A very satisfied user of pCloud for over 8 years

I have been a user of pCloud for over eight years now. I am extremely pleased that I am able to get ample, easily accessible, secured storage for a reasonable price. pCloud's value is much greater than its price. I am thrilled by pCloud's customer/support services. They have always been quite responsive and helpful when I needed them. I’m a big fan of pCloud and have recommended it to others who need file storage, and I’ll keep doing so.

Data leak? lalalala can't hear you, go away....

Functionality, speed, value, all great. That's why it's two stars not one.

My problem is that pCloud is clearly having some issues with users being able to see other users' files - bad enough - and while they clearly know about it and make some vague efforts to address concerns to individual users (see other posts here and on Reddit), they seem to want to ignore it as a general thing.

To me, it implies they just want it all to go away instead of dealing with it,. And I don't want a company with my files to have that attitude, so I'm moving to another provider.

Hello,

We take your concerns very seriously.

An incident occurred that made a limited number of customers’ directory structures (file and folder names, modification dates – “Metadata”) visible to others.

No file content, credentials, or personal data were exposed.

The issue was caused by an edge case in the app’s authorization logic and has been fully resolved. We performed full system checks, added new logging and safeguards, and confirmed that the exposure was limited to non-personal metadata only.

Security and privacy remain our top priorities, and we continue to improve our systems to prevent similar incidents in the future.

Leaked data glitch from pCloud

Recent glitch causes my pCloud to become Japanese and force-download a bunch of Japanese files I do not know of into my private pCloud account!

This behavior is only for PC. pCloud has been a good service and it's convenient, but do not let that fool you - they do not give a poo about you and your data, and they have either ignored or deny the glitches through email communications. It's been a week and nothing has been fixed.

Not secure - user data exposed

I was a user of pCloud but I closed my account. Many users are seeing other peoples files on their computer. This is a serious data breach.

Search pCloud Reddit for many examples and screenshots of this.

Edit (19-01-2026) in response to pCloud's response:

You say that "Such information (file metadata) constitutes personal data under the GDPR" and you also say "Should the incident qualify as a notifiable personal data breach, we will notify the competent supervisory authority and affected users without delay." Clearly, from the many reports and screenshots on Reddit, this data breach has occurred on several occasions and continues to occur, so you should have already notified them. You have not issued a formal statement about these incidents after a whole month, and continue to make it sound as if nothing has happened. You are concealing a serious data breach and basically playing down the seriousness of the situation. Furthermore, if there is a bug in the client software you should have released a fix by now. The truth is that you don't want to admit culpability.

Hello,

Any indication that data or metadata belonging to one user may become visible to another — even if limited to file and folder names — is considered by us a serious security and data protection concern. Such information constitutes personal data under the GDPR, and its protection is fundamental to the trust our users place in us.

We have initiated a formal incident response process, including a focused investigation of all platforms and a comprehensive verification of account-level data isolation on the server side. At present, there is no evidence of unauthorized access to file contents, but we are thoroughly examining all possibilities, including erroneous exposure of metadata.

Together with our Data Protection Team, we are assessing the incident against our obligations under Articles 33 and 34 GDPR. Should the incident qualify as a notifiable personal data breach, we will notify the competent supervisory authority and affected users without delay.

Unfortunately I have to give pCloud a 1 star review

Unfortunately I have to give pCloud a 1 star review.

I have had a lifetime plan for 3 years now and for a while things were OK with the service. I use pCloud to synchronize files between various devices and depend upon a reliable and reasonably fast synchronization process.

However, for the last year or so the latest client pCloud apps have introduced a significant delay in synchronizing files. For example, a small 2kb file can be edited on one device and it will take several minutes before the change is propagated to the server and other devices. This can lead to conflicted file versions, or even non-synchronized files if a device is closed or shut down before the file has uploaded. This problem has been reported to pCloud several times with debug logs and steps to reproduce but the issue remains unfixed.

For my use this delay is unacceptable and I have now moved to a competing product where files are synchronized immediately.

Furthermore, there have been numerous reports on Reddit concerning data breaches where some users have seen other users' files on their machines. So far there is no official statement on the matter and that in itself is worrying.

Unfortunately, due to these issues, I can no longer recommend pCloud.

