I had the best experience ever

I had the best experience ever. Prices and workmanship for top notch. Chris and Lee were very knowledgeable and had ample knowledge.

Otovo gives the best price in the market and services are very good.

I have 2 concerns:
1. To Begin installation after signing the contract on 14th Sep and installation happned only on 18th October
2. Payment mode: only bank transfer was accepted.

When I had credit card offers for 0% APR. I had to pay all from my pocket which is disappointing.

Callum -good electritian and friendly.

Otovo UK is a remarkable company for the sales for solar panels, batteries and installation. Not once was I asked for any down payment, deposit what's so ever. I am so pleased with the solar panels and batteries and also the service all-round by Sam and Stewart, they were wonderful, it's First Class and not to forget, the price was very reasonable and competitive. The money I'm saving already it's mind blowing and I think It is a brilliant UK company. That's why I give Otovo five stars for their product and services.

trustworthy advice

I had a quote through from Otovo and I found them to be honest, straightforward, and easy to chat with. I didn't go through with solar in the end as my house is not a good candidate and they were honest with me about that as opposed to others who seemed to want to sell me a million panels. I'd recommend them.

Very simple hassle free process. Installers fantastic. Product works as promised. would give fives stars but the process of being paid for exporting excess energy is a real headache caused in part by the systems smart meter not being compatible with our energy suppliers needs. What was the point of its installation? At the time of writing we are still not getting any return for excess energy going to the grid.

As discussed via email, the smart PV meter that Otovo installed is perfectly compatible with the installation and exporting energy. What needs to be installed is a smart grid meter, which can only be done by your energy supplier. Regrettably, Otovo is unable to install grid meters.

Don’t use this company

Don’t use this company. They don’t comply with the minimum standard of TrustMark and RECC to provide a completion date in their contract - they include and use clauses that enable them to wait for the price they provide to become deliverable or you give-up and go elsewhere. Their rigorously checked suppliers ‘let them down’ or ‘rudely’ tell them they are no longer able to do the job. It took 6months for them to install my system. Throughout that period I had to chase-up ‘Dave’ my consultant to find-out what was happening and why my nominated installer hadn’t made contact.
I selected and signed a contract with Otovo UK in December 2022, my decision was based on price, process and installation timeframe. With rising energy costs I wanted my system installed before the start of spring so I got maximum return on my investment from the start. I was told 2 max 3 months to complete the install - that made the latest date for completion 6 March. It was finally installed in the last week of June after 3 escalated complaints and a lot chasing. Using Otovos estimate of up to 94% saving (I had a battery installed with the system) I would have saved £659 just based on my electricity bills for those 3 months, in reality it would have been higher due to the heat wave and the 94% is an annual estimated saving… after admitting there had been ‘repeated delays’ they offered £50 compensation and reminded me their contract states part 3.8.3 of the contract states: "The Customer agrees that in no circumstance Otovo shall be liable for longer than expected installation times“. However, I know of friends who signed-up after I did that had their systems installed - I have been advised that the real reason for the delay is market moved in shortly after I signed the contract and Otovo couldn’t find a subcontractor to complete the work for the agreed price … imagine the reverse, if the customer could get the same thing cheaper and wanted to cancel the contract (of course the contract prevents that).
Update to respond to Otovo’s statement. Yes they offered an option to cancel 3 months after I signed the contract after I contacted them chasing an installation date - I got updated quotes from other providers and the price had increased - I could cancel and pay more. There was no rejection of dates offered in Easter - the 3 to 5 day installation became a request to put scaffolding up for 3 weeks and for me to make myself available completely flexible to allow entry to the house over that period so the subcontractor could ‘squeeze me in’ and due to planned holiday I couldn’t agree … not really the same as declining an installation is it. Trademark (see for yourself) requires a completion date for the delivery of the service - not the same as stating the number of days the work takes from arrival on-site. So to conclude - Otovo will provide a quote that is very competitive now, hope to get a lot of customers in a small area then try to negotiate installation rates that enable them to deliver at the rate they contracted. If they can’t they offer the customer the option to cancel. If the customer declines they continue to schedule and cancel installation dates until the customer cancels or raises a formal complaint.

