Fantastic Service as usual

Ordered new needles for my Derminator 2 plus other goods from Owndoc on 30 May. Arrived to my door in New Zealand on 25 June. Excellent service. Everything was well packaged. Great service as usual. Love my Derminator and the products from Owndoc. Cheers Trish :)

Fast and reliable customer service

The OwnDoc team's customer service is awesome. I had purchased a Derminator1 several years ago but at some point, the cartridges I used were discontinued. I upgraded to the Derminator2, but had issues with the 1st unit I was sent. Customer service gave me a full credit for a new Derminator2 and several cartridges within a few hours of e-mailing them. They are extremely committed to good customer service, and I appreciate that.

Warranty case handled perfectly

I opened a warranty case for a defect product. I couldn't say for 100% that it was a case of warranty but it seemed to me. Sarah and her team were very professional AND kind and gave me total discount for the purchase of a new product. So hats off - that was very nice. That why today I made a new order which was even bigger than my original one and I can only recommand them. Their products work extremely well, just make sure to properly read the manual to get the best out of it.

Absolutely awful and dangerous customer services

This company and especially the owner Sarah Vaughter are particularly vile. After asking a question regarding their product and trying to ligimately purchase from them I was met with a barrage of abuse simply because I told her her website really needed updating. After several abusive emails from her I told her I would be leaving a review on a private members group with over 7k members. Her response was to add me to ratedbuyer.com as making aggressive libel claims about her. This in itself was incorrect but what is worse she added my full name, address, both of my email accounts and my business name. She also included a photo of me. This must surely go against my privacy rights? I am utterly baffled at what kind of person feels they have the right to do this?

As below the response is quite lengthy and clearly this person is not of sound mind. I have reported her to 2 agencies in the uk for placing my full details and photo online which is a data breach. When you ask someone why you cannot use their website and you get a rude response don’t go any further with this company because she will harass you constantly and leak all of your data.

According to my private app where we review products and customer services I am not the only one who has experienced this I am in a long line. I also think that most if not all of the people this person has ‘black listed’ are probably innocent. She has provided all of their contact details too so I am now in the process of contacting them to find out their experiences because nobody has the right to place your details and your photo online.

As for going to court in Czech Republic and getting 2 years, good luck with that. I think you’ll find you are guilty of data breach.

"If you refuse to follow our simple instructions or are unable to understand simple instructions then we will not accept you as our customer."

So please show those "vile, abusive emails".

Josie never was our customer. We declined her as our customer because in an epic rant about how terrible our online store is, she mentioned that our site had "too many words that she didn't understand" (she later claimed to be a software developer, although she really is a Yoga teacher) and she demanded we suspended our T&C for her. We'd flagged her order as elevated risk because the distance between her IP address and her delivery address was many thousands of km.

We sell instruments for invasive self-treatment of the skin. Infection can result in case the customer misunderstands disinfection guidelines and skin damage can result if the customer misunderstands treatment guidelines. Apart from liability reasons, we deem it morally irresponsible to sell these instruments to people who are unable to understand our instruction manual PDF and treatment recommendations PDF.

As to the issue of having publicly blacklisted her with her personal and professional details as well as her photo: That is correct and Josie gave us permission for that. We always blacklist people who agreed with our T&C contract and then commit larceny, extortion or defamation against us. This is prominently displayed above the "I agree" checkbox

Highly recommend

The web site may seem aggressive by the way that they explain that it may take 3 months for delivery and the charge back procedure but my Derminator 2 was delivered to the Uk within 3 weeks, the quality of the product is excellent and very well priced, I use the D2 to promote hair growth along with other products, I’ve just placed my second order. I didn’t receive any extra customs charges either, I have no problem in recommending this company.

Amazing website, Amazing products and Amazing customer service!

I am SO grateful to have stumbled upon the owndoc website several years ago! The website itself is a complete wealth of invaluable information! I started with their manual rollers which are superior and less expensive than the other items out there. After seeing positive results from the roller I decided to invest in the Derminator 2.0 which is much more expensive than a roller but considerably less than the lower quality competitor products. The derminator is a game changer, it takes the guesswork and learning curve out of microneedling. After a couple of years of using the Derminator and loving the results I was getting, I received an error code on the LCD screen. I was trying to trouble shoot the device so contacted their customer service. They responded within minutes things to try to trouble shoot the device. When I was unable to fix the error on their suggestions they sent me a replacement unit! These days you are lucky to find a company with customer service at all and I was amazed by the level of customer service I received. This is an extremely, reliable and HONEST company that stands behind its wonderful products!!!

The OG Needlers

I've been getting my microneedling information and supplies from Owndoc since 2013.  They were the originals and still seem to be the only ones that give all the proper, in-depth information on depth and frequency for the home user! 

Their supplies are high quality and very affordable so that you can actually needle often enough to be most effective!

Some people seem to be thrown off by their super frank and well, punitive, shipping and chargeback policies ! There is no reason to be concerned if you're an honest person, they're not out to get anybody they're just being upfront about how they respond to fraud.  I've always received everything I ordered in the stated time frames and highly recommend their products!

