Outstanding in every way
As many companies transition to automated and AI driven customer service models it is wonderful to find a business that still operates through direct personal contact, understanding its customer's needs and going above and beyond to meet these.
From initial consultation, through to celebratory completion phone calls Camilla Smith managed my sale in exemplary fashion. Despite many difficult issues arising in the inevitable chain of sales downstream Camilla was able to offer pragmatic solutions, broker agreements and actions, and most importantly take the lead in chasing and following up both solicitors and agents down the line. Without this level of engagement I am certain the deal would have collapsed.

Costly Mistake
In June 2022 we chose Peter Clarke to market our property because we had an excellent service from both letting and sales, in the past.
We accepted an offer from someone who was obviously well known at the branch as they were always referred to by their christian name, they had a property portfolio and were going to raise the funds against it. All sounded good, after weeks of being fobbed with excuses pertaining to their personal life, we were not surprised that the offer was withdrawn because of lack of funds. We were left feeling that their interest was with the potential buyer and not us.
We then accepted another offer, which was withdrawn on 4/11/22. There was no follow up as the whether they were still interested in the property. We decided to take it off the market and informed Peter Clarke on 28/11/22.
The property was sold by another estate agent on 22/5/23 to the person who had withdrawn the offer in November. We were aware of the 6 month clause in our agreement with Peter Clarke, but truly believed that the 6 months was from when a potential buyer withdrew their offer and ceased to be a person of interest to them ie 4/11/22.
In August this year, some 15 months later, we received an e-mail from Jonathan Joy to say that he had information that we has sold the property and as it was less than the 6 months by 6 days and we were bound by our contract to them to pay £3000 in fees. We replied explaining that we honestly but wrongly assumed the 6 months started when the buyer had withdrawn their offer.
We heard nothing more from Jonathan Joy until towards the end of November when received an invoice for £3000. followed by another e-mail offering us a 10% discount and the threat that if it was not paid within 7 days he would take action to recover the money. We have paid Peter Clarke £2700, at lot of money for innocent mistake of 6 days and we strongly object to being threatened like criminals who were trying defraud the company.
In the e-mail that Jonathan Joy sent us to acknowledge receipt on the money he wrote "it seems clear that (the buyer) would have proceeded anyway" Which begs the question why didn't he follow the potential sale up at the time.

A brilliant letting experience from the owner's pov
We have been delighted with the way staff at Peter Clark in Stratford have managed the letting of our one-bedroom flat. From our first meeting with Michael, lettings manager, we felt confident that the Peter Clark team would do a good job for us. Indeed Karen, who had the job of finding a suitable tenant for us, kept us well informed at every stage of the process right through to the successful tenant's move into the flat. Throughout this process Karen handled all the necessary paperwork, responded to the new tenant's questions and requests and checked with us if anything cropped up about which she needed our confirmation or consent. We have nothing but praise for the way in which the Peter Clark team has helped us with this letting. Exceptional Experience with Peter Clarke
Our experience with Peter Clarke has been extremely positive. After dealing with two other letting agents over the years who provided very disappointing service, we were pleasantly surprised by the professionalism and dedication of the Peter Clarke team.
It is short-sighted not to treat tenants well, as although they may only rent for a short term, these individuals could go on to use the services again, whether it be to rent, buy, sell, or let. In contrast, Peter Clarke has set a new standard for us. The entire staff are brilliant, especially Emma Zyko, who managed our property with exceptional care and efficiency. Discriminatory, ignorant, arrogant and offensive.
Before I begin it is unsurprising to read that most positive reviews are to do with home sales - in my own PERSONAL experience when PC&Co have your money, they are finished with you!!!
I have never experienced discrimination on the level I have from Peter Clarke and Co which has now caused me serious destress and they also don’t care. I have enquired about some building works on a communal building my flat is located in. As Peter Clarke and Co didn’t ‘order’ the works they have literally told me they are unwilling to discuss it. Harriet is by far one of the rudest people I have EVER spoken to on the phone, huffing and puffing and cutting me off to tell me she ‘wants to go home’. When Michael is done talking to you, he ignores you. I also have NEVER had to seek advice from a solicitor before. Before renting to me PC&Co knew I had certain health conditions and the response I have had is not only unkind, but actually discrimination. They have made me feel so terrible and worthless for things that I cannot control. If you suffer with any form of health condition DO NOT become a tenant with this agent. They will only find you an ‘irritation’ for what I can only presume is small charge they get for managing. I am now being ignored no matter who I email. I have actually asked Michael for a document letting me know what PCCo’s internal obligations to tenants are - this has been ignored - I asked Harriet for this on the phone. I have asked for the details of the individual I need to begin an internal complaint, ignored. I am not even sure it is completely legal to refuse these documentations and details if asked. The person responsible for this company seriously needs to consider some further training in basic customer service and compassion for these (seemingly) arrogant and offensive agents.
If a response is left to this publicly I am sure it’ll all be my fault - they are full of words and very little action. They actually have not the single interest in even trying to disguise their absolute disdain for you. Michael even commented that ‘works would not stop because of me’ - I never asked them to. PC&Co also knew these works were beginning and failed to be transparent of the gravity of the situation and impact it’d have on peoples lives. That was my qualm.
Only in Stratford Upon Avon ehhh!!!
They’ll be very glad too hear I won’t be renewing my contract, but certainly not as glad as I am. I’m sure I will also be completely ‘paid back’ in my checkout process and I’m sure I’ll be getting plenty of emails from them about ‘what they want’.
A service poorer I am yet to encounter. Even last year a few days before x-mas I locked myself out and though they held a key they refused to assist me but to give me the number of a ‘locksmith’ … 80£ later.
In the communal area I reside in I know one thing, I am not alone in my ideas of this companies attitude. Even the lady who comes and does inspections likes to comment on your personal decor and a more sarcastic person I’m yet to meet.
Once they have your money they’ll be done with you and with my already pre existing issues I now have to spend time wasting the remainder of my tenancy filling out paperwork for ombudsmen and the like. You know I wasn’t even allowed too move out on July 1st even though I pay my last rent this month … me thinks that’s due to the place being covered in scaffolding with workmen right outside the window drilling into the walls. Curious right???
On a slightly different matter.
1. Recently received a revised ‘fire’ documentation even though the electrics cupboard for the area is full of other neighbours junk and flammable liquid. I don’t understand how this has been verified and signed off. Oh well, at least that cupboard is only underneath my kitchen.
