Never travel with Oman Air

Never travel with Oman Air and if you can avoid it, stay far away from Karachi Airport when flying with them. I travelled with Oman Air on 9th January from Karachi to Muscat and it was without question the worst and most humiliating travel experience I have ever had.

From the very beginning at the check-in counter, the staff behaved in an extremely rude, aggressive, and unprofessional manner. While my mother was simply placing her bags on the weighing scale, the staff began arguing with her and misbehaving, speaking in a threatening and disrespectful tone for absolutely no reason. Instead of assisting passengers, they seemed determined to intimidate us.

One staff member went as far as threatening us over our hand-carry bags, aggressively warning us not to buy anything from duty free, as if we were doing something illegal. Their behavior was completely unjustified and deeply upsetting. As we moved toward security, the harassment did not stop. Oman Air staff followed us through the airport, watching us closely like we were criminals. One of them stopped me and said, Wait until you get to the gate, we will not let you board. We will cancel your flight.” This caused extreme stress and anxiety, especially when traveling with my mother.

When we finally reached the gate, the situation escalated even further. We were publicly singled out, bullied, and told to sit aside, while other passengers were boarding without any issues. Many of those passengers clearly had a hand-carry bag, a personal item, and large amounts of duty-free items, easily 5–10 kg for some.In comparison, we only had one hand carry bag and a personal item, fully within limits. Despite this, the staff told us we would not be allowed to board and arrogantly said, Don’t compare yourself to other passengers.

At one point, a staff member attempted to grab my mother’s hand and her boarding pass. Only after my mother screamed did the staff member let go. This was not only shocking but completely unacceptable. No passenger should ever be physically handled or threatened in such a way. The staff continued to bully, intimidate, and verbally abuse us, even resorting to swearing, before finally allowing us to board the plane at the last moment.

This entire incident can be verified through CCTV footage at Karachi Airport, as well as by airport security and numerous members of the public who witnessed the harassment and abuse we were subjected to. We have traveled through Karachi Airport many times with other airlines and have never experienced anything remotely like this.

Oman Air’s staff at Karachi Airport are hostile, unprofessional, and completely untrained in how to speak to passengers, let alone treat them with basic human respect. What we experienced was intimidation, humiliation, and emotional distress, something no paying passenger should ever have to endure.

I strongly warn others: stay away from Oman Air, especially when flying from Karachi. No journey is worth being treated this way.

Customer service refund

I contacted customer service to change the name on one of my tickets. Initially, the contact went relatively smooth and I thought the change had been arranged after I had payed. However, after not receiving a confirmation after some weeks, I contacted customer service again, only to learn the change had not been processed. For some reason, I had to pay again, because the previous payment could not be found. I was promised that the initial payment would be refunded. This was on the 23rd of December. At the time of writing it is the 11th of January and the payment has yet to be refunded. Very lackluster customer care. Bad communication and to top it off the number I had to call is an Omani number, which means a surcharge every time I try to reach them.

I travelled with Oman Air over…Great Experience from start to finish!

I travelled with Oman Air over Christmas from Heathrow to Bangkok via Muscat. My family and I had a great experience with the airline ...Was nervous after reading some of the awful reviews online. First class service during the flight, no delays or short staffing. Couldn't be happier! Ground crew even had my son's sunglasses waiting for us on our return trip which he left on the seat of the outbound flight. Will recommend and wouldn't hesitate to travel with Oman Air again.

Unfortunately not as good anymore

I used to be a big fan of Oman Air, but it's not the same service like before.

Business Class Flight from FRA-MCT-BKK:
Service FRA-MCT absolutely unattentive, unfriendly, not service-oriented . They wake you up for breakfast way to long before landing (2.5h).

I had ordered starter, main and dessert, they just served me the starter. After complaining the main I have ordered was out of stock.

There was no blanket at my seat. I had to ask 3 ! times in order to get one.

NO pyjama, NO amenity kits, No slippers. You literally had to beg for a toothbrush set. No sorry, just the information that these were out of stock.

Service on MCT-BKK much better : very attentive and friendly. Although still NO pyjama, NO amenity kits, No slippers. But at least toothbrush sets in bathrooms.

Limited meals. I sat in the middle of the the business class seats and the beef dish on the menue was not available for all.