Update 12.02.2026 - to pCloud's reply. The email address I use for Trustpilot is different than my pCloud email address. I don't need to give you this because I have been in email correspondence with pCloud's "Bob" about this problem since April 8 2025. There have been many emails about this since then so pCloud know about the problem. The last email from "Bob" said "We have forwarded this information to the relevant team. Once we receive their response, we will update you with the outcome." As I don't believe you have any intention to solve this issue my 1 star review stands.

We’re sorry to hear about your experience and appreciate you sharing such detailed feedback.

The sync delay is not the expected behavior. File changes—especially small ones—should be propagated quickly. Delays can sometimes be related to block-level sync processing, heavy background activity, or device/network-specific factors. Since you’ve already shared logs, we’d truly like to review your case again—please share the requested information so we can escalate it for further investigation.

Useless

I’ve never managed to get pCloud to work properly, and I’ve never managed to get any useful help from their support people.

I need it to do one thing - store a real-time copy of every document, note and photo that I have on my phone; MacBook; and Dell. If I create or alter a new document I expect it to appear on pCloud and be accessible at any time if the relevant device is unavailable for any reason.

This morning I needed to access on my phone some documents I created yesterday on my Dell. No sign of them either via backup or synch. I got home and checked pCloud desktop on the Dell - none of them are there. Indeed the synch copy hasn’t updated for a year. The backup copy is at least a month behind and my photos (also set to backup automatically) are two months behind.

This has happened every time I’ve ever needed to rely on a backup, so I have zero confidence in pCloud to restore a device in the event of damage or loss.

I would not recommend anyone touches pCloud with a bargepole, let alone bet on a lifetime storage purchase.

I bought 500GB disk space from pcloud…

I bought 500GB disk space from pcloud a couple of years ago, now I notice on the app and my hard drive I have 65GB free space left, suddenly I can no longer upload anything onto pcloud and all my song lyrics are no longer appearing. The company claims my memory is full. This is a scam because I emptied all heavy programs such as Adobe Master etc to make more space, and I have had no reply to my mail, and it seems to me they are forcing customers to extend their space, by lying to them, their own app shows how much space I have, my computer gives a 2nd opinion and I know for sure it is not near 500 gb. I do not like the way the company works, it is unethical just cutting off your memory without even a warning, and in this case it is pure hard selling tactics from greed-driven owners, disgusting!!!

Hello,

We’re sorry to hear about the frustration this has caused and we’d like to clarify a few important points.

What you are describing can happen when uploading files to the **pCloud Drive (P: drive) using copy & paste**. This upload method uses **local cache space** on your computer. If the cache limit is reached, you may see messages suggesting that space is full, even though your **account storage itself is not actually exhausted**.

This is not related to forcing upgrades, and deleting local programs (such as Adobe) would not affect your pCloud storage usage.

To help us investigate properly, could you please share:

* The email address of your pCloud account
* How you are uploading the files (P: drive copy/paste, Uploads tab, or website)
* The exact message you see when the upload fails

Once we have these details, we’ll be happy to look into the issue and assist further.

The worst start for a lifetime membership pCloud #1356786

Update, On January 21st, the issue was resolved. I am adjusting my review from one star to three stars, considering the time it took to resolve this matter.

On January 12 I purchased the 500GB version of the product. Within two days, the storage capacity was full. My understanding was that upgrading to the 2GB which is $400 version would only incur a charge for the price difference of $200 and I'll have 2TB. However, upon selecting the upgrade option, my credit card on file was immediately charged $400 without showing me the new charges. If I saw that it will be another $400 Ion top of the $200 that i just paid I would've not agreed to the upgrade. On January 12, I contacted customer service to resolve this issue. On January 14, I received an email presenting two options. I responded to this email asking clarification but did not receive a reply. Two days later, I sent a follow-up email, again without a response. After another two days, I sent a third email, still without a reply. Therefore, I request the closure of my Acorns account and a refund of $600 to my account, as this experience does not align with my expectations for a long-term membership..

Extremely slow to download/upload. Not recommended.

I purchased a lifetime plan and used pCloud for quite some time. Over the past few months, however, both upload and download speeds have dropped dramatically. This issue is not related to my ISP — my internet connection provides excellent upload and download performance. The slowdown occurs only with pCloud.

Transferring files larger than 1 GB now takes an unreasonable amount of time, whereas it used to be fast and reliable.
Additionally, I’ve always had to rely on tools like rsync for uploads, as the official pCloud app has consistently been unreliable and poorly implemented.

