The information on the website is out of date

The chair seems just fine.
However, when trying to buy the chair, my wife and I drove out to the purported warehouse, and discovered that it had closed. This information is on the phone automatic message, but the website had not been updated. Also, the delivery organization is set up by text message. This is not very efficient.
Still, I am pleased with the purchase, and we have now ordered a second chair.

Easy Order and Quick delivery

The order was easy to submit, and the product was delivered in quick order (less than a week from order to delivery).
One minor issue was noted with the delivery, and Customer Care is resolving the issue.

Herman Miller Aeron

Herman Miller Aeron

Product is amazing, my only complaint was that I wasn't patient, and it took around 3 weeks to get the item. Completely worth the wait! Came as described and as someone that works from home frequently, you can't put a price on a good chair!

Overall Quality of Experience

Slow to answer status of order & shipping was slower than stated with order confirmation. The hydraulic plunger that controls the vertical movement of the chair makes noise when sitting down in the chair and its not a smooth transition down. It's almost like it needs lubed

Chair was not assembled correctly from there warehouse and the chair its self must be a really poor design or i got a lemon.

Upon assembly, I encountered two issues right off the bat that I had to fix. First, the seat pan was not correctly aligned with the cushion. Second, the back adjustment knob didn’t function at all. Although these issues were easy enough to fix, they started things off on a bad note.

After using the chair for a few days, I found more problems. However, after speaking with customer support, I was informed that these issues are apparently part of the chair's design by Steelcase.

Major Issue 1: The Seat

The first major issue/design flaw is with the seat. It’s attached using a slider system with such loose tolerances that the seat wobbles and makes a clicking noise every time you move because it constantly hits the frame. Combine this with the overly flexible seat pan "design" that bends and touches the frame, and you end up with even more clicking/movement noises. So, if you fidget a lot in your chair like I do, you’ll constantly hear these clicking noises from parts rubbing against the frame, which will drive you nuts.

Major Issue 2: The Back

The second major issue I have with the chair is the backrest. On the side of my chair where it attaches to the back adjustment knob, the plastic/support is noticeably weaker, to the point where I find myself sliding to that side. This has started to cause me mid-to-upper back pain due to my spine being out of alignment all the time. Again, after speaking with customer service, I was told that the seat back is ASYMMETRICAL and that this was part of the design. None of the research I did before purchase, nor anything on their site, mentioned this. I can't understand why anyone would want that; it’s just asking for back pain. I was advised by support to set my back support adjustment to the lowest setting to accommodate for this, but I can say with certainty that it makes little to no difference.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the chair was not assembled correctly from their warehouse, and the chair itself must have either a really poor design or I got a lemon. I will be returning this chair, as these issues are simply unacceptable for a chair that has an MSRP of $1,200+. I bought it professionally refurbished and reupholstered, so it didn’t cost me that much, but it still wasn’t cheap at $550 + tax.

The person from customer service was nice enough, but I have a feeling I’ll be the one covering the return cost for a misleading and poorly designed product. Stay away from Steelcase; they seem way overrated!

The customer received a defective unit and received a full refund. We also covered return shipping. The chair was defective in a very unique way - so we were not able to provide an immediate resolution until we received the chair. We couldn't identify the exact issue, but, when we received it, it felt strange to us when sitting in it (and we've sat in a lot of Leaps!) so we knew something was wrong.

The back of a Steelcase Leap v2 is somewhat asymmetrical. This is typically not a problem because you relcine into the back, and the back gives way under your shoulders.

However, the customer's chair back was bent in the opposite way we would expect. This does not meet our quality standards. Most likely it bent during shipping.

Some noise from the seat pan is normal for a Leap. What the customer experienced was highly abnormal. The Leap was definitely defective.

Fabric - when we refabric these chairs, we add additional foam. This raises the pad over the plastic housing and creates gaps. After using the chair for a few months, these gaps tend to disappear. Small price to pay for added comfort.

Overall, we apologize that the customer received a defective unit and we have refunded him in full including all return shipping.

The chair is sweet

The chair is honestly the most comfortable thing I've sat on in my apartment. Some guy called me to check in on the delivery day, he was super nice and helpful with telling me when I could expect the delivery. The delivery itself was super smooth and some dude carried the chair to my door, which was wild. 5/5 - I'd get a chair from here again