Luggage in BKK arrived in the last round.

Customer service contact by email was impossible in advance, they always answer you should call an Omani Call Center number.

The apex seats are comfortable.

During the online bookingThe ticket issued by Oman Air does not match what I selected at checkout due to a system error. process

During the online booking process, your website automatically applied optional extras, including priority check-in, without my active selection. While attempting to remove these extras, I navigated back and forth through the booking stages. During this process, the fare option that included 20kg checked baggage appears to have been removed without any clear, prominent, or explicit warning.

I proceeded to complete the booking in good faith. As this is a long-haul international return flight from the UK to Bangkok, I reasonably relied on the expectation — consistent with industry standards — that checked baggage would be included. The ticket was issued, and only after completion did I discover that no checked baggage allowance was included.

Upon contacting your customer service team, I was informed that the ticket is non-refundable and that adding 20kg checked baggage for the outbound and return journeys would cost more than the original ticket price. This is clearly disproportionate and unreasonable.

I must stress that this situation arose due to a defective and misleading booking interface, rather than an informed or deliberate choice on my part. Under UK consumer law, including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations 2008, consumers must be provided with clear, transparent, and prominent information before entering into a contract. The removal of a fundamental element of an international flight — checked baggage — without clear disclosure fails to meet this standard.

I therefore formally request that Oman Air:

Adds a 20kg checked baggage allowance to both outbound and return sectors of my booking at no additional or reasonable cost; or

Provides an appropriate alternative remedy reflecting what a reasonable consumer would have expected at the time of booking.

If this matter cannot be resolved promptly and fairly, I will have no option but to escalate the issue to my payment provider through a formal dispute and, if necessary, pursue the matter further through the appropriate consumer protection channels.

I trust Oman Air will review this matter carefully and respond within a reasonable timeframe.

Would not fly Oman Air again

We fly often and we flew Business Class on Oman Air from Zürich to Maskat and back in Februar 2025.

Overall I give two stars, because the presentation and the quality of the food was really good, the seats were comfortable and everything was working, because it was a relatively new plane. Also, the flights were on time due to very early boarding.

However, I would not choose the airline again, if I can avoid it.

The service is very unfriendly and not helpful at all. Service stops after the meal: windows are blackened on a day flight although there is still daylight outside, no beverages are provided anymore (also not in the galley). On the flight to Mascat there was at least a bottle of water at the seat, on the flight back nothing. The galley is closed by curtains to discourage any passenger from asking something. On a 6 to 7 hour flight you get one meal - that’s it. Not even any snacks or dates or anything. On the way to Mascat when ordering something to drink the stewardess showed you how to open the bottle of water at your seat. On the way back no service after the meal and no water bottle at the seat. When you order the meal, you are not asked about e. g. your preferred dessert. If you do not actively order it, you get none. If you are a vegetarian sitting in the last row, there may be no vegetarian option left for you - bad luck.

The temperature in the cabin is freezing cold - even with a blanket.

Amenities and a bottle of water were only provided on the flight to Mascat.

We were on a codeshare flight of Swiss, so that we were unfortunately not able to reserve our seats in advance.

We had 9 hours delay on the first leg…

We had 9 hours delay on the first leg of the flight. They compensated it with hotel stay with free breakfast and lunch. When we arrived in Muscat, there is another 7 hours waiting which they compensate with voucher from McDonalds. We lost a day with all the delays. Oman Air never bothered to inform us beforehand. To make water worse, they mishandled one of our luggages. For whatever unknown reason, it was not loaded in the plane with the rest of our luggages. We had to wait another day to get the bag. When it arrived, the bag is ruined. It is missing one of the wheels and cannot be repaired anymore.

It is simply a horrible experience. We will never ever fly with Oman again. We will also do our best to caution our family, friends and acquaintances to think long and hard before purchasing a ticket.

Refuse to engage or deal with customers properly.
Refund requested 28-nov. After a lot of dissactory phone calls and ignored emails, refund amount confirmed and approved 14-december. Now 30-december. Still no funds in account. Oman air still not engaging or helpful.
Update: after numerous requests for the electronic payment reference number, card was credited on 01-jan. This hasn't changed my opinion and still rate Oman with only 1 star

Nice and cheap company

I flew with Oman Air from Istanbul to Bangkok (return). Check-in for checked luggage was a bit unfriendly, but overall the experience was good. The in-flight entertainment was excellent, the food was tasty, and we received a pillow, earplugs, and a blanket. A slightly chaotic cabin, but I would consider flying with them again.

