In March 2025 I paid £70 via the website for 2 rolls of cellophane that the company did not have in stock. Over the next month I sent many emails asking for my refund, to which Mr Bamford responded occasionally with contradictory statements saying: “Will refund tomorrow"; “What was this for?”; “its been cancelled and refunded ; "It's was on hold and now sent back to you should take 3 to 4 days"; “I have sent the refund 3 weeks ago its gone from my end”. During this time I had not been refunded.
Maybe it’s incompetence, but it is also fraud.
If you are having similar problems, I recommend the Citizen's Advice website. You can call them and report him to Trading Standards, and they can give you legal advice on how to proceed. I did email Mr Bamford to say Legal action was pending - he did not respond. You can also raise a query with your bank, which is how I eventually got my money back.
As of writing, the out-of-stock items are still listed for sale on his website.
