Don’t buy from this this place. For glasses that cost £100 you’d expect them to at least a year before they go bad. These don’t. Bought mines from Spitalfields store and within 6 months glasses had... See more

Please don't know what they are doing

Please don't know what they are doing
Staff doesn't check measurements correctly, if at all, and glasses were not made as per prescription.
Yes it's low cost, but bear it mind that for glasses you really do get what you pay for. AVOID.

Scratch Resistant?

When I purchased my glasses from Canary Wharf my wife told the sales advisor that she had a tiny scratch on one lens. He told her that wouldn’t be a problem and would fix it FOC, which he did. My glasses also now have the same small scratch on a lens and so I took them to Covent Garden and asked for it to be fixed in the same way, how wrong was I? The guy who we have dealt with wasn’t there, he was French I think and had excellent customer service skills, which, this girl could do with learning. After much discussion she called Canary Wharf who said they would offer me 20% off!!! Ridiculous. I wrote and email and then was offered 50% off a repair!! I was lead to believe that my wife’s repair at the time may have been at the store managers discretion. This is not the case as at no time did the sales advisor go off to talk to a manager about my wife’s glasses, he just said he would do it. I sent another email not accepting the 50% off but I have heard nothing back. My wife and I had been very happy with Ollie Quinn and would have both certainly returned for a new set each early next year, now I’m not so sure.

Pleasantly surprised!

I went to Ollie Quinn in Clapham Junction (London) for a new pair of glasses. I didn't have my prescription with me, so I got an eye test. The lady was really nice and the shop assistants allowed me to try the frames I wanted quite a lot of times (:P) until I could wrap up my mind around which one I wanted.

Then the glasses were ready only 3 days after, which was super convenient. Really happy with the service, I'll definitely buy from them again.

Not very good service this time

Went to the Leeds Shop this week having had excellent service there last year. Was looking for a pair of tinted overglasses to use with the specs I bought last year. Disappointed to receive a rather different level of service this time - not a smile in sight. The overglasses were selected and paid for - but not particularly good value at at £50, I thought - and not even a cloth bag was offered to protect them, simply the most basic plastic envelope. When I asked about a case, I was told that they didn't supply soft bags, and a standard hard case would cost an extra £10, which was curious because on a previous visit to the shop a week earlier, I was looking at the same overglasses. At the time, I didn't buy because they could only offer a shop-soiled pair and declined to discount. I chose to go away to see if I could order new online. However, at that time, the assistant had seemed quite prepared to give me a hard case for free.
Nice selection of frames on offer but will probably start elsewhere next time I need specs. With plenty of competition in the area, you'd think they might try a bit harder.

Expected to pay for the opticians error

I had an eye exam in December 2018. As I already had a pair of frames, Ollie Quinn said it was their policy to only provide lenses for their own frames so I had to go elsewhere to have my lenses done. I filled my prescription in April 2019 only to find out that my prescription was far too strong. I struggled with the new lenses for a week thinking maybe I just needed to get use to them. I contacted the optician and I booked in to see him and he reduced my prescription from +1.75 to +1.5. So I went back to the place I had my prescription filled and they said they would replace the lenses for free but I would need to pay a $30 lab fee. I called the optician from Ollie Quinn and asked if he would be willing to pay this as my prescription was incorrect to begin with. He said that he was not willing to pay this and that there was no error on their part. When I showed the new prescription to the optician where I got my lenses done, she did a quick test and advised my prescription should actually be +1.00 so yet another wrong prescription from Ollie Quinn. I contacted the manager at the Commercial Drive location and he said that he would talk to the optician. He said that possibly they would be able to waive their policy of fitting lenses to customers frames but has since re-nagged on this option and has said there is nothing they can do as the optician is a third party (They use the same optician firm for all of their Vancouver locations). My eye exam cost $90 which was not good value for money as it was grossly incorrect and even the second attempt was poor. So please be warned that if there is a problem it will be you who is expected to foot the bill for their mistakes.

The Brighton "Boutique"

The Brighton "Boutique" offers, according to the Ollie Quinn website, that "you'll be met by our friendly team" and "you can guarantee an Ollie Quinn staffer at the ready". Unfortunately not on a weekday early afternoon when the friendly team have gone to lunch for an hour and locked the door. Sadly also not just after 10.00 am on a weekday when the website says they open, but the manager only gets to work just before midday leaving a member of staff and customers waiting outside for 2 hours.

As well as staff who are not committed to fulfilling the commitment to open the shop for the hours stated, the service is highly variable depending on who you see. What a shame Ollie Quinn, none of this is rocket science.

Will only be buying from OQ from now on

I went into the store to try on the Jelka and some other pairs. Due to having had my prescription done recently somewhere else I went home and ordered the glasses online.

The ordering process was so easy. The email communication was brilliant. Very fast responses. I was told the glasses should be ready within two weeks and they were posted out in that time frame. Good delivery with emails and texts letting me know exactly when they would arrive at my home.

The glasses are perfect lightweight and I’ve had lots of compliments on them. The price is great £105 including lenses, especially when most places charge designer prices but only offer a standard size which is often too small for me. I will now slowly be buying them in every colour as soon as I can afford to.

Very unprofessional staff

Very unprofessional staff. I’ve been called for an interview and I started to work 1 day only 3 hours at commercial drive. The manager says to me because is not busy to not stay the whole day even it was my first day they didn’t know how to training me, in store was very cold, dirty and dusty. After that nobody text me if I am employed or not, I was waiting 2 weeks for some news just to tell me that they decide to go in a different direction. Bad experience and soo unproffesional people there. Never again in that store!!!

I've used OQ on several occasions and can't recommend them enough!

I've used OQ on several occasions and at various branches in London, UK and Vancouver, Canada. Each time their friendly, diligent and expert staff have been helpful, reassuring and with no hard-sell.

On the last occasion, Rayina and Ivan at the Commercial Drive (Vancouver) store couldn't have been more helpful when assisting with the repair of my glasses.

I can't recommend OQ enough!

*Updated review

*Have heard from Bristol Manager who has apologised for the Bath store service received and agreed to a full refund plus offered for the glasses to be posted. This response has not changed my initial experience but it feels like the Bristol store wish to resolve the matter.

Would not recomend!
Unprofessional service in the Bath store two weeks ago but I overlooked this on the day as I really liked one of their frames. More fool me!
1 Firstly there was missing information (my reading prescription that Angus the Optician spoke to me about) on the prescription emailed to me. I responded immediately to ask for it to be corrected but absolutely no response from store.
2 I paid in full on the day and was told to wait two weeks, then I received an email this week saying the store was closing down the next day! Email stated they’d either post new glasses to me or I could travel over an hour to Bristol to collect. So I emailed immediately to say please call me to discuss as was unsure what their expectation was on how I should have the specs fitted - a really important point with new glasses. This was the first contact from store since the day of purchase.
Guess what, no response again, so what’s happening to the glasses I paid for two weeks ago? Who knows.
Awful service from start to finish. I have requested a refund today, let’s see if that email gets a response!