Mr. Phillips we appreciate your frustration expressed in your review here and in your contact points with us. While we strive for speedy installation times and satisfied customer service in your case your expectations were not met. We apologise for this.

We are unable to specify an exact installation date in contracts as many factors are outside our control. In your case you rejected an initial installation date in April after initially confirming the date range with us. To accommodate for these factors that are outside our control, customers are not charged anything until systems are installed and on your roof. There are clear cancellation rights in your contract as well in your specific case on 01 February you inquired whether you would be allowed to cancel your contract and on 03 February we responded that you would be allowed to cancel without any cost and that timelines were not a guarantee as there were many factors outside our control and you responded that you did not want to cancel your contract. To be clear you had paid no money nor paid any deposit.

On 06 February we wrote you to let you know we would not be able to meet your installation date expectation of installation by 28 February and that we expected an installation date of no sooner than end of April. We reiterated the no charge cancellation offer, in bold. We received no response from you.

On 23 March we let you know that we had an installation date available for you of week commencing 17 April which you accepted on 25 March. However it seems when our installer reached out to you to confirm a more precise date it seems you rejected this. On 25 April you wrote to us indicating that you still had no date for install.

As stated to you in our email to you on 06 February we work with independent installers who have pre-existing and other projects planned and your area is particularly busy. Inso rejecting the original installation date our installer then started a large, complicated job which meant their availability was not as open for you.

Our contracts comply with the trade bodies and consumer codes we are party to, including as you mention RECC and Trustmark. They specify timetables of installation time as required by RECC and Trustmark and we communicated general installation date expectations with you throughout the sales and planning process based on first general averages and then specifically your project based on your specifications as well as your region details. In addition to signing your contract it seems you read through it very carefully given your detailed queries in the sales process quoting specific clauses.

In addition to the contractually available cancellation rights specified in your contract we offered to you at your request and then again to cancel your project when you felt you were being let down. We communicated to you an approximate installation date time frame which we intended to keep and which you rejected. We are sorry your expectations have not been met but we have been clear in setting expectations and in communicating these to you.

Fantastic company

Quick, clear and easy to use company.
The whole process doesn't take long at all, my instalation was completed in a day.
They're professional and helpful and deal with any issues encountered.
They outsource to smaller businesses which can cause delays if they are unable to source products, however the businesses they used for my installation were very efficient, tidy, professional and friendly.

Excellent Service From Otovo

Our electricity supply system is slightly unusual as it is 3-phase and an Economy 7 tariff. We also have some partial tree shading issues. None of this phased Otovo whereas one or two other solar companies had baulked at one of them. Simena at Otovo was very helpful and happily produced and priced a few different solar systems and options for me. In the end I went for 15 panels in two arrays, a 6kw inverter and a modular 5kw battery.
System installed and set up in two days. The installer also pigeon proofed the panels for me, this is not included in Otovo's quote. Some solar installers automatically include it but others don't. I also liked the fact that Otovo only wanted payment after the system was installed.
The only real issue came with the installed FusionSolar smart management system in that its default is it doesn't automatically allow users to set up and adjust time of use settings for the battery, which one might require with Economy 7 or some of the new multi-rate tariffs. However, Ali at Otovo sorted that out for me so I now have full control.
Huawei very quickly answered one or two queries I sent them about their recommendations for charge settings. To deal with the shade issues I have optimisers on each panel.
The system is working really well and I can see via the app what each panel is generating at any instant plus the generation history. SEG tariff now set up though I expect I will add another battery module next year.

My experience is AmaZing. I had a extremely dufficult And challenging roof. Otovo didnt show any doubt that they would easily compleet the task. Also the service after installation and monitoring were of ecxeptional level. I would reccommend otovo to anybody. Ask for Bas and you will get great insights on the possibilities for your roof
