Can't log into my main account from my office for over 10 months. Wants a security key, which I have never had. No way to turn off this requirement using my other options to log into my account. About ready to dump this email account, like all my other friends did 15 years ago.

Absolute rubbish!

Absolute rubbish!
First of all offering a free platform and then charging for it at later stage is kinda lame itself.
The low storage capacity is a bait for money grabbers like Bill Gates himself.
And even if you delete lots of emails it still stops you from finding important files and writing emails.
Absolute rubbish.

The totally useless Advanced Search on Microsoft Outlook

Why does the Advanced Search fail to work to the benefit of users.

Time after time, I have put a request into the search bar and time after time and then Advanced Search appears sometimes interfering and allowing access to limited time periods of only one month.
I have found sometimes a way to circumvent the AS function. If you put a variation of the exact search you need, then all dates often going back 10 years or more allow you to find what information you are searching for!
WHY

Does anyone know a way of getting rid of ADVANCED SEARCH?

Thanking you
Jeff Redmayne

I've had enough.

Over 1 hour to receive emails sitting in the mail server and webmail.
Over 5 minutes for an email to be sent and show in the sent items folder.
Poor/reduced customization/viewing options compared to previous versions.
Scrolling emails doesn't work, I scroll down and the scroll bar jumps back up again.
No help to fix any of these online. (I tried the Microsoft forum's suggestions on fixes, and online non-microsoft forums, all to no avail.)
It feels like Outlook was dumbed down, both in appearance and functionality.
Other email programs like Thunderbird don't have these problems. I"ll be going with them in the future.
I would give 1/2 or 0 stars if I could.

DO NOT USE, PLENTY OF OTHERS, USE THEM.

Germany's attempt in WWI and WWII were more effective than this as an email service. High demand, cannot open. Every time you try to set up their stupid double authentication CANNOT, if you have to delete more than X emails to get your storage down to use it again, cannot, as it's money grabbing BS just like their useless windows 11 scam which is monopolistic anti-competitive sillygoon value capitalist pig Fwittery.

Outlook no more. good riddance.

I have had an Outlook email account since I got my 1st PC....my email address doesnt even come with a country code, But 2 years ago they started to get me to upgrade and pay for my account. Then they obviously sold my email address and my junk folder is inundated everyday. I am now moving my account over to another non Outlook account. Cant wait to go .

Microsoft band me from my account and kept it active for two years while collecting my data

Warning: Don't Use Microsoft Email for Critical Accounts
1 star
Microsoft permanently blocked my account in September 2023. Two years later, I still have no access, yet the account remains active on their end.
The Shocking Discovery: I sent a test email to my blocked account on 16 October 2025 - it didn't bounce back. Microsoft has kept my account receiving emails for TWO YEARS while locking me out. Senders don't know I'm not getting their messages.
Why This Is Dangerous: When administrators send critical security warnings (like "these changes were made to your account - was that you?"), the emails don't bounce back, so they don't try alternative contact methods like phone calls or letters. Microsoft acts as a barrier to crucial information. Result? I've been locked out of multiple other accounts, and some have been taken over.
No Real Support: Recovery portal agents have zero authority. They just say "an automated system was triggered" with no explanation. I completed 10 recovery sessions - all futile. When I offered government-issued ID verification (passport, driving license via official gov.uk link), one agent responded with hostility: "How do I know you're not fabricating all of this?"
Impossible Requirements: Microsoft demands proof of old purchases. Closed that bank account years ago? Too bad. They rejected my offer to verify a year's worth of work payslips in the account with my name and credentials. My name, passport, and driver's license meant nothing.
What Triggered This? When my device was compromised in September 2023, I secured important accounts that had my nickname by updating them with proper credentials. Google had no issue with this exact same action. Microsoft banned me permanently.
The Contrast: All my Google accounts remain intact - not one lost or locked. I've switched my other Microsoft accounts to Proton Mail (free, secure, better privacy policy, no complications).
My Urgent Advice: If Microsoft is your authenticating or recovery email for important accounts (anything you can't afford to lose access to), migrate NOW to a more reliable provider. Log into every important account and replace your Microsoft email before it's too late.
Two years locked out with no resolution from a company of Microsoft's size is unacceptable. Don't let them turn your digital life upside down.

By far the worst written user interface ai have ever seen. I work in tech and i’m 26 so kinda young but I know quality when I see it and this is written by a 80 year old tech guy who does not get paid enough. the User interface is so bad and the app is so bad I had to write a review because I hse it for work and literally hate it.

RIGHT

RIGHT. Now this has been doing my head in for quite some time. I use Outlook on my PC and my phone, and it's been fine for the most part, but up until about a few weeks some dodgy things have been happening. I get notified of a new email on my phone, and I can read the subject and half a sentence of the email (confirming it is recent), so I click on the notification only for it to NOT SHOW ME THE BLOODY EMAIL. WHERE IS THAT EMAIL? IT WAS A VERY IMPORTANT EMAIL. Anyway, so I updated my phone, cleared my storage, cleared the cache and still NO EMAIL. I even check on my PC at home and the computer at work. STILL. NO. EMAIL. It couldn't have been deleted by the sender because everyone knows you can't unsend a flipping email. Suffice to say, I am pissed off.

Horrendous

Horrendous. I've been stuck with hotmail for 20 years as everything runs through it. Super clunky platform. Now since 6 months endless amounts of SPAM coming through with the odd relevant email being put into spam, forcing me to check it all the time. Even senders I have replied to go to SPAM. This is 2025 but you guys have a system like early 2000. Useless and I wish I could leave.

Terrible

Terrible. Constant failure to login on standard PC. Not clear why it does not accept valid use name and password. Pretty uaeless now because of passkeys, face ID etc. Also impossible to switch accounts. The worst possible app.

I've had Hotmail account for years and now with these last changes it won't even log me out when I try on a shared computer and spent half an hour trying to log off. It was at this point I began switching to proton!! All Microsoft products are junk and spy on you know or sell your information. I would strongly recommend switching to a more secure mail!!

Absolutely rubbish

Absolutely rubbish. Do not use. You do not know how much your email matters until you get locked out and there is absolutely know when you can speak to her about it and then when you do manage to get through to a person and actually speak to them after having to create a whole new email account just to use the messaging service to be told to recover your account. You need to follow the form if I could do the form I wouldn’t be asking you. do not use way better Internet mail providers