Unfortunately, due to these ongoing performance issues, I can no longer recommend pCloud.

EDIT:
Here's the data you requested.
Download upload from my ISP with a local server: 150D/20U Mb/s
Download upload from my ISP with Luxemburg server:
150D/20U Mb/s
Download upload from pCloud: 130D/0.0U Mb/s

The issue is in the pCloud network.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and for being a pCloud lifetime user. We’re sorry to hear about the performance issues you’ve experienced.

We would like to clarify that pCloud does not limit upload or download speeds on our end. Transfer performance can be influenced by several factors, such as routing, file size, transfer method, encryption settings, and the specific tool or feature being used.

If you haven’t already, we recommend trying the Uploads feature within the pCloud Drive application, as it is optimized for handling large files and can provide more stable results compared to other methods.

Additionally, our support team would be happy to review your specific use case and help identify the most suitable upload option based on your file size and purpose. They can also assist with troubleshooting and performance optimization.

Please feel free to contact our support team for further assistance — we’ll be glad to help.

Kind regards,

UPDATE: We understand that you are trying to upload files using the pCloud Drive app, but you haven’t mentioned how you are uploading them. The upload method can affect performance, so please clarify this.

Also, please check and let us know the upload speeds you get when using other pCloud platforms, such as the web interface and mobile apps, for comparison.

Total Disaster: Database corrupted and “Rewind” feature is USELESS.

I’ve been paying €17.99/mo like clockwork for what is supposed to be a “Premium” service. The result? A total catastrophe. If I didn’t have my own local physical backups, 15 years of my career would be gone.
Yesterday, the unthinkable happened: while I was logged into the web interface, I literally watched entire folders vanish before my very eyes. My account usage plummeted from 2.7 TB down to 100 GB in a matter of minutes. The files just evaporated.
But the technical failure here is even worse: the “Rewind” feature is CORRUPT. I tried to restore data by going back to dates from months ago, but the folders show up as empty even in the past. This means your database has completely lost the historical metadata. This isn’t just a simple bug; it is a structural failure of your entire system.
To make matters worse, support is non-existent. I opened urgent tickets hours ago and haven’t heard a peep.
Honestly, the red flags were already there. Your official desktop app is a buggy mess—slow and unreliable. It was so bad that I was forced to use external scripts (rclone) just to get files uploaded because your proprietary software kept crashing.
I paid good money for a service that not only loses “live” data but corrupts its own internal backups. Stay away from pCloud. It is dangerous for anyone who relies on their data for work.

_____________________

UPDATE: pCloud responded here immediately asking if I used external tools, trying to shift blame. Even if I deleted files manually (which I didn't), your 'Rewind' feature is supposed to restore them. It is EMPTY. That proves YOUR system failed, regardless of the cause of deletion.

Thank you for taking the time to share this detailed feedback. We are sorry for the distress this situation has caused—especially when your work and long-term data are involved.

We would like to clarify that pCloud is designed with multiple safety layers (Trash, Rewind) specifically to prevent permanent data loss from accidental actions. Under normal circumstances, it is extremely difficult for data to be irreversibly lost.

Because of the severity of what you describe, we would like to investigate this case immediately and in depth. To do so, we kindly ask you to help us understand a few key points:

Were you using Sync or Backup at the time?
Were any third-party tools (such as rclone) actively connected to your account during or before the incident?
Did the changes occur only via the web interface, or also on a connected device?

If you can provide your pCloud account email address, we will escalate this case directly to our senior technical team for an urgent and thorough investigation. If there is any possibility of recovery or reconstruction of the data state, we will pursue it.

We also want to apologize for the delay in support responses you experienced—this is not the level of service we aim to provide, especially in critical situations like this.

Your case deserves careful, immediate attention, and we are ready to review it in full once we have the necessary details.

Update: Thank you for the update. We understand how concerning this situation is and want to clarify a few important points while your case is under investigation.

The Rewind feature is designed to restore data that has existed in your pCloud account. If files were permanently deleted (for example, emptied from Trash) or removed locally before they were fully uploaded/synced, they would not appear in Trash or Rewind, as they were never stored on the account in a recoverable state.

Our team is actively reviewing your account activity and system logs to determine exactly what happened.
