Vile scammers

They continually call me (harass me) stating I owe rebel energy money. Given that rebel energy went bust and I didn’t miss one single payment these vile scammers are liars. The way they speak to you on the telephone is vile! I can’t believe all the reviews I am reading of people going through the same thing. How can we take this further? They shouldn’t be able to get away with this.

Truly despicable company

The company employs bullying tactics to essentially make people pay invented bills. My issue was an electricity/gas bill for my house in the period between tenants leaving and the house being sold, collecting on behalf of Rebel. They took a year to contact me, and threatened litigation if I did not pay within a week (they seem to think the Civil Procedure Rules don't apply to them). I was happy to pay what was owed, but not what they wanted. Following many rounds of correspondence, and despite extensive evidence being provided, they doubled down on the original amount but 'in an attempt to resolve the matter' indicated that they would accept a payment of 40%. I paid it as life is just too short to keep fighting them. They are nothing more than aggressive bullies. I'll be making a formal complaint to the Financial Conduct Authority.

Their goal is only dig your money.

Their goal is only dig your money..
Hey Orielcollections! If you read this, please refund me back for amount that you owe me £131.23 (Rebel). You have dropped letter without clarified meter reading or tenant name and I have paid previous tenant's bill because I got an email from rebel that I will receive a final bill from you. After received first bill, I have paid right away then I received another bill two weeks later. I questioned this with your team and they told me that the first bill is period before 29/10/2024 which I haven't moved into this address yet. After I realized, I have asked for refund and sent them attached file of my tenancy agreement which I received from Agent. However, they don't care, they still want me to pay my bill which only £43.93 without refunding £131.23 to me. BAD COMPANY EVER

words fail me

Oriel were pursuing me for an estimated bill dated August 2025 from Rebel Energy for usage in April 2025 (even though I had provided all meter readings when asked by Rebel just before they folded). Oriel told me they couldn't change the estimate unless I provided them with a photo of the meter dated April 2025 (as I am not a time traveller this is impossible). I did give them a photo of the meter dated September 2025 which was still showing less usage than their estimate but they wouldn't accept this. This is just ridiculous and we are going round in circles.

Absolute clowns

Absolute clowns. Don’t waste your time engaging with them. I paid Rebel. These idiots couldn’t read the evidence provided and continue mailing direct to my spam folder.

Total scammers

As with many other I got a fictitious bill for £368.46
for a property that was VACANT over 2 weeks or so (inbetween tenants). After endless emails and phone calls (some borderline threatening) over FOUR months period and me repeadely providing meter reading photos (luckily that I had as part of end tenancy check out report) they reluctantly admitted that the bill was based on a reading of a totally different meter (serial number). Even so they wanted to know if I had changed the meter inbetween! Throughout this saga whenever pinned down their response was this was all to do with Rebel as they are just a debt collection agency. At one point they even asked me to get in touch with Rebel (how do you do that for a company that is defunct?) to help resolve this. Either Oriel is run by total incompetents or is actively and knowingly engaged in scamming (ex) customers of Rebel; dread to think how many others ended up paying inflated/fraudualant bills.
They even claim that their rapacious debt collection process (based on obviously fraudulant bills) is not subject to FCA regulations (falsely I believe) and therefore I cannot complain to them but that is not going to stop me from complaining about this shoddy set up

This company "Oriel Collections" are a bunch of incompetents incapable of understanding the very basics of the English language. I never entered into any form of contract for service with Rebel Energy and Oriel Collections harassed and fraudulently tried to extort money from me when I have proof of an Erroneous Transfer from Rebel Energy by email. Its no surprise that Rebel are in administration and with any luck Oriel themselves will suffer the same fate!!! Useless morons with no grip on reality and no morals. AVOID!!!

Wrong amount sent to British Gas

I have been trying to get an issue resolved with my final bill since August and am still no further on getting my credit back from Rebel Energy. My April DD wasn't included on my final bill after I tried to recall it. Rebel objected and did not send the DD back but removed it from my bill. They did locate and apply the missing DD in August after I complained and before they closed however they have only sent the original credit of £27 and I am owed an additional £220. I have tried to contact Oriel and they just ignore emails and say they can't find me on their system when I call. British Gas are not able to help either they said and I just keep going round in circles - absolute shambles and disgrace that they have kept my money!

