After thoroughly researching multiple clinics, I opted for bilateral upper eyelid blepharoplasty and xanthelasma removal with Paul Wilson Aesthetics. I checked credentials with the Royal College of Surgeons and the CQC, and compared various quotes. Paul’s pricing was extremely competitive and represented excellent value for money. Surgery is never cheap, and I strongly encourage anyone considering cosmetic procedures to do their homework—choose a surgeon based on credentials, reputation, and CQC rating, not just the marketing. I nearly went with a national chain offering the world, only to discover their poor CQC rating, numerous negative reviews, no refund policy, and even reports of clinic closures.

My experience with Paul and his team was exceptional from start to finish. I made an enquiry and was seen at a clinic near me within a week. I opted for surgery within 8 weeks at their Woodside Clinic in Okehampton, which is truly like something out of a fairytale – a beautiful, tranquil setting.

The procedure itself was far less daunting than expected—less traumatic than going to the dentist, entirely painless, and over within an hour. I had minimal discomfort and bruising afterwards. Stitches were out within a week, and I was back to normal quickly. I had a follow-up appointment at 4 weeks, and the results exceeded all expectations.

My surgery was a little more complex due to the location of the xanthelasma, but Paul successfully removed it. I honestly wasn’t expecting such fantastic results—I now have a refreshed look and feel far more self-confident.

As a man in his mid-forties, I had begun to see and feel the effects of gravity. The changes were noticeable—more pronounced nasolabial folds caused by sagging cheek fat pads, marionette lines, and outer lips that had started to turn downward. While facelifts are more common among women, I wasn’t sure what the process would be like for a man. Fortunately, I already knew consultant plastic surgeon, Paul Wilson, from previous surgery, so I reached out to him for advice. Over the course of three or four consultations across four months, I communicated my goals and expectations. Paul provided clear information about the options available, what could be improved, and what each procedure would involve. In the end, I chose a short-scar (minimal access) lower SMAS/deep plane facelift to enhance my jawline, lift the cheek fat pads, and create a more refreshed appearance (I didn’t require a brow lift, neck lift, or any eye surgery).

On the day of the procedure, Paul reviewed the plan with me, carefully marking the areas to be addressed and confirming the agreed-upon incision sites and goals. I woke up about four hours later in recovery. There was no pain, just a noticeable tightness from the bandage wrapped around my head and under my chin. I returned to my room where I dozed until Paul stopped by to check on me and give a quick update on the surgery, which I really appreciated—it was reassuring to hear everything had gone smoothly before I went to sleep for the night.

The following morning, Paul removed the bandages, and I got my first look at the results. Despite some puffiness and swelling, the difference was already clear: a sharper jawline, lifted cheeks, and the outer lips that were more upturned. I was slightly shocked by the appearance of the stitches—they looked more intense in person than online, but it was to be expected.

Post surgery – first two weeks. The swelling peaked at days three/four. I had yellow bruising down my neck, but this had cleared by day nine. The stitches in front of the ears were removed on day seven and I have worn silicon tape since then. The edges looked quite red when the stitches were removed, but by day nine they were looking calmer again.

Overall, I can’t recommend Paul more highly. Excellent communication (including his friendly secretaries Karen and Stacey) combined with sound and honest advice on the procedure have resulted in outcomes exceeding my expectations. Thank you, Paul.

I am almost 7 weeks post-surgery with Paul Wilson. I had arm lift, back lift, breast lift, and motiva implants. This was a huge surgery, and I ended up in surgery a lot longer than anticipated; but the care I received didn't falter as a result of that.

I am naturally anxious when it comes to medical procedures, so choosing a surgeon meant plenty of research, staying as local as possible, and making sure I was happy with the environment. Paul's laid back demeanour was the obvious choice for an anxious patient. Too often, when you speak to surgeons in any discipline, you can feel spoken down to and there's a power imbalance. That isn't the case with Paul. He's pleasant, honest, and laid back.

Given the amount of surgery I had, it was no surprise when I had a tiny wound opening where a stitch popped. Not a major complication, but dealt with swiftly by Paul. I was then given regular follow ups for the following 6 weeks. The after care has been great.

The most amazing thing about the whole experience, is the scars are already looking incredible. Paul doesn't take credit for this, and said some people do heal better than others; but it is clear that surgical skill has had a lot of influence over this. By 4 weeks after surgery, my scars had faded; they're pencil thin in most places, and very flat. Paul always says you're exchanging loose skin for scarring, but if I compare the poor aesthetic of my scars even now at 6 weeks to the loose skin, there's no contest and I'd always choose the scars.

I started my journey in March 2023, at 161kg. When I Paul operated on me, I'd lost 75kg and had acres of loose skin and drooping. He's worked his magic and my upper body looks amazing. It's been life-changing. I am returning to Paul for FDL in July, and probably next year for neck lift and thigh lift.

When you're choosing a plastic surgeon, you need to prioritise your safety and care. It's important that the person you choose is also realistic with you, and that is what you will get with Paul: no empty promises, and plenty of honesty of what is possible with your individual body. This, for me, is a crucial thing, as many of us having plastic surgery are doing so because of the impact on our mental health and that has to be carefully managed. I would highly recommend Paul Wilson to people in the South West and Wales.

Paul is an excellent surgeon. I previously had my heart set on Harley Street surgeons purely for the name, however after moving from London and an unsatisfactory first consultation with a Harley Street surgeon I began researching locally in Bristol. Paul is clearly extremely experienced, knowledgeable and calm. He listened to what I wanted and produced a morph - my new nose looks almost exactly like the image generated. I love it! Due to the preservation rhinoplasty technique I had very minimal bruising and swelling. I was worried about not being able to breathe through my nose for a week, but I only was unable for the first night. This made the recovery much more comfortable. I definitely recommend Paul and am convinced his work is the same or better than anyone at Harley Street!

Paul is a very talented plastic surgeon. I went to him for a direct brow lift as one of my Brows was higher than the other. I also have a tremor and Paul was able to perform the operation on me while I was shaking and still gave amazing results.