About our punitive chargeback policy: You're 100% correct. We consider a chargeback not merely theft but also an act of war, and we fight back with all means at our disposal. It is hard to fully understand how much misery we will rain down on someone who makes the mistake of stealing from us. We always refund when the shipment did not arrive and a chargeback inflicts a $30 penalty fee on us as well as the need for a lot of bureaucracy. On top of that: If we get more than 0.5% chargebacks in a month, we lose our payment processor, which could cost us a million dollars or more, worst-case.

With the uniquely customer-friendly service we have (double replacements of bad items, warranty for out-of-warranty items etc.), we expect our customers to have the decency not to steal from us.

As to our shipping policy (being "punitive"?): It's a completely reasonable policy to ask for patience until three months transit have passed before demanding a refund, considering the fact that the COVID pandemic has caused that people can't really travel internationally anymore due to severe quarantine regulations. And mail pieces go on passenger jets so they are held up for weeks before finally boarding a plane (or train). When they eventually arrive in the destination country, they are usually down-prioritized by USPS and others because people in lockdown order online a lot and all postal services are under-staffed due to that and cut corners by delaying incoming mail from our neck of the woods.

I’ve been a happy Derminator customer…

I’ve been a happy Derminator customer for nearly two and a half years right now, and can confidently say that it’s extremely rare to find companies that stand behind their products the way Derminator does.

For a small business, they have an unbelievable support turnaround time- I have had to contact them twice, and both times my support tickets have been responded to and resolved within 4 hours! I can’t think of another company that provides this level of dedicated service.

Their product manuals are detailed and provide excellent use and troubleshooting information. I really appreciate how easy it has been to identify issues thanks to the manual as well.

Shipping turnaround time is also very quick, and has always been within the day for me. I have always received my deliveries within the stated window, despite the pandemic severely impacting shipping times.

Overall, it is difficult to come by a company that not only produces a top quality product, but provides such fantastic service. I have only the highest recommendations for Derminator.

Fast delivery

My order has just arrived after around 2 weeks, which is very impressive given the Brexit/Covid situation.

I enquired about the delivery time beforehand and the company was very honest that it could take up to three months. So I’m very happy. The customer service was extremely quick and friendly.

The item seems to be high quality. I haven’t used it yet as I want to do a bit more research on technique first. But I have every confidence that it will be superior to the cheaper dermapens available from China.

The website is a little unusual (they take absolutely ZERO b.s. from scammer customers - understandably), but what eased my doubts was how transparent and honest they were in their communication. I also read posts from customers on places like Reddit, where they were very highly praised.

Their devices are well-respected in the online skin & hair worlds, and I will likely recommend them within those communities once I begin use. I’ll be ordering some more cartridges in the near future.

[Edit: you can see how great they are with online communication, because as I was editing this review, they’d already responded!

Thanks for the delivery, I’m very impressed. I agree with your ethos wholeheartedly, and will be a frequent customer. :-) ]

The problem with our product is that it's "scary" and quite an expense for some people. In the US and Canada, anyone can do a chargeback for a fake reason and they always win the dispute. When we get more than 0.5% chargebacks, we lose our payment processor and are effectively permanently out of business.

The problem is that about 2% of people are psychopaths and that even 13% of people are "opportunity thieves" (13% of our Amazon customers falsely claimed a "not received" when we sent untracked, vs. 1% of people who purchased via our own store.) So 0.5% chargebacks is only possible not to exceed when we "go medieval" on fraudsters. We do everything we can to make their decision to steal from us as unpleasant for them as possible, correct.

Also: We coded our own website. We all have Asperger's Syndrome and one peculiarity of those like us is a no-nonsense approach to everything, including websites. Our site looks 30 years old (and we are pushing 60!) but it's packed with valuable information. No popups, no spam, no tracking, no ads, no sales pitches, no slow loading. Just the info.

We are VERY "special" in terms of customer service. Troublesome customers are dropped by us, even before they get to buy. Customers who commit an offense are ruthlessly punished for that. And ordinary, normal customers are treated as well as no other company treats their customers.

For ex. we've given warranty on expensive products that were out-of warranty. To hundreds of customers. And we always replace faulty merchandise with TWICE the new replacements.

We're "weird" but fair.

Great company. I have been a customer for several years. I purchased the original Derminator and was just given a great discount code to upgrade to the Derminator 2. Very good personal customer service. I trust Sarah 100% with my skin. I know I’m in good hands.

Could you clarify what you mean by "no luck"? Error message, site blocked? You can email sarah@owndoc.com if you can not see owndoc.support.

We ship to Ireland but not Northern Ireland, since we are unable at the moment to achieve a technical solution regarding its Brexit-caused anomalous VAT status. It is part of the UK, which we should not charge VAT to but we still need to charge VAT to NI, even though it is not its own separate country. We coded our store ourselves and therefore it is complex to solve this new issue.

We sadly are unable to ship to Poland because the first two Derminator we sold to Poland were confiscated by Polish Customs. Unfortunately, local laws sometimes restrict some of the items we sell and we comply with local laws. Some rather harmless things we used to sell to Finland caused their local Police to summon the customer and they ended up with a 5-year criminal record and a 500 EUR equivalent fine!

If you are in Ireland and our site is blocked for you, all we need to know is your IP address so we can correct the error in our firewall IP range.