Great customer service on the phone with Oman Air UK. Oman Air had changed flights and there was an error in the new schedule. I called the UK customer service line and spoke to Shivam. He quickly and efficiently sorted the issue and I am very happy with the service and new flight. Thank you Oman Air and Shivam. Looking forward to travelling again with Oman Air.

I would give a negative if I could.
Rude abusive and arrogant air hostess. I was vomiting profusely and it was because of the smell from the toilet with a mixture of the food quality. I went and sat away from the smell to freshen my mind. The air hostess removed me from the seat which was in club class. I went there because the of the stench which would increase my vomiting. The air
Hostess quickly removed me and said” here have some orange juice”!!! Nasty and cruel no manners. I’ll pay £300 more to Amy airline than ever get on plan air EVER AGAIN!!!

Outstanding Experience with Oman Air

Oman Air has consistently been one of the best airlines I have flown with.
My most recent experience (today, at the time of writing this review) truly reflects their professionalism. I requested to change an upcoming flight to the following day after the original flight was brought forward by nearly an hour. After a few hours of communication, the change was approved smoothly, with no additional charges for five passengers, and the update was instantly confirmed via the Oman Air app. Exceptional flexibility and customer care.
Onboard, the seats are comfortable even in Economy Class, and the meals are healthy and delicious—especially appreciated on long-haul flights.
I frequently travel long distances with Oman Air, such as London Heathrow–Muscat and Istanbul–Muscat, and the service has always been refined, reliable, and welcoming.
Thank you, Oman Air, for your high standards and genuinely elegant service.

Never again - inhumane

I’ve never flown on a carrier and thought - never again. I’ll upload a photo of my allocated ‘cattle class’ seat to show how bad it was but I flew from Heathrow to Phuket, stopping in Muscat. At this point the cost was £1,350 return. The seats are smaller than usual airlines and this one was hemmed in front of a divider in the middle of the plane without a window (in which would be a window seat). So it didn’t recline much. And the seat itself was worn out and really awful. Because the seats are so small, when two ‘larger’ individuals took the seats next to me I felt incredibly claustrophobic and wanted to exit the plane - 7.5 hrs sitting there felt inhumane. From the moment I booked I was harassed my Oman Air to upgrade, using some kind of bidding system. And that’s eventually what I did. WARNING - I was almost scammed. Somehow scammers are aware that you’ve bid (which I did). I was emailed to say my bid was successful but that I did not have enough money in that account (I did) and to provide different banking details. The link to retry the same bank details didn’t work. I told the air staff when they checked in and they seemed aware of it. In the end the flights cost me a fortune; I really did not think I could get through the flight on my allocated seats (30a). I feel calm about it now but never, never again

Payment Taken, No Ticket Issued. Worst Airline Support Experience in Years

This has been one of the worst airline experiences I have had in years, and I travel frequently across regions.

I attempted to book a flight from Lahore to Munich through Oman Air’s website. The payment repeatedly failed. I then contacted Oman Air’s phone support, who sent me a payment link and confirmed that once payment was made, the ticket would be issued.

I paid in full through the official payment link and received confirmation of payment. Despite this, no ticket was issued. No booking reference. No follow-up. No accountability.

What followed was weeks of absolute chaos.

Every call to Oman Air support was routed to an outsourced call center, apparently in India, where agents had no visibility, no authority, and no understanding of what was going on. Each call resulted in contradictory answers, false assurances, and zero action. At times, I was simply told that nothing could be done.

It genuinely felt like my money had disappeared into a black hole.

The only reason I eventually got my money back was because my virtual bank, Revolut, stepped in and successfully recovered the funds after a lengthy dispute process. Oman Air did nothing to resolve the issue.

For a so-called world-renowned airline, this level of operational failure and customer negligence is unacceptable. Outsourcing your phone support to teams that cannot help, cannot escalate, and provide incorrect information is damaging to your brand and dangerous for customers.

Oman Air seriously needs to take control of its payment processes and bring customer support back in-house.
