better options out there like Square, Stripe, or Moneris that offer month-to-month agreements and clear pricing.