Dreadful Company

Following the collapse of Rebel Energy I was sent an outstanding bill of £150 for 10 days worth of energy usage for the studio flat I was living in at the time. I was billed £200 for the last 5 days in March and negative £50 for the first 5 days of April. After calling them for a 3rd time I was informed they still could not explain how I used negative energy. I have sent them countless meter readings and they still refuse to acknowledge the clearly incorrect bill. They do not respond to emails whatsoever. After making an official complaint they still refuse to provide any update. I’d encourage anyone else having issues to raise a complaint with the FCA, if Oriel do not respond to your complaint either.

Shocking service

Shocking service. Call after call after call to try and resolve my issue wity Rebel Energy, trying to charge me £500 when I certainly did not owe that much! Over and over and over to only be told they'd "look into it". Keep sending letters to the wrong address so I am receiving them long after they are originally sent, and just found out about one today threatening debt collectors over £60, saying they have repeatedly tried to get in contact when they haven't tried even once! Despicable people running this company.

Dreadful service

Received final bill from Oriel following collapse of Rebel energy. Paid the bill only to receive a second final bill. Spoke to Oriel eventually following hours on hold and was told the account was actually in credit. Now receiving more emails saying the bill hasn’t been paid. Absolutely hopeless company to get in touch with, and multiple emails have been ignored.

Poor eperience of 'Ariel Collections'.

I have wasted much time trying to contact this company calling them many times & wasting much time on the phone. I was also cut off when they finally phoned me. They did not call back. After multiple messages to them (answerphone, email and via the message porthole on their website) they have got back in touch again. Unfortunately, it was a very poor line and I could not really understand the agent who was probably based abroad. I have an outstanding bill with the company - which I want to pay asap - but the payment details they have sent me are not recognised by my bank - Lloyds. I still have not had a coherent, fully explicative, conversation with them. This is quite unsatisfactory, but the system seems dysfunctional.

Oriel Scammers

Reiterate what others have said, Rebel Energy tried to scam me for money, luckily I have the photo evidence and emails to prove I don't owe £209 but actually they owe me £56!! Best of luck to me getting that back!!
I was thinking I could employ Oriel to recover my money from Rebel Energy...
No wait..
Problem...Rebel Energy have gone bust...
So I won't get paid anyway right?
And Oreil are a set of low life gutter snipe debt collectors...
Welcome to the UK...!!!
Avoid like the plague..better use British Gas and get ripped by them instead...at least they might not go bankrupt...!!

Absolutely appalling - threatening customers after they’ve paid in full

Absolutely appalling. Oriel agreed in writing that my balance owed to Rebel Energy would be settled if I paid 80% of it in full immediately, so that’s what I did - as the 20% discount made up for the shambles caused by Rebel Energy’s administration.

But despite paying the money, I’m getting told that I owe them the full 100% still and have been told it’s gone to debt collectors. I’ve just paid the remaining 20% and want an immediate refund as it’s not what was agreed, but they’ve made themselves impossible to contact on the phone and email. I am taking this to the financial ombudsman.

Rogue company

Terrible customer service. We were with Rebel Energy, and after this inefficient company closed, we were moved to British Gas. Rebel has sent us a completely wrong bill, and it is impossible to get through Oriel collections to have this issue resolved. We have been calling and emailing for a month now and it is frustrating that there is no progress. Both Rebel and Oriel are rogue companies that are getting away with terrible service and scamming the public.

I made tI made full payment but still receive threatening messages – No response from Orielhe full payment for my account…

I made the full payment for my account (Reference: RBLK398842766, Account ID: 789123) some time ago for my Rebel energy bill. But I am still receiving emails claiming I still have outstanding balance, and some of these messages even include threatening language about legal action.

I have already sent multiple emails to Oriel Collections, clearly stating that I’ve paid the full amount and attaching the official receipt. I have received no reply at all. I also tried calling their customer service multiple times, but I can never get through due to “high call volume.”

This lack of communication and continued harassment after payment is unacceptable. I am now forced to leave this public review in hopes that someone at Oriel will actually address the issue.
