I bought a car via the Openlane platform and the experience with their claims department left a lot to be desired.
Once the vehicle was delivered, I noticed a number of problems that hadn't been properly disclosed in the auction listing. The interior was in far worse shape than advertised, there was clear wear and damage to the steering wheel, the center console armrest, and the driver's headrest. On top of that, the odometer reading was higher than what had been listed at the time of the auction.
Following the required claims procedure, I took the car to an authorized Tesla workshop. The technicians identified a faulty suspension component on the front axle causing abnormal tire wear, as well as a malfunctioning climate control unit that was not operational. The workshop refused to issue a general diagnostic report until these issues were formally assessed, which required additional inspection fees and replacement parts.
All in all, I ended up spending roughly 600€ out of my own pocket just to meet the documentation requirements for the claim. Even after providing the official Tesla report, supporting photos and all relevant invoices, the claim was ultimately denied, citing pre-existing wear exclusions... After waiting several months.
A thoroughly frustrating process. My recommendation to anyone considering buying through this platform: read the claims policy very carefully and understand its exclusions before placing any bids.

Your response is totally automatic, and biased. You flagged my comment because you don't like people telling the truth. In Google Maps every comment that doesn't help increasing your rating goes in the trash. At least Trustpilot is more trustworthy. You treat your customers very poorly, this is what you deserve.

Great variety of cars with OK prices. I have even received a Voucher for my first purchase through the site.
One downside I found is that not all the time you win an auction the seller will actually sell it to you. You are forced to pay for the car if you place the bid but the seller is not forced to sell it to you.
Very pleasant surprise was being called by the customer service proactively in my "home language "to ask If I have questions and If I need support.

Good auction platform, but the post-sale financial process is a serious weak point.
I placed a bid, won the vehicle, and completed my bank transfer on the 23rd of March. It is now well over two weeks later and I am still waiting for OPENLANE's finance department to confirm receipt of payment — which is holding up the entire vehicle release process.
The customer-facing side works fine, but if you're paying via bank transfer, be prepared for a painfully slow back-office process. No proactive communication, no timeline given — you're just left waiting and chasing.
Hoping this gets resolved soon. Will update the review once it does.
PS after more than 18 days and writing to support every day payment still isnt recieved. the funds are frozen in their bank acc due to reference number not correctly entered... it would take a competent person 10minutes to solve this.
PS: After 20 days, the payment was finally released. The funds had been frozen by OPENLANE's bank — not mine — apparently because the reference number wasn't correctly entered. It took three weeks to resolve something that should have been a routine fix. Payment is now confirmed and the process can move forward.
